PLEASE NOTE: If arriving to a very CLEAN place is important to you, then please consider our Loft.
Architecturally designed, this gorgeous one bedroom artist loft includes white bamboo flooring, hand stained oak doors, recessed lighting, custom oversized windows, and original artwork. The loft is attractively furnished with an eclectic mix of Asian carpets and vibrant textiles. There is a queen size bed and a queen size fold out Italian sleep sofa; the glass-tiled bathroom has a shower and tub. Amenities include WiFi, air conditioning, internet ready flat screen TV, microwave, coffee-maker, ceiling fan, all linens and a fully equipped kitchen. It is located one flight up from the street. Smoking is not permitted.
Long Island City is one of New York's newest artistic neighborhoods with TWO Michelin starred restaurants: Case Enrique and M. Wells Steakhouse, AND TWO Michelin “Bib Gourmand” picks- gourmet eating at bargain prices! It has hipster cafes, ethnic restaurants and art galleries right next to old world Italian restaurants. This is the place for gourmet eating with many young chefs setting up shop here! One particularly great local restaurant is Tournesol, a neighborhood fixture, owned and operated by a family from south west France. For art lovers, PS 1/MoMa Contemporary Art Center, the Noguchi Museum, and Sculpture Center are all near.
For more fun, take the East River Ferry to three different parts of Brooklyn and Wall Street from nearby Gantry State Park with its stunning running track along the river. There are also excellent yoga, fitness, and cycle studios, and a CitiBike station minutes from the loft.
We are two artists, one American painter and one British sculptor, who are avid world travelers ourselves (India, Italy and South East Asia are our favorite destinations!) and enjoy sharing our passionate love of New York with visitors. 'See the Real New York' is our motto! As a result, we offer real 'insider' tips to the best art galleries, museum shows and other events currently on view. As real 'foodies' and 'locavores' we can direct you to the best eats for the best price, from Farmer's Markets to 5 star restaurants, especially in our great Long Island City neighborhood. We personally renovated this apartment with love and sweat and an eye for design, elegance and charm.
This is the CLEANEST place you will reserve!! We absolutely love Queens, Long Island City where this loft is located. You are in Manhattan in five minutes by subway or you can stay in the neighborhood, enjoy the countless hipster restaurants, art galleries, walk along the East River Park and see the glorious Manhattan skyline, or take the bus five minutes to ultra chill Greenpoint or Williamsburg Brooklyn for even more art galleries, restaurants, etc. The building is on a lovely, tree-lined quiet block. The subway is a one minute walk from the apartment.
Stay where its all happening!
The location is superb for Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. All can be accessed by subway ( 1 minute walk from the apt.) or, bus , too!
This 2br unit was a great home base for our visit this weekend. The convenience to the 7 line, just 200ft from our front door, was unexpectedly helpful! We were in and out of Grand Central Station in Manhattan in minutes..
We enjoyed the light and airy living space. The bedroom and bath were also quite comfortable. We like the character and decor, with the pops of color against the old Brick textures.
The neighborhood and restaurants were convenient and pleasantly walkable. We enjoyed breakfast at Cafe Henri, excellent food and the best eggs Benedict I have had in quite some time!
The owners are very communicative and efficient. We would definitely consider staying again on subsequent visits. Thank you for keeping such a spotless little gem so close to everything!
We loved staying in Long Island City!!! 1. it is SUPER close to Manhattan-only 5 minutes by subway 2. neighborly, safe area with a great waterfront park on the East River complete with cafe for breakfast and happy hour wine/beer menu. Best way o view the Manhattan skyline. 3. clean, large loft apartment perfect for 4 adults. The Loft was for myself, girlfriend and other 2 friends. Private, separate bedrooms, plenty of open, sunny space to chill out in, big modern bathroom. Looks just like the listing. Owners available and helpful, very nice! Tons of local restaurant menus, city maps, and guides in the Loft-no need to cart your own heavy guidebook.
Happy to report this Loft is even BETTER than the photos. It is the cleanest apt rental we have ever booked - its quiet, spacious and beautiful. Great fun and SAFE neighborhood with restaurants of at least 10 different cuisines-all more reasonable than Manhattan (which is only 10 minutes away, anyway) Subway is right on the corner and for extra fun we took the East River ferry crossing a few times-awesome site seeing of the skyline and bridges of Lower Manhattan. Hosts super friendly, easy to contact and full of a lot of local suggestions. Great Artwork and vibe to the whole place. Plan to return next year!
My husband and I with our grown up daughter decided to spend a month in New York and our main aim was to see everything there was to see. Live like a local by staying in a neighborhood that was not populated by hotels and tourists.
We knew of CitySonnet from previous visits and sent them an email in the hope they may know of an apartment that would fit the bill. Lucky for us, they had since our last contact with them taken on the Loft Apartments in 50th Ave, Long Island City.
Long Island City is on the banks of the East River with wonderful full Island vies back to Manhatten. It is part of the borough of Queens, not on Long Island is in my opinion is a very new, very clean neighborhood, where young couples and families are setting up home.
We had previously stayed in the area for just a week, and knew what a great find this was.
The apartments are right on the number 7 line train, and is just the one stop from Grand Central Station, mere minutes, and then continues across the width of Manhatten Island, with stops and transfers at 5th Ave, Times Square and Hudson Rail Yards at the top of the wonderful Hi Line walk down the west side of the island. Because this line goes across town and every stop you can get off and transfer to all of the other underground train systems, popping out in what ever neighborhood you have decided to explore.
You can catch the train the other way which will take you to Queens and Flushing Meadows and transfer down to Brooklyn, although we preferred the East River Ferry that runs every 20 minutes on weekends down the East River to Brooklyn and across to either Wall street at the bottom of Manhatten or Midtown directly across. The ferry is a short 2 block walk down the the East River waterfront, which in itself is a wonderful destination in the warmer weather for exercise or just a lazy coffee in the sun.
The apartment is spacious with 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and laundry facility and plenty of space to sit down a relax when your not out and about.
There are two reasonable size supermarkets nearby, and a full pharmacy, as well as a couple of small grocery convenience stores. And you are able to choose from many wine bars, restuarants, pizza outlets, and diners in the surrounding streets, that all cater for the locals more so than tourists, which means prices are considerably less than on Manhatten Island. But if you want to wine and dine in Manhatten, its a very quick and safe journey via the underground system.
My wife and I and my 2 adult children enjoyed an extended stay at this Loft. Overall, we have were very pleased with our stay at. The key attractive points are:
2. neighborhood safety
3. tasteful decor and cleanliness of the spacious unit
4. excellent selection of restaurants in the neighborhood
5. convenient nearby grocery/supermarkets
6. extremely easy access to midtown Manhattan via the #7 train and hence easy transfer to every other major subway line
This explains why they have so many returning guests. We will come back!!
I worked for the United Nations in Manhattan and stayed with my family for 5 weeks in the Orange Loft. The location of the loft is excellent to explore NYC and get to the UN. It is a 30 seconds walk to the 7 Subway line which runs every few minutes. With the subway it is a less than 5 minutes to get to Grand Central Station or Times Square. The loft itself is great and very nicely furnished with beautiful art and many restaurants and grocery stores around. The owners were very helpful and even provide a set of NYC travel guides and restaurant recommendations. A 3 minute walk takes you to the Long Island City waterfront from where you have a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline. We hope to be back soon!
Long Island City attractions: one minute walk to subway; New York Times and Michelin reviewed restaurants, East River Ferry to Manhattan and Brooklyn; new waterfront Gantry State Park with Manhattan skyline views and running track; PS1/MoMa Art Museum, Sculpture Center, Noguchi Art Museum, and numerous art galleries; 5 minutes to Williamsburg and Greenpoint in Brooklyn; artsy boutiques, cafes and bars.
