Week of July 16-23 just opened up. Make your reservation now!

Situated on five acres of woods, this home is quiet and secluded yet only minutes from beaches, bike path, restaurants and shops. Originally built in the 1700’s, the house has been completely restored and modernized and offers all the conveniences you need – completely supplied updated kitchen, deck and gas grill, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, high speed internet, and cable TV. The master bedroom is on the first floor and has a queen size bed. Upstairs, one bedroom has a double bed and the other has two twin beds. An extra room is small and cozy with a twin bed. The futon couch in the living room folds out to a double bed for extra guests.

Skaket Beach is only five minutes away where you can swim, walk the sand flats at low tide, or play in the tidal pools (great for kids). For ocean surf and sand, you are a 15 minute drive from Nauset Beach where you can swim, surf, and soak up the sun. If you prefer fresh water swimming several pond beaches are all within a ten-minute drive. The long driveway connects directly to the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path.

This is an ideal location for sharing good times, having summer adventures, and relaxing together with family and friends.

Note: Please bring your own linens and towels; owner supplies blankets, pillows and spreads.

Why The Owner chose Cape Cod

The Sea Captain's house has been in my family for 75 years. I first summered here as a child in the 1950's, and have wonderful memories of sailing, swimming, and beach picnics with my family. Orleans is centrally located at the 'elbow' of the Cape, a half hour from Provincetown and a half hour from Barnstable. The house itself is within one mile of both beach and town, yet offers a uniquely private get-away. The location is ideal and convenient for whatever activities you prefer.

What makes this house unique

One of my favorite parts of the day is stepping out onto the deck in the early morning and being greeted by birdsong, sunshine, and trees all around. Anytime you want to be on the water, it takes only 5 or 10 minutes to get to a variety of different beaches and boating areas. Although the property is convenient to shopping, when you are at the house it feels like being in a remote location.

Great house in a wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

My family spent a weekend at the Sea Captain's cottage in June and were really pleased with it. The owner met us there, gave us a quick tour, and everything was as advertised. It is located on a wonderful property and very close to many things. My 3 young children, wife, and mother-in-law enjoyed it immensely.

Beautiful and Private

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful and private quintessential Cape Cod home...quiet and comfortable. Lots of space for families. The owner was very helpful with any questions I had.

Close to everything in Orleans...a quick mile jog to Skaket Beach.

I would definitely recommend this property!

Great for a family

  • 5 of 5

Quiet and secluded old house, walking distance to Skaket Beach and Hot Chocolate Sparrow and mere steps from the Rail Trail. House itself is interesting, with old stairways, alcoves, floors, etc.

Getting to the second floor takes some agility but there is a bedroom on the ground floor that we used for Grandma and Grandpa. Room on the lawn for kids to play and explore, well-furnished kitchen, can accommodate a large family.

Boas Sea Captain's House

  • 5 of 5

I vacationed with my extended family of ten from Friday through Sunday in mid-September 2014. We loved the location, and especially the fascinating old home. The three teenage girls were off their phones, and explored every cupboard and closet and had loads of room in the yard for games.

The rooms are roomy and filled with light. There were plenty of utensils, pots, dishes and cups and glasses.

We were happy and comfortable, and would definitely return.
