About The Owner

My husband and I are both engineers. We have 2 children. It took us 2 years with some contract help to renovate the cottage. Photo of our family with our dog. We love the outdoors. We love to share the outdoors and our home with others.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007

Why The Owner chose Asheville Area

We live close by. We wanted to be able to use Lake Sheila for swimming and fishing. Lake Sheila is a private lake. Perfect for swimming. Clear water. We enjoy building and preserving peace.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace, wildlife, camping feel without other tents around and all the nice amenities of a home. Lots of fish in the lake. No motor boats allowed. Perfect for swimming. Clear water. Canoe and paddle boat use with lifejackets provided. No additional charge. Boats are already at Lake Sheila ready for use.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Frank and I had such a restful visit. The cabin is wonderful, and the patio/firepit was where we sat the most!

Sumudge loved the woods! Walking through the leaves. We thank you for a real rest.

My family ha stayed at this cabin multiple times over the past few years. I can't say enough how much we adore this cabin. Beth and her family are so friendly and helpful, and the cabin is perfect for our family -- quiet, close to the lake, unique, full of character, free from distractions. Plenty of space to look at the stars, sleep in and make delicious food in the kitchen. If you're looking for a unique place, this is it.

Secluded cabin

  • 4 of 5

Cabin was literally in the middle of no where. It was nice to be away from everything, but it took 15 minutes to get to the closest restaurant or store, which were all closed by 9pm. Beth was nice & helpful. Well kept place. No AC, but Beth provided an AC unit which was a life saver. Cabin is up a half mile, 65 degree slope, gravel road. Would recommend a truck to drive up this road. Cell phone service was spotty, but we were able to connect to the wifi & get online in the cabin. It was a nice place. We & the dogs enjoyed our time. We didn't want to come home.

Far Away But Close Enough

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a wonderful time with both family and teenage friends. No TV and air conditioning encourage great talks and long swims. Loved being at the end of the road but yet just a few miles from quaint Saluda.

Magical Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third trip to the Four Seasons Cottage, and one of the best! The lake is wonderful for fishing, swimming and canoeing. We love the privacy the cabin gives you with only a short drive into town. We spent much of our trip on the lake or hiking the many trails in the area. The highlight of our trip was kayaking down the green river. I would defiantly recommend the cottage to anyone looking to unwind and unplug for a few days. Thank you Beth for another wonderful trip for our family, we will be back soon!

AWESOME Get away!

  • 5 of 5

Our family came to the cottage Jan 2-5th 2014. When we arrived the place was ready for us- we brought our stuff into the cabin and were just able to RELAX! The cottage has EVERYTHING! They really thought of everything- from a gaming system for the kids to keep them busy, to shampoo, toiletries, to even coffee and creamer! WE enjoyed EVERY second of our time! We are even coming back in June! This will definitely be our go-to cabin/cottage when we're in the area. It's centrally located to SO much! Thank you for opening your cottage up to us! We can't wait to come back!

Perfect New Year's Eve!

  • 5 of 5

Beth went above and beyond in letting us have the cabin for New Year's Eve! It's hard to find someone to rent from for only one night, much less someone who will email you with a cancellation. As always, the cabin was spotless, homey and inviting. I don't think we moved from in front of the fire except to go to bed. I can't wait until our next trip!
