Enjoyed the area since childhood. After relocating to the Carolinas, felt a need to return and spend time in Northern Michigan. Owned since 95
Quiet, peaceful, unspoiled area with many recreational choices on land and water.
The Lake Esau rental worked perfectly for my family. A beautiful lake with minimal boat traffic. Modern cottage with a wonderful upstairs loft and full modern bath with jetted tub. We really enjoyed the breeze from the large deck facing the lake. Be sure to stop at the Portage store for ice cream right down the street.
We enjoyed two lovely weeks at this Lake Esau getaway. It was a great location for the grandkids as the lake is clean and clear (sand shoes necessary) and the swim raft provided hours of laughter and fun. The proximity to the North Bay beach was a big hit with everyone...sugar sand beach and crystal clear water on this Lake Huron bay. The Marina, Lighthouses and scenic Presque Isle area was a refreshing break from the work-a-day world. Walked the quiet roads and trails and swam every day. Hated to leave!
My family and I were able to enjoy a peaceful week at the cabin on Lake Esau. Being slightly off the grid and the beautiful setting allowed us to completely unwind and lose the tensions of life. If you are looking for a clear and quiet lake this is the place to be. If you ever get bored of being on the water you can head to the club house to play pool or fuse ball or if it is raining you can swim in the indoor pool. Access to private beaches on Lake Huron is a plus as well. We enjoyed our time at the cottage and John was very helpful and great to work with.
We just spent a week at this lovely cottage on Lake Esau. John made sure that we had everything we needed for an absolutely perfect vacation. We hope to return next year with our teenage daughters. Being familiar with the area helped us plan our trip but everything we needed was near or a short drive away. We also received a very helpful welcome letter prior to our arrival that made it easy to get around. We were so sad to leave but hope to get to enjoy this gem again in the future.
We've been staying at this cabin for the last 3 years. All I can say is.... it's a slice of heaven... We take our grand kids with us and they enjoy every moment. If its raining no worries.. the club house is a great place where they can still swim and get all that energy out while you can check your email if you'd like using the free internet connection. I love that the lake is so clean, and everyone I've met has been so nice. The area is so beautiful with endless nature. I also rent it in the fall when the all the girls in my family want some of what we call female bonding... In other words a long weekend with our husbands. We always have so much fun making memories here.
The Presque Isle cottage is the perfect place to rest and relax; my husband and I and our two children (20 & 24) did just that! We were initially concerned that the cottage itself did not have WiFi and the cell phone service was spotty, but being less connected to work was a blessing. We spent our days with a good book, taking leisurely boat rides and bicycle rides -with lots of trails to explore. We were only 25 minutes to Alpena but we only made the trip twice. We found a fun antique store right next to the yummy Cabin Creek Coffee place on Second Ave and we found the best fresh meat counter at Perch’s IGA. We purchased their homemade jalapeno and cheddar brats and their stuffed mushroom and Swiss burgers…sooo delicious! The cabin’s covered wrap-around deck was an added bonus for grilling and dining and could be used rain or shine. The cottage is clean and comfortable with great views. The cottage fit the four of us well, the kids each had their own room and my husband and I enjoyed the loft bedroom with the lovely new master bath. The clubhouse is a beautiful facility, although we were content to just hang back at the cottage. We did however, put our boat in at Grand Lake one afternoon. Like Lake Esau, it is clear and picturesque, but “Grand” in size. We had a wonderful week at the Presque Isle cottage. Thank you John for being so helpful in meeting all of our needs and for sharing your restful retreat!
