Minnesota Cabin Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 15)

* Please note that if the minimum nightly rental period ( 5 nights depending on the season) is not available on the calendar I am happy to accept shorter stays.

This has to be one of the most unique log properties in Minnesota. It was built on the site of a logging camp back in the 1920's, is almost 3000 square feet and great for entertaining large groups.

The sloping hardwood floors add character to the hand hewn beam, vaulted rooms. An expansive four season porch seats up to 40 people for dining or serene relaxation overlooking the lake. The picture windows on the 4 season porch open to create an airy, fragrant screen porch during warmer months. The large, level grassed yard is ideal for outdoor activities.

Master Bedroom - 2 Full XL w/bath, 1st Floor Bedroom North - 1 Queen, 1st Floor Bedroom South - 1 Full, Loft North - 2 Queen, Loft South - 1 Full and 1 Twin XL.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We celebrated a wonderful family time together as we extended our 50th wedding anniversary!! We (grandma and grandpa) had so much fun with Am and Jon, Ann and Curt and sons (12-9) and Carl and Kelly and girls (6-4). We cooked together, read books, played cards and had movie nights with popcorn. Uncle Curt brought his boat and we saw our grand kids try out tubing, wakeboarding, and becoming very good at it. We also did fishing (not too good), kayak and paddleboat. It was all alot of fun. But the most fun for me (grandma) was to have out family share good times all together.

Beautiful & Rustic Northern MN Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Wow this cabin has something special, the pictures do no justice! There is no shortage of rooms or beds so it sleeps 17 comfortably (if you don't mind sharing a room or climbing up a loft ladder). Perfect for large groups or big family get togethers. The sauna, lake, living room and porch are my personal highlights for sure!

Our group of friends were celebrating a recent newlywed couple who were married out-of-state and this was the perfect getaway to honor them. The yard and bonfire were great for games and late night chats. Plenty of room for large group dining as well.

The only reason for 4 stars was the cleanliness/organization of the kitchen, but the owner took my post-visit comments very kindly so I doubt this will be an issue in the future. This place is worth your stay and then again. We cannot wait to go back! Enjoy!!!

post-Grandma's Marathon recovery

  • 5 of 5

A group of 12 friends stayed here following Grandma's Marathon and it was the perfect getaway to recover from the marathon and enjoy time together. The yard was perfect for a bags tournament, the fire pit was our central gathering place every night, and the steaks over the fire were DIVINE. The house was big enough that it never felt cramped with 12 people, 2 babies, and 4 dogs. We even were able to call the neighbor for a pontoon ride, which was one of the highlights of our trip. Would have loved to have extra light bulbs sitting around as we did have a couple go out during our stay, but otherwise everything was perfect.

Perfect for a large family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had so much fun here! We had 15 people and a dog and felt there was more than enough room. The kids loved sleeping in the lofts and everyone enjoyed the indoor and outdoor fires, trout fishing, boating, and baseball in the yard. The house had everything we needed and more. We can't wait to visit again!

An unusual set up

  • 2 of 5

The setting and location of this house are lovely. However, it is quite remote, and about a 30 minute drive to find groceries and other activities. We were disappointed that the pinball machine that was advertised was out of order.

Two of the bedrooms can only be reached by steep ladders, and don't have secure doors to close. so we could not put young children or their parents up there, and had only three bedrooms to use.

WE enjoyed the large sun porch, grilling dinner, hanging out in the living room.

The house is well stocked with cooking supplies.

Owner's Response: Dear Joan, I am sorry you were not completely satisfied with the property location and sleeping room access. In 5 plus years we have never had those complaints and it is likely that other guests spent more time reviewing the property listing before making their reservation and their expectations were met or exceeded in most cases. I apologize for the pinball machine being out of service and we are searching for a company to repair it. We strive to provide a quality experience and have posted pictures that show the property fully, including the ladder to the lofts. In our experience the ladders to the lofts are one of the things young people really enjoy. Typically our guests review the location before arrival and bring provisions from home or shop for groceries in town before coming out to the country. Staying at the Lodge is like going to your own cabin, which would also require bringing what you need with you or driving back to town.

Wonderful wedding weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time enjoying the fall leaves while celebrating our wedding with close friends and family! The cabin was beautiful and perfectly accomodated our guests. We enjoyed wonderful campfires and took the paddleboat and rowboats out for a spin. Lots of space for croquet and yard games with our guests. Enjoyed playing Uno and other board games when the night got too cold. We would happily return to this place again, and will likely do so for our anniversary. Thank you for helping us have a great weekend!

Briar lake

  • 5 of 5

Everything you need and sleeps 15 comfortably. Very beautiful rustic but modern cabin in a peaceful setting on Briar Lake. Our family had a great time enjoying the kayaks and paddle boats as well as some trout fishing. We will be going back.

Map

We are 30 minutes Northeast of Downtown Duluth. There are three restaurant/bars within apx. 12 miles. Briar Lake is almost 1 mile long and varies in width as you can see on our website picture on the local info tab (See Link Below). Briar is a DNR designated trout lake and stocked with Rainbows, Splake, and Donaldson trout. The water is clear and warm, (when not covered by snow and ice). Depth in the center is about 30 feet. Briar is a spring fed lake with a creek outflow on the far end. Great for boating, water skiing, kayaks, jet skis and long enough to take off and land float planes. We also have a shallow cove that has launched boats up to 20 feet in length.

Other Activities: Shopping, kayaking, Boating, Snowboarding, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Racquetball, Horseshoes
