Our comfortable cottage with its spectacular waterfront view is waiting for you. Whether you are traveling to Kalamazoo on business, visiting Western Michigan University for its many events, or just looking for a close to home retreat, this is a perfect choice for your accommodations. The cottage offers spacious rooms, with two decks overlooking beautiful Bankson Lake, and a 60' beach area. The unique corner lot offers a second view of 'Little Bankson', an undeveloped area where wildlife abounds. Campfire area w/wood supply so get the s'more supplies ready! A sandy swimming area makes it a great place for the kids, or for just floating around. The surrounding vineyards and orchards provide a quiet ambiance and a local charm.
Additional Information: There is plenty of sun but also ample shade to keep you cool on those hot summer days. The immediate area boasts vineyards and a quiet setting. A fishing row boat is included, or fish right off the dock (and the fishing is great - walleye, muskie, and bluegill). If you are bringing your own boat or jet skis, the public boat launch is 1/8 of a mile down the road.
This is a great place for families to reconnect and spend some quality time together. I will be happy to help you with any information you need to help make your trip memorable and fun. Two couples could also easily share the cottage and would have separate bathrooms and room for privacy.
For those who may be traveling to the area on business, we offer a unique alternative to hotel accommodations & perhaps you can bring the family along!
This is a great little house that is perfect for a weekend getaway with friends/family. The unit was very clean and it sleeps up to 8 comfortably. Unexpected perks included Direct TV and wifi, not to mention lots of "extras" such as inner tubes, a paddleboat, etc. The wonderful view and massive porch is awesome, and it's a really great lake. Robin was super friendly/responsive throughout the process and we'd definitely come back.
We loved our stay at this house.
The first thing we noticed was the size, it's a lot bigger that we thought it would be, so we had plenty of space. It was very clean and well maintained.
The second, and the best thing we noticed, was the amazing view of the lake from the deck. We spent many hours just taking in the sight of the beautiful and quiet lake.
The owners of this house are also incredibly kind and helpful. We used the rowboat and one of the oars broke. Within minutes of contacting the owners, we got a response and had a new oar for the boat.
There's also a vineyard right next to the house. When the owners stopped by to fix the oar, they invited us to walk through the vineyard whenever we wanted and pick grapes. The grapes we picked were out of this world good. We had never had same day picked from the vine grapes before, and no words can describe the difference in taste and texture. Sounds silly, but these grapes blew us away and we found ourselves spending time walking through the gorgeous vineyards, picking grapes and feeling like we were in a scene from a movie.
We also used the paddleboat, which was fun and the area near the pier is very clear, no weeds and perfect for swimming, so we swam a lot as well.
Fishing was another great part of our trip and we caught many bass, walleye and bluegill.
We also had a fire in the outdoor fire pit every night. It's right on the water and I already miss sitting by the lake, with the sound of waves and the stars above us in this great secluded location.
We really only have great things to say about our stay. It was one of the best getaways in recent memory for us.
Thanks to the owners Robin and Steve for having this house available.
We had a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage. The water was warm and the view from the deck was amazing. Technicolor sunsets every night! My husband and sons fished at least twice a day (caught lots of fish), and played golf at nearby courses when they weren't fishing.
The cottage had plenty of room for all of us (five adults) and we never felt crowded together. It was extremely clean and everything was in great shape. Robin was very responsive when we needed her. (Minor issue...nothing to do with the cottage.)
We spent a lot of time on the deck: eating, drinking and just hanging out. The beach was great for sunbathing and playing in the water, and we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening, making s'mores. Couldn't have been better...we'll definitely be back!
this was our best cottage set up so far after several events up north. very nice appliances, plenty of kitchen supplies best lake experience for my 20' boat ,tubeing and wakeboarding. we are already planning to be back next year. robin is a pleasure to deal with, best cottage owner I have dealt with.

Our multi-generational family really enjoyed the Bankson Lake property. The rooms were ally very spacious and comfortable, but we spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the view or on the waterfront. The eight year old particularly enjoyed swimming out to the raft, playing in the sand, and going on paddle boat rides wth her parents. We also enjoyed going to the local u-pick berry farms and wineries.
Great place for a family vacation. This was our second time at this property. We highly recommend it for adults with kids, since the bedrooms are in the back of the house. Abundant space and a great lake for swimming and fishing.
Kalamazoo and Western Michigan University are a 20 minute drive. Kalamazoo offers theater, art and music events with a vibrant downtown. The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is great fun for your aviation enthusiasts. There are many recommended restaurants & wineries nearby and only 50 minutes to Lake Michigan day trip adventures. The cottage is located halfway between Chicago and Detroit approx. 10 minutes from I -94 Paw Paw exit, in the heart of beautiful wine country. Our nextdoor vineyard offers a unique setting to enjoy a nature hike, or a peaceful country picnic.
