The stay was great. The room was clean and comfortable. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. However we added a person last minute to the reservation and were charged an additional $75 to add an air bed to the space.I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone staying in the area. I did think it was expensive but from what I understand it was extremely affordable by San Francisco standards. The owners had great communication before arrival.

First City VRBO stay

  • 4 of 5

It was a great stay at the the charming house in Castro. Laurence and Nick were a big help in things to do. The area is a bit away from the city, but has its own charm. Everything was clean and in order.

Owner's Response: We appreciate Lisa's kind comments and are so pleased she had a great stay. Her comment "the area is a bit away from the city", may be confusing as she is referring to the downtown commercial district. Our property is however centrally located in the city of San Francisco as you can confirm on the accompanying map. Our residential neighborhood has been part of one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods since the City's early founding (our house was built in 1889 and many of the Victorians in the area are of a comparable vintage). While the city has many great hotels for those who want to live in the commercial district, our guests come to experience living in a real San Francisco residential neighborhood that also has lots of restaurants, bars, historic and cultural sites (Castro Theater, Randall Museum, Mission Dolores - where San Francisco was founded) and shops within easy walking distance. And yet our guests are 9 min from our door to the Union Square area due to our proximity to public transportation which leaves every 4 minutes a block away.

Felt like "home" & conveniently located!

  • 5 of 5

We felt so lucky to be able to stay with Nick and Laurence! The studio felt like "home" to us and had everything we needed. It was quiet and conveniently located to public transportation, restaurants, and great San Fran culture.

Our favorite amenities were the jetted tub and the complimentary herbal soaps! We felt relaxed every evening, which was so important after miles and miles of exploring in the city.

We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay away from hotels and in the heart of San Fran culture.

Fantastic, Affordable Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time that we stayed at this HomeAway location, and it was fantastic. Exceptionally clean, private, quiet, roomy, it was simply perfect for our "get-away" vacation. The hosts (Laurence and Nick) were very friendly, timely with all their communications and they provided excellent instructions for finding the location. The room has lots of information regarding the local neighborhood and various dining options as well as information regarding the San Francisco/Bay area and the hosts are readily available to answer questions as well. The location of this apartment is great as it is just a block and a half from the Castro MUNI station (K, L, M lines), easy walking distance to the Muni N line and the 24 bus (giving you an easy way to get to Golden Gate Park or Haight/Ashbury) stops right out in front of the location. It is very easy to take BART from SFO into the city and transfer to MUNI to get to the apartment, no need to mess with ride sharing or taxi! Zip cars are available at Castro and Market should you want to get out of the city for a day. There are great restaurants in the area in all price ranges. The apartment has a nice kitchenette that is appropriately stocked should you wish to cook. We definitely plan to stay here on our next trip to San Francisco and we could not recommend it highly enough for your consideration. You will not be disappointed!

Located on a Magnolia tree lined residential street just north of San Francisco's famous Castro District. This quiet residential neighborhood is safe and walkable with nice restaurants and shops. And across Market Street is the historic Castro Street theater, restaurants, bars and shops. One block away is our weekly Farmer's Market (seasonal). Located within blocks of ALL San Francisco MUNI light rail lines and the historic F line which features historic street cars from around the world and is a fantastic way to travel to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and more. You won't need a car! See the map - look how many parks are located nearby. Hike? Play tennis? There are a number of tennis courts nearby - play tennis surrounded by redwoods and views of the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay. Or walk a few blocks down 16th Street to Mission Dolores which is where San Francisco was founded. VIsit the historic wooden church which still holds services in German. Dine outside and enjoy the California sun.
