This has to be one of the most unique log properties in Minnesota. It was built on the site of a logging camp back in the 1920's, is almost 3000 square feet and great for entertaining large groups.
The sloping hardwood floors add character to the hand hewn beam, vaulted rooms. An expansive four season porch seats up to 40 people for dining or serene relaxation overlooking the lake. The picture windows on the 4 season porch open to create an airy, fragrant screen porch during warmer months. The large, level grassed yard is ideal for outdoor activities.
Master Bedroom - 2 Full XL w/bath, 1st Floor Bedroom North - 1 Queen, 1st Floor Bedroom South - 1 Full, Loft North - 2 Queen, Loft South - 1 Full and 1 Twin XL.
We celebrated a wonderful family time together as we extended our 50th wedding anniversary!! We (grandma and grandpa) had so much fun with Am and Jon, Ann and Curt and sons (12-9) and Carl and Kelly and girls (6-4). We cooked together, read books, played cards and had movie nights with popcorn. Uncle Curt brought his boat and we saw our grand kids try out tubing, wakeboarding, and becoming very good at it. We also did fishing (not too good), kayak and paddleboat. It was all alot of fun. But the most fun for me (grandma) was to have out family share good times all together.
This place was amazing!! I got married here and could not have dreamed a better venue!!
We had family ages 2-70 and everyone enjoyed their stay. The kids were never bored, the adults could relax and enjoy. We had bonfires, swam, took advantage of the boats and plenty of room for everyone to do what they enjoyed. Beds were comfortable, bedrooms were quiet. Loved the big shower/sauna combo. Other bathroom was spacious and beautiful. Plenty of towels and linens for all. Beautiful scenery with the thick woods and lake right outside the house. Great family and larger group get away. Well maintained and owner was wonderful to work with. Highly recommended.
We were very disappointed that the listing showed a pinball machine that DIDNOT work. The boat ramp where you could launch a boat was filled in with silt. The refrigerator did not keep up well and froze some of the produce. The location was good. Use of the wood pile worked well but the book in the lodge is misleading about the use of it; after I talked to the owner we realized it was for our use.
We loved briar lake lodge, our family has been there 2 years in a row and plan to come back next year. We enjoy the beautiful cabin and it's relaxing atmosphere.
Loved the lodge. Kids had a great time swimming Fishing was great. Ate around the fire pit every night. Private place on a beautiful lake
Wow this cabin has something special, the pictures do no justice! There is no shortage of rooms or beds so it sleeps 17 comfortably (if you don't mind sharing a room or climbing up a loft ladder). Perfect for large groups or big family get togethers. The sauna, lake, living room and porch are my personal highlights for sure!
Our group of friends were celebrating a recent newlywed couple who were married out-of-state and this was the perfect getaway to honor them. The yard and bonfire were great for games and late night chats. Plenty of room for large group dining as well.
The only reason for 4 stars was the cleanliness/organization of the kitchen, but the owner took my post-visit comments very kindly so I doubt this will be an issue in the future. This place is worth your stay and then again. We cannot wait to go back! Enjoy!!!
We are 30 minutes Northeast of Downtown Duluth. There are three restaurant/bars within apx. 12 miles. Briar Lake is almost 1 mile long and varies in width as you can see on our website picture on the local info tab (See Link Below). Briar is a DNR designated trout lake and stocked with Rainbows, Splake, and Donaldson trout. The water is clear and warm, (when not covered by snow and ice). Depth in the center is about 30 feet. Briar is a spring fed lake with a creek outflow on the far end. Great for boating, water skiing, kayaks, jet skis and long enough to take off and land float planes. We also have a shallow cove that has launched boats up to 20 feet in length.
Other Activities: Shopping, kayaking, Boating, Snowboarding, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa, Racquetball, Horseshoes
