We had visited The Sea Ranch many times over the years and wanted to come more often.
We purchased the Redwood Cottage in 1998, spent some time putting our imprint on it and have enjoyed sharing it with many visitors since then.

The 'walk-in cabins' are a unique group of small but well designed homes with a minimal footprint in keeping with the original Sea Ranch concept of living lightly on the land. Each is surrounded by 'commons' rather than having lots which are contiguous with their neighbors.
They have everything you need in one open space, plus a loft for sleeping.
When we had visited The Sea Ranch we typically stayed in one of the conventional Sea Ranch houses. They were lovely, but we kept thinking all we need is 'a little cabin in the woods' .
When we learned about these unique homes it just seemed right for us.
Waking up to see the towering redwoods through two huge skylights is always amazing.
One of us is a hiker (former trail runner) who loves to hike the many trails right from the cabin.
One of us enjoys the peacefulness of the forest with the ocean in sight.
We both look forward to relaxing in the spa and watching the stars overhead.
A short drive takes us to easy access to the bluff trail to be close to the always changing ocean.
We had a great time. Wonderful unique cabin tucked in the forest with a partial ocean view. It is very well maintained and thoughfully appointed. Owners are very easy to work with.
Redwood Cottage is a beautiful sweet place to spend as much time as you have available. The skylight over the bed looks out on towering redwoods; the kitchen is well equipped; there is a wonderful shower and jacuzzi; the cottage is warm, inviting and well cared for; there are forest trails to explore; and it is within convenient walking distance to the beach. The owners provide lots of information about the area, places to explore, and things to do. Enjoy -- it is a perfect place to return to many times.
slept under the canopy of redwood trees and a starry starry night. Loved the lofted bedroom under a ceiling of glass; the house was deserving of the architectural awards received.
Cozy and warm and private with a kitchen that had everything we needed.
Loved the hot tub and deck and the solitude.
The photos and description of the Redwood Cottage tell only part of the story...you have to see it and stay there to believe how comfortable and cosy it is. Spotless; very well-equipped kitchen; a perfect pot-bellied stove that keeps the place at a perfect temperature with no more work than the flip of a switch. And sitting by the stove and watching the ocean on a rainy day, is heavenly. The location is very quiet, so you feel you are in the wilderness, but yet Gualala is a short drive up the highway so it's easy to get groceries etc. The owners were very helpful ahead of time, and clearly they love their cottage. As they should; it is wonderful.
Thank you for sharing your peaceful abode with us! Loved the spa,the barn door the view, and the whole ambiance. We enjoyed the beach, saw whales at Point Arena Lighthouse, and ate dinner at the bar at St. Orres.
We had a wonderful time! Thank you. The communications with the owner were easy and clear. It was clean and cozy and we mostly loved the 2 person hot tub under the trees! We took hikes, went to the beach, visited a few galleries in Gualala, read by the little fireplace and cooked our own meals (well stocked kitchen utensils etc.). It was just perfect for us. We did bring our own linens, which proved to be easy and more like home so that worked well for us. We highly recommend this treehouse by the sea! ~M & J from Sebastopol
