This beachfront home has the best view of any home on the West End, yet close to the fun of downtown Galveston. Easy walk to Galveston State Park. Our beach has a private feeling and is very quiet (no cars are allowed to drive on beach thus no worries about the kids/dogs). Once you cross the bridge from the mainland you will find a unique experience. We feel like we are entering a different world when we visit our beachfront island home! Starting in 2014, the beach has been raked of seaweed.
MISC: All photos are post Ike. We have rebuilt Summer Wind from head to toe after the hurricane. This home is set back, plenty of beach in front and only small dunes between you and the beach. Please note, the map illustration can make it appear there are lots in front of Summer Wind. If you use a satellite view you will see this is not the case. This is a front row, ocean front home!

Perfect Family Location for a Vacation
Loved our stay at the Summer Wind home. The place was very well stocked. We were able to cook up quite a few meals for a crowd of over 8 using the many large size pots and pans. The accommodations were very comfortable, from bedrooms to kitchen to living room to the outdoor seating. The sleeping arrangements accommodated 9 people comfortably. Loved the fact that there were 2 and 1/2 bathrooms.
The beachfront location of the house could not be better. The views from the house were absolutely lovely. Lots of useful outdoor areas. The large deck area provided us with plenty of sunshine or if you prefer, shade. The beach was just steps away and during the week, totally ours.
When we didn’t want to cook or forgot something or just ran out, we went to a grocery store/deli, liquor store that was just a few minutes away. That little plaza came in handy.
We would definitely come back . Thank you, John, we had a lovely time and felt that if anything should have gone wrong, you were just a phone call away.
Fabulous house on pristine beach
We recently brought our family (including two toddles & a dog) with us to stay at this fabulous house in Galveston. The home had plenty of room for us all and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and whole home was decorated well. The decks had amazing views of the ocean so I'm certain we will return as we had the best vacation ever.
Very nice beachfront, all as advertised.
Great decking with sunny and shaded areas throughput the day. Excellent deck chairs, table and loungers all in like new condition. Interior is in good condition. Everything is as advertised.
A perfect place for our weekend on the beach
Despite the fact we never saw the sun during our stay it was a great weekend. Extended family from England were more than happy to spend some time at the "sea". House was a perfect fit for our group of 8. I would definitely book this place again. House is well kept and clean.
Can't beat the location!
This was our third stay at Summer Wind. Excellent location. Steps from the ocean. House showing a little wear and tear inside and out. Overall great and relaxing stay.
Galveston is eclectic, fun and one-of-a-kind. What makes it fun? + The beaches, + The Strand + Endless activities: ArtWalk, Music on the Strand, Movie Night on the Strand, etc... + Art Galleries (These are not your texas landscape art galleries!!!) + Watching the cruise ships come in + People watching on the Seawall + Enjoying a 1st Class dinner looking over the Gulf + Watching the dolphin play off your deck + Watching kids learn to surf in surf school + Or, watching the dolphin swim alongside you on the ferry ride to Bolivar + Chasing crabs at night with a flash light (# kid delighter) + Talking to the neighbors on the beach, some are always there...some are visiting just like you! Lastly, do take a trip around the island and understand the depth of will and progress the islanders have made since Hurricane IKE, their intent is to make this a wonderful place for all to visit and escape your hectic lives
