Ten years ago we first opened our beachfront vacation villa in Zihuatanejo, Mexico to invited guests and have since traded that paradisical home for our beach house at Silver Strand, California! We love it there ... we think you will too.
Mark purchased this house in 2009
I grew up in Oxnard ... my family enjoys 4 generations in Ventura County. Joyce and I currently live in beautiful Northern California but we thoroughly enjoy every vacation at Silver Strand and we are happy to share our special home with vacationing guests from all over the world.
I rented Mark's Silverstrand Beach House for 8 nights for Thanksgiving this year. I am from the L.A. area, born and raised, but currently live in Arizona. I wanted to have Thanksgiving at the beach with all of my family who still live in Ventura County. Oh my goodness, what a wonderful time we all had. The house is amazing, perfect for a family. We loved the kitchen/living room/dining area all open with a fireplace to enjoy. We set up all of our Thanksgiving food dishes along the massive bar and set the beautiful dining room table adjacent to the bar, which worked out perfectly. We are "foodies" and the kitchen had everything we needed! We loved having coffee on the front deck, looking at the ocean just down the street a little ways, and utilized the back deck with the mac daddy BBQ for some wonderful dinners with family. Rib eye steaks one night and fresh fish and shrimp another night. Loved sitting out there listing to the ocean and the seals.
Every bedroom has a bathroom which was awesome. Loved the pool table and bar area on the top floor, played pool and ping pong with football on the big screen. Fireplace going, cozy!!! We all fell in love with this home!
This home is decorated beautifully, classy. I urge anyone who wants to visit the Ventura area and would like to stay in a home to reserve your time at Mark's. You will not be disappointed! We spent a day walking and shopping along Main Street in Ventura, so fun! Santa Barbara is close too. So much to do, kayaking, deep sea fishing, surfing, biking, walks on the beach...... great for active people, and great for those who just want to chill.
Take it from me, you will want to return time and again. I know I am!!!
We absolutely had a very special wedding anniversary celebration at Mark and Joyce's Silverstrand home.
From the moment we arrived the house was just as advertised (a few additions of art not withstanding). The house was very clean and extremely comfortable to relax. We had some very strange California weather when were there and the house’s windows allowed for a great sea breeze to surround the whole house. It was a real treat to have the sea breeze every night.
We really did feel at home, there were rooms for everyone. The kids loved the games and the kitchen was well stocked for large meals as we had family over to have dinner with us a few nights while visiting. The whole take some, leave some attitude was a nice addition as we forgot a few things at the market.
The house was close to all the things we love about Oxnard/Ventura. Mark and Joyce were wonderful hosts. They easily accommodated our few special requests. We loved our stay so much we are planning next year already. You won't be disappointed with the house and the beach all of it was just great a well-deserved 5 stars.
We loved being steps from the beach, but felt as though this wasn't a ideal rental for a family with small children. The kitchen was very well stocked and the area on the top floor was a great place to relax, but strict rules on laundry machine use, tar on the beach, and a risky floor plan (for toddlers) made this a less than ideal rental for families with small children.
I have stayed in a rental at this location several times and Marks Silver Strand rental is the absolute best. It is very well equipped with every thing from Kitchen equipment, to pool Table and games and entertainment items to numerous to list here.
There is a gourmet grill in the upstairs Patio where we ate all dinners, enjoying the wonderful Ocean Breezes.
The home is decorated to the delight of any interior designer, with several wonderful works of original art. The home is very spacious and comfortably sleeps 8 people.
The absolute best vacation home we have rented not only in Oxnard but anywhere!!!!
If you can rent it you will be ecstatic with the entire place.
What a lovely, well setup , beautifully decorated home. Short walk to the gorgeous Silver strand beach. Had fun watching dolphins frolic off shore while looking for beach glass , starfish and enjoying the sand between my toes. Biking around the area is a big plus, too. Sitting out on the back deck enjoying a nice meal or a good book is beyond terrific. I would recommend this beach house to anyone who loves the beach and ocean. If you don't have a great time it is your own fault!
We stayed here for 3 nights in April for Spring Break.
The house is really beautiful. Even better than the pictures here give credit for.
Loved the great big open floor plan on the main level. Everything you could ever need in the kitchen. Loved the view of the front deck but preferred the warmth of the back deck most mornings and evenings. I enjoyed my coffee and Nook, every morning while the kids and hubs slept in, on the back deck in the sun.
The walk to the beach is about 5 min when you have a VERY slow 4 year old walking. so Close.
We had a great experience dining at the Italian Job Cafe for dinner on Friday evening. They were so thoughtful in regards to our kids which is always a HUGE plus for me. and the food was really yummy too.
Also Toppers Pizza...to die for! yum-O. we had it delivered.
Owner Mark was quick and responsive to any questions we had.
My only negative (which would've provided the 5th star) was the game tables upstairs were a bit lacking. They are a pretty big selling feature and we spent above our original budget because we liked that space so much. the air in the Air hockey table was weak. and the pool table seemed warped, causing it to be hard to have a good game because the ball would not go the way you were shooting it.. BUT overall it was a really fun home to stay in on our vacation. And if we get to come down that way again, we would DEFINITELY consider staying here again. Thanks Mark and Joyce!
From its breathtaking shores to its diverse cultural activities, Oxnard beaches are a welcome retreat. Whether kicking off your shoes and running along the shore or swinging your hips during the annual Oxnard Salsa Festival, the city is alive with activities and events.
Just one hour north of Los Angeles, Oxnard stands as the entrance to the Central Coast and represents all that California's pacific playground has to offer.
Perhaps Oxnard's best asset is its seven miles of uncrowded, white sandy beaches that offer surfers and sun lovers a real haven. Oxnard is also a departure point for the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. Only 11 miles offt he coast, this remote park comprised of five of the 8 island archipelago, has been called 'America's Galapagos'.
Less than a mile from our home is the Channel Islands Harbor. Kayaking, jet skis, electric boat rentals, private yacht and sailing charters, sportfishing, Segway rentals, scuba diving and more are all there.
Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Boating, Parasailing, Shelling, Glass Picking, Beach Cruising, Channel Island Excursions
Golf: River Ridge Golf Club. Located 7.3 miles away from our home. Opened in 2008, the fairways are Greg Norman (GNI) hybrid bermuda. Open to the public.
