About Phil Holzinger

I live in nearby Lancaster and have a keen interest in the environment. As such, I have enjoyed watching this 4-acre property gradually return to nature, complete with a trail system for exploring it.

Phil Holzinger purchased this house in 2010

Why Phil Holzinger chose Columbia

My uncle and aunt lived in this house for 58 years before selling it to me in 2010. I spent many happy times there with my cousins as a kid growing up.

What makes this house unique

It is a short drive to Route 30 and many of the Lancaster attractions. The woodland setting is a welcome respite when the day is over.

Very relaxing time

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxing time at Sylvan Retreat. The fireplace was perfect to set the mood for a peaceful evening. We loved the private setting yet we were close to so many places and activities. We would definitely go again.

Fond Memories at Sylvan Retreat-Columbia PA

  • 5 of 5

Sylvan Retreat was fantastic--enjoyed reading about the history of the schoolhouse & taking in its charm!

There were 5 Women in our group attending a conference in Lancaster. We took additional time for sightseeing---Philadelphia, Washington DC, Hershey & Lancaster area. Amazing how close these cities were--great short drive!

Thank You Phil for sharing your home with us!

Rustic getaway

  • 4 of 5

We were very happy with the getaway house. The floorplan of the house was layed out perfectly for us. It was well equipped with everything we needed and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Our family really enjoyed reminiscing around the outdoor fire pit. I'm sure in its day the grounds were beautiful. It could use alot of trimming and manicuring of the landscape.

Owner's Response: The Emerald Ash Borer killed several of the big trees this year. Some of the grounds are still recuperating from the tree trimmers machines which unfortunately took their toll.
