Why Mark/Terri chose Poconos

This property is great for family get togethers. We bought the property when our youngest was 2, and we loved the fact that there was a huge paved driveway that the boys could play on, and a large front porch for us to sit and watch. Add a back deck, and lots of privacy, and it is the perfect getaway. The street is very quiet, and we can walk to the basketball courts, and the marina to look at the lake and go fishing. We can also walk to the beach, but usually ride the bikes. The layout of the house is fantastic, and it really felt like a home to us.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We thoroughly enjoyed your home! The decor is so warm and welcoming we felt like we were home rather than in a rental. We truly appreciated the cleanliness as well. I think it is the first rental we did not wipe down with clorox wipes upon entry. The kids already requested that it be our ski house next year!

The only suggestion I have is to consider providing a tea kettle. We could not find one, but simply used a pot. It was not a problem. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and very comfortable home!

Beautiful home, perfect for multiple families

  • 5 of 5

The home was well stocked and clean. There was plenty of room for our group. The weather was seasonably warm, so the kids were able to take advantage of the basketballs court and playground - all within walking distance of the house. The home had enough things to do to keep everyone occupied (game room). Big boulder was just a short ride from the house and it was convenient to have food stores and restaurants nearby. Thanks for the memories! We will consider renting this home again in the future.

Excellent condition

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 12 (6 adults, 6 children, age 7 and under). The house was in clean/excellent condition when we arrived. It was spacious and lots of rooms for the kids to play. We stayed for 4 days and cooked 3 meals a day with the fully equipped kitchen. It has everything we needed and more! This house is very kids friends. They have kids utensils, cups, bowls, high chair, crib, safety gate for the stairs, board games, books... etc. The grill and kitchen are very clean. We used it everyday. The games were fun, plenty to keep the kids occupied while we're in the house. It has all the tools you need to keep the house clean. We had a wonderful stay and looking forward to the next visit. We saw deer near the house and a rabbit in the backyard. We didn't go to the community park because we don't have enough bracelets but we went to the park 30 minutes away and it was well worth the trip. I'm so glad we picked this house. Thank you Terri!

We had a pleasant stay and would rent it again

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with some friends over Memorial Day weekend, and our group included 5 couples and 5 young children ages 1-4. All the families said they had a great time, and that the house was very comfortable. People of all ages particularly enjoyed the scooters in the garage. We had to make some adjustments to make the house safer for the little kids, such as moving the futon away from the railing in the loft, but that wasn’t a problem.

As for what to pack, other renters might like to know that even though you need to bring your own linens, this just means sheets and towels. Comforters are provided. For families with small children, there are a highchair and Pack'n Play in the closet of the smaller upstairs bedroom. The kitchen had almost everything we needed, but there weren't any casserole dishes or other bakeware.

Terri was very responsive and the rental agreement was clear. Overall we had a great experience.

Great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were three couples with small children and we really enjoyed our stay here.

* The house is really clean, the furniture is very well maintained and each room has its own personality.

* The pictures are a good representation of the house; however the house is even nicer in person.

* The kitchen is fully stocked and there is plenty of seating for a large crowd.

* This house really caters to kids, they have board games galore and there are toys in the garage, plus there are a few children’s bikes.

* Teri was really easy to deal with

* The community is really quiet; there is a nice lake and a pool. The lake has a little beach with a volleyball court and a little kids play area. There are also tennis and basketball courts. It's about a 5 min drive to the pool area and 3 min to the basketball / tennis area

* The pool table is actually a "Bumper pool" table

* Pool area doesn’t have chairs, you need to bring a beach towel

* The community doesn’t allow bonfires

Great vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely home in a quiet setting with all of the amenities that you would want. There was plenty to do , including taking advantage of the nearby pool, clubhouse, and lake. It was also close to Hickory Run State Park and historic Jim Thorpe. The accommodations were outstanding! The home was spotless and we enjoyed watching the deer in the back yard. There was a TV in every room and the kitchen was well-stocked. We would recommend it to everybody. It provided a wonderful getaway for our family.

The house was very nice looking but we arrived to a snow and ice covered driveway and sidewalk with no shovel in sight but it was lucky we had one in our car. Another inconvenience was that the fireplace didn't work and the water pressure was poor for showering. We lost a significant amount of our security deposit taken to replace 2 broken men on the hockey table which was broken when we arrived.

Owner's Response: We have the driveway plowed regularly, but this is the mountains and most of the streets and driveways are snow covered. We have two shovels and salt in the garage (which we thought was a logical place) - there is a key on the kitchen counter. The fireplace was difficult to get on, but it did work...we have since gotten a new one. Normally, we would refund tenants some rent for any inconvenience; however, there was damage to the house after their stay. We kept only half of the security deposit, even though the full amount would have been warranted. We are normally very lenient with small damage that is done, and we try to be fair in all cases. This was a large group of single people over superbowl weekend, and it looked like some things got out of hand. We usually rent to families, and will make that a policy in the future.
