Located in a Queen Anne Victorian in the heart of San Francisco, this location is a perfect setting for exploring the City. Visitors without cars will find a wide range of transportation options: all MUNI train lines are within a couple blocks, including the Historic F line which travels down Market Street to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, farmer's markets, shopping, museums and more. For travelers wanting to visit Union Street, the Marina and Presidio MUNI bus service is available on the same block; the same bus runs through the Castro and Noe Valley in the other direction. Even traveling to and from the airport is just one train connection away. Rental cars are available from several ZipCar locations within a couple blocks. Cars are discouraged; save money and hassle but not having a car in San Francisco. The clean bedroom with private bath is located in a historic Queen Anne Victorian in the Duboce Triangle neighborhood with a wrought iron gate.

A Comfortable Place in a Great Location: This studio has its own exterior entrance. This studio features a comfortable queen size bed, designer sheets, a separate, private bath and separate area for coffee, microwave and supplies and a fireplace. An additional twin bed is available for an additional fee. Stroll to nearby outdoor cafes, a French bistro, a wide range of diverse bars and dance clubs, the historic Castro Theater, the historic Mission Dolores and much more.

Amenities: Your hosts will welcome you with an initial setup of fresh linens and towels and coffee, and are happy to direct you to all of the wonderful amenities San Francisco has to offer. Your hosts both speak English, and one speaks German (Deutsch), and the other speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Very clean, great place and good central location for many SF tourist activites

  • 4 of 5

The property is well-maintained, clean and centrally located near public transportation. Bus stops, street cars and subways are either outside the door or a block or two away. We rented a Zip Car one day that was literally right around the corner. The unit we stayed in for 3 nights was clean and very quite in the evening. The bed was very comfortable too.

The owners were very hospitable and offered tips throughout our stay. Many of which we used; especially for nearby restaurants. There are plenty of good food establishments for reasonable prices nearby. The price for the unit was reasonable for San Francisco. My wife and I would stay here again on future visits. The only downside I can mention is this part of town is more for adults than a family with children. Evenings in "The Castro" can get a little gritty. But that is no fault of the owners and all of SF may be like this. We mainly went to the main tourist attractions during the day and didn't really visit the different little sub-cities within SF other than China Town. We really enjoyed our stay at this property and our visit to SF. Next trip we'll see things we missed in the city this trip and will also hit the wine country. N & L, thank you for helping make our trip a great success.

Really nice SFO Experience

  • 5 of 5

The room and house overall where very well taken care off and clean. The location is really close to transportation. The owners are super nice and gave us great insights on what to do, what not to do and where to get necessary items as well as great dinner selections. Overall we had a great experience in a very San Francisco style home with a great urban experience. Thank you Laurence!!

Excellent Location!

  • 5 of 5

This basement apartment is located perfectly for anyone like my husband and me to explore San Francisco by public transit. It is not far from the intersection of Castro and Market Streets. The apartment is well equipped. Every available space has been thoughtfully utilized for comfort and tastefully decorated. The kitchenette has everything to prepare for breakfast/snack. We had hardboiled eggs, toasted bread, coffee, and/or yogurt with fresh fruits. Nick and Laurence were attentive and responsive to our needs in such way that we felt at home. The apartment was a perfect home base for us to enjoy exploring different neighborhoods of San Francisco!

Location, location, location!!

  • 5 of 5

Laurence and Nick's apartment is in the perfect location, nestled within the Castro district and just a short walk or MUNI/BART ride to anywhere you need to go! Not only is the location great, but the apartment itself was everything we needed...and a few things we never knew we needed! In addition to the spacious living area/bedroom, the apartment has a small kitchenette (but if you're in San Francisco and you're not eating at one of the many fantastic restaurants, something's wrong), a jacuzzi garden tub, and even a towel warmer! Nick and Laurence did everything they could to make us feel welcomed and informed. When we told them we were bringing a rental car, they quickly warned us about parking in San Francisco (and boy were they right)! They also gave us tips and suggestions of places to go and things to do. They were very gracious hosts, and we will, of course, try to stay with them again the next time we are in San Fran!!

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Overall, wonderful stay. Laurence was very helpful and accomadating in arranging a time for us to arrive, showing us the unit, and providing helpful tips for places to go/eat in the area. He even mailed my shoes back to me when I left them there!

We didn't use the public transportation, but the stop was just down the street if we had wanted to. Be advised if you bring a car, parking is very limited, especially during the week.

The only downside is beyond the control of Laurence and the property. Due to the buses and cars that pass by outside, it is quite loud at night and I had a lot of trouble sleeping two of the nights. My significant other used earplugs and had no problems at all, but they didn't work as well for me. Overall though, wonderful stay with a wonderful host!

Car: not necessary

Located on a Magnolia tree lined residential street just north of San Francisco's famous Castro District. This quiet residential neighborhood is safe and walkable with nice restaurants and shops. And across Market Street is the historic Castro Street theater, restaurants, bars and shops. One block away is our weekly Farmer's Market (seasonal). Located within blocks of ALL San Francisco MUNI light rail lines and the historic F line which features historic street cars from around the world and is a fantastic way to travel to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and more. You won't need a car! See the map - look how many parks are located nearby. Hike? Play tennis? There are a number of tennis courts nearby - play tennis surrounded by redwoods and views of the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay. Or walk a few blocks down 16th Street to Mission Dolores which is where San Francisco was founded. VIsit the historic wooden church which still holds services in German. Dine outside and enjoy the California sun.
