I am the Vice President of our Family owned heating and air conditioning company in the west suburb of Schaumburg Illinois. I have been in the heating and air conditioning business since 1976. I am a licensed electrician and I have a Managing Brokers Real Estate License.
Paul Harty purchased this apartment in 2002

The location is wonderfully located for easy access for all public transportation to downtown Chicago. The public transportation downtown Andersonville and Lake Michigan are within walking distance from the apartment.

This home is unique because of its vintage character from the early 1900’s and friendly neighborhood. Being on the second floor you get privacy from the tree lined street. This location is very accessible to downtown Chicago and the walk is less than 2-blocks to the heart of downtown Andersonville.
My husband, two kids, and I stayed here for 8 nights. We loved it!! We were in love with the historic charm and neat features of the flat, and the furniture and wall decor was great! The flat had virtually everything we needed, including some thoughtful extras. We especially appreciated the fans in each bedroom, the light-blocking wooden blinds, and the shower caddy and shelf in the bathroom. It's a small bathroom, but we had space for all of our stuff! The bedroom closets have an insane amount of storage, which was great. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed, and within a couple of days, we were used to working in the smaller space. The sunroom was a delightful extra, as well! Best of all, the flat was very clean, which is important to us. Paul was very friendly and accommodating, and was very concerned with making sure our stay was perfect. When we did need something (extra kitchen towels, bags for recycling), Paul got it to us right away. There's a big benefit to having the owner living right beneath you! The flat itself is wonderful, but what really sold us on this place is the Andersonville neighborhood! Clark St is only two blocks away, and is amazing! There are all kinds of wonderful restaurants and shops, and we could have spent much more time exploring. Don't miss A Taste of Heaven and the Swedish Bakery. They have a great weekly farmer's market, as well. We never used public transportation, but driving into the city or to points along the Lake was easy and didn't take very long. The beach is nearby and is easy to find. Bottom line: We loved the flat and the neighborhood, and would stay here again in a heartbeat! You won't go wrong if you rent this place.
This was a terrific apartment on a quiet and safe residential street. We came for a wedding and enjoyed the Andersonville area and a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. We'll definitely stay here again.
I stayed here just prior to the July 4th holiday in 2016. Although I am an Illinois native (born in Chicago), I was not familiar with Andersonville. I was definitely not disappointed, the rental and the location would be hard to beat!
The apartment is appointed perfectly to bring back memories of Chicago and everything is provided for you. Had I needed anything (which I didn't), I had every confidence that requests would be promptly honored.
I was a little concerned about coming without a car but, believe me, for anything within reasonable distance, it is really unnecessary. The public transportation system is excellent and nearby (I was happily surprised that CTA-specific navigation information is now built right in to the popular map applications on mobile devices... how easy is that?).
I also had very few plans pre-determined (except for a concert I attended at Wrigley Field), but suggestions from the locals were freely offered. All you have to do is spend some time in downtown Andersonville, enjoy the sights, food, and people and you'll have plenty of new friends before you know it - AND suggestions for places "the locals go to". Perfect!
I would love to return here in the future, and perhaps I will, but my recent trip and the lodgings exceeded my expectations.
Very comfortable place to call home for a few days. We traveled with my parents who are in their 70's to Chicago for a wedding that took place less than a mile away. We found the Winona Residence through a co-worker that has stayed here twice and it came highly recommended. Very quiet, clean and non smoking which are always at the top of my list. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything needed to enjoy a small meal . We rented the garage and left the car there for the weekend which was a relief as street parking is pretty tight in the evenings. The owner was organized and contacted us at the appropriate times to instruct us how to get into the apartment. He sent a very well thought out email listing all the transportation modes between the airport, downtown loop and the apartment. Transportation to the loop area was a breeze with his instructions. It is about a 7 block walk the the "L" train and about 3 blocks to the bus stop and all of the restaurants you would need. Grocery store is about 5 blocks. Best of all a brewery is about 3 blocks away. Kind of hidden but easy to find via your smart phone. Very nice safe area. You never feel uncomfortable around here. Thanks to Paul for providing an outstanding, clean and reasonable priced option to stay in the Andersonville area. We will be back.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend in Andersonville. Paul's apartment is so peaceful and has many Chicago touches. The apartment is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Paul was very helpful in answering our questions and providing information about the neighborhood. Easy walking, browsing and dining in Andersonville which is one of my favorite Chicago neighborhoods. Right around the corner from the Neo-futurists Theatre. Will definitely return.
We chose this apartment primarily for its location near our son but we will come back because the apartment is just a great place to stay. Paul is a gracious and helpful host and the apartment amenities are plentiful. We traveled from Kansas to Chicago by train and used primarily public transportation to get around Chicago to do some of the usual tourist stuff - the Architecture Boat Tour, a visit to the Art Institute Museum, and a Cubs game, to name a few. We also spent time becoming familiar with some more of the bars and restaurants in Andersonville which was also time well spent.
This apartment is quiet and clean and we hope to be back someday!
The apartment is located in the Chicago Neighborhood of Andersonville. And Down Town Andersonville is only 2-blocks from the vacation rental. Andersonville was selected by Redfin in 2015 #7 in The 10 Hottest Neighborhoods to live in the USA.
