About the property

5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 15)

* Please note that if the minimum nightly rental period ( 5 nights depending on the season) is not available on the calendar I am happy to accept shorter stays.

This has to be one of the most unique log properties in Minnesota. It was built on the site of a logging camp back in the 1920's, is almost 3000 square feet and great for entertaining large groups.

The sloping hardwood floors add character to the hand hewn beam, vaulted rooms. An expansive four season porch seats up to 20 people for dining or serene relaxation overlooking the lake. The picture windows on the 4 season porch open to create an airy, fragrant screen porch during warmer months. The large, level grassed yard is ideal for outdoor activities.

Master Bedroom - 2 Full XL w/bath, 1st Floor Bedroom North - 1 Queen, 1st Floor Bedroom South - 1 Full, Loft North - 2 Queen, Loft South - 1 Full and 1 Twin XL.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We celebrated a wonderful family time together as we extended our 50th wedding anniversary!! We (grandma and grandpa) had so much fun with Am and Jon, Ann and Curt and sons (12-9) and Carl and Kelly and girls (6-4). We cooked together, read books, played cards and had movie nights with popcorn. Uncle Curt brought his boat and we saw our grand kids try out tubing, wakeboarding, and becoming very good at it. We also did fishing (not too good), kayak and paddleboat. It was all alot of fun. But the most fun for me (grandma) was to have out family share good times all together.

Loved our stay, BUT!

  • 1 of 5

There were nine of us that stayed. What a wonderful week with family. The property is beautiful and was very quite and relaxing. We brought our own kayaks and went kayaking just about everyday and enjoyed every minute of it. Loved our stay, BUT when my sister and her husband went to bed they found food crumbs and a bread bag tie between the sheets. We were thankful there was a washer and dryer available. In the master bed room the sink in the bathroom was just about pluged it drained very very slow and we couldn't get the sauna to work. We were excited to hear there was a kayak , row boat and a paddle boat for us to use, however the paddle boat and the row boat had about 4 inches of water in them and one of the paddles was broken on the row boat The water that was in these vessels looked like it was there awhile. The refrigerator was set to high and it ended up freezing some of our vegetables that were in the bottom crisper. As far as this place being clean I've seen cleaner. We left this place cleaner then we found it.

We Loved having fires in the fire pit and the family time was priceless. Will we ever consider renting this property again? I'm sorry to say "No".

Family reunion

Great spaces. Kids loved the loft. The children had lots of space to run. Close enough to North Shore for day trips.

Good

  • 3 of 5

This place is great for a big group. Very rustic, and by rustic! Lots of charm. The lofts are hard to access, especially to elderly and young, dangerous even. We had a great time.

Map

We are 30 minutes Northeast of Downtown Duluth. There are three restaurant/bars within apx. 12 miles. Briar Lake is almost 1 mile long and varies in width as you can see on our website picture on the local info tab (See Link Below). Briar is a DNR designated trout lake and stocked with Rainbows, Splake, and Donaldson trout. The water is clear and warm, (when not covered by snow and ice). Depth in the center is about 30 feet. Briar is a spring fed lake with a creek outflow on the far end. Great for boating, water skiing, kayaks, jet skis and long enough to take off and land float planes. We also have a shallow cove that has launched boats up to 20 feet in length.

Other Activities: Shopping, kayaking, Boating, Snowboarding, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Racquetball, Horseshoes
