Rated the # 1 creek side three bedroom/two bath Maggie Valley rental under $800/week by a group of local realtors in 2014 and 2015, the RED DEER LODGE lacks for nothing. Access to the RED DEER LODGE is very easy. From the Ghost Town parking lot go six tenths of a mile up Fie Top Road to Low Gap Road. Bear off to the left. Go one tenth of a mile to Ward Road and take a left (just past the creek). The Red Deer Lodge is the second house on the left....... MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY 6 PEOPLE. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ADULTS:4 NO PETS NO SMOKING...NO EXCEPTIONS
From the minute you step out of your vehicle, you know you are in the cool North Carolina mountains (elevation 3450 feet) from the sound of the roaring creek 15 feet from the back screened porch of the lodge. Because of its unique location, the Red Deer Lodge is usually cooler by 10 degrees than Maggie Valley.
Meticulously decorated, with a combination of numerous antiques, comfortable chairs, ottomans and large fireplace-side couch, we have tried to make the RED DEER LODGE a truly comfortable and unique experience. From its 50 inch satellite flat screen HD LCD TV as well as a 39 in HD LCD flat screen master bedroom TV, massive 16 foot wall to ceiling real stone, wood-burning fireplace, modern kitchen, open counter bar stool seating, large screened back porch with four comfortable rockers and new electric start propane grill overlooking the wate-fall creek, to the many unusual wall hangings, your family will come to understand the pure joy and comfort of the RED DEER LODGE.
Additionally, we have tried very hard to make the lodge family friendly. Sleep under the covers with the windows open to the sound of the rushing creek and awake completely refreshed. Children can enjoy the real hand-made bunk-beds, fishing (poles provided, and yes, there are fish there) in the creek directly behind the lodge, playing horseshoes, croquet, or wiffleball, watching movies (there are over 250 catalogued (old and new) family video movies), enjoy the many games and puzzles provided, or watch nature unfold with the numerous butterflies, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and other birds, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, and fireflies that frequent the property daily.
To be sure, the Red Deer Lodge is a one of a kind experience that has been enjoyed by many renters year after year. Come join us and after your stay, tell your friends about your experience and book your reservation early next season.
SPECIAL 3 DAY RATE: $499.00 including taxes and cleaning. Maximum 4 people. May not be available July, October or Holidays.
I really can not express in words how much we enjoyed our stay here!
It is the perfect central location for all of the activities that we do annually in the area: ziplining, white water rafting, trips to Cherokee, dinner in Waynesville, hiking, horseback riding, paddle boarding at Lake Junaluska, gem mining, trout fishing, and spending some time in Asheville.
We have stayed many places in Maggie Valley and this one not only fit the budget, but also exceeded our expectations. It was clean, well stocked, and was more than enough room for the four of us.
It even smelled clean when we arrived. It's not the typical dusty cabin you find in the area.
The creek behind the house is just steps away from the back porch and the sound of it provided the best nights of sleep than I have had in years! There is also a screened in porch with rockers and a picnic table. This is a huge plus as you can sit outside at night without worrying about insects. We grilled out several nights and were able to eat out there.
It is clear that the owner, Dan, takes great pride in this home. He was quick to respond to any questions and even helpful offering recommendations for local activities.
My 9 and 10 year old asked me to ask Mr. Dan if he would just sell us his home :)! Definitely check it out, well worth the experience! My only complaint...we couldn't stay there longer!
I've brought my wife and two little boys here three times now and the four of us are always so sad to leave. Every time you visit you'll notice something you didn't see the last time (place is loaded with unique decorations). My boys always go straight for the stick horses, cowboy hat, toy pop gun etc. The place is always clean, fresh mountain air, fully stocked with pots pans and dishes, movies for the kids, I could go on about it but you'd just have to see for yourself.
Perfect respite in the mountains. The home was very clean and comfortable. The owner went out of his way to ensure we had a pleasant experience- very responsive and flexible. Sleeping creekside was very soothing-had the windows open the whole week. Convenient location.
Being from the Orlando area our family wanted to experience the cool mountains of North Carolina. The Red Deer Lodge was perfect. Dan, the owner, was so easy to work with, even letting us check out a few hours late on Saturday. The Red Deer Lodge is even better than the online pictures depict. Access from US 19 was very easy. The Lodge was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable (our children loved the hand made bunkbeds) and the couch, chairs and ottomans in the great room equally comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed including a crockpot. Our children loved the Disney tapes on the 52" flat screen and it was nice that there was a yard for them to run and play. The creek was to die for, and although our son did not catch anything, he did get a couple bites and enjoyed himself immensely. We were able to sleep at night with the windows open to the sound of the rushing stream. It was hard to believe, but we hardly used the air conditioning (maybe for an hour or two in the early afternoon a few days. I dont remember the temperature getting above 77 degrees on the back screened in porch. (compared to the normal 100 degree plus days in Florida. Our children especially enjoyed the fire pit and we toasted marshmallows and hotdogs two evenings.
The Red Deer Lodge is close to nearly everything. We went on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cataloochie Ranch (5-10 min) the Cherokee Indian Reservation (25 min) local shopping and restaurants (5-10 min) white water rafting and the Bryson City train ride (about an hour). Our children chased fireflies at night and by the time we put them to bed they were exhausted.
All in all our family had a terrific time and we will return next summer. Thanks, Dan, for such a wonderful home and experience.
My family enjoyed a wonderful week in Red Deer Lodge this summer. The listing's description was spot-on, right down to the cooler temperatures and sounds of the roaring creek. The pictures don't do this charming lodge justice. We found the beds and furniture very comfortable and the amenities were more than adequate for our week in Maggie Valley. We enjoyed meals prepared in the well-appointed kitchen and were able to pack picnic lunches to eat on our daily treks in the surrounding areas.
When not touring the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway or Smoky Mountains National Park, we made ourselves at home in the Red Deer Lodge. Several of us gathered around jigsaw puzzles, others watched movies on the satellite television, played horseshoes in the yard, or simply sat in the ideally placed rocking chairs on the screened-in porch overlooking the creek.
The location of the lodge was ideal for us. There are so many options for all kinds of adventures; our college-aged daughters especially enjoyed Sliding Rock and the Forbidden Caverns while the men were fascinated by the extensive vintage motorcycle collection in the Wheels Through Time Museum. Joey's Pancake House in Maggie Valley was definitely a hit with the whole family!
Mr. Peterson was so very thoughtful in providing everything we could possibly want and was more than helpful if we had any questions. Our family are all agreed that we will plan to visit again and stay in the Red Deer Lodge.
