Our comfortable cottage with its spectacular waterfront view is waiting for you. Whether you are traveling to Kalamazoo on business, visiting Western Michigan University for its many events, or just looking for a close to home retreat, this is a perfect choice for your accommodations. The cottage offers spacious rooms, with two decks overlooking beautiful Bankson Lake, and a 60' beach area. The unique corner lot offers a second view of 'Little Bankson', an undeveloped area where wildlife abounds. Campfire area w/wood supply so get the s'more supplies ready! A sandy swimming area makes it a great place for the kids, or for just floating around. The surrounding vineyards and orchards provide a quiet ambiance and a local charm.
Additional Information: There is plenty of sun but also ample shade to keep you cool on those hot summer days. The immediate area boasts vineyards and a quiet setting. A fishing row boat is included, or fish right off the dock (and the fishing is great - walleye, muskie, and bluegill). If you are bringing your own boat or jet skis, the public boat launch is 1/8 of a mile down the road.
This is a great place for families to reconnect and spend some quality time together. I will be happy to help you with any information you need to help make your trip memorable and fun. Two couples could also easily share the cottage and would have separate bathrooms and room for privacy.
For those who may be traveling to the area on business, we offer a unique alternative to hotel accommodations & perhaps you can bring the family along!
Great place for a family vacation. This was our second time at this property. We highly recommend it for adults with kids, since the bedrooms are in the back of the house. Abundant space and a great lake for swimming and fishing.
I must say this was one of the best houses I rented . the house itself the location right on the beach and the lake
having your boat right next to the house PERFECT. we will definitely come back . and I highly recommend it.
Owner Robin is sooooo nice and easy to deal with . thank you for letting us use your home. one more thing
the use of paddle boat , for kids it was so much fun they are old enough to go out by themselves on it soo much fun
We just returned home from our vacation on Bankson Lake and our family is already checking the calendar and planning a stay at this home for 2016. Robin was flexible and accomodating throughout the booking process and even during our stay. The view of the lake was breathtaking and the sandy beach front is amazing! There were 6 adults and two children (ages 6 and 4 years old) and we didn't want to leave this paradise! The kids enjoyed the paddle boat, fishing off the pier (the blue gills were plentiful!), playing in the sandy bottom water, and making sand castles on the beach. We brought our boat and spent time boating and tubing. The home is quite large for a "cottage" as sleeping arrangements were very comfortable and there are 2 full showers. Many thanks for a wonderful vacation! We hope to see you next year!
We just returned from a great week long family vacation. The description of the property is spot on. The cottage is very clean, roomy, comfortable & well equipped. Robin was very good to work with all through the steps of the rental process. She was professional and very quick to respond to any questions we had. The water is very clean & has a gentle slope with a sandy bottom which would it great for small children. We were able to catch decent size blue gills & small bass right off of the dock. We also put the 4 person paddle boat & row boat to good use during our stay. During a couple of cloudy mornings we took advantage of the winery & brewery tours in nearby Paw Paw and returned to a sun soaked beach & deck and inviting lake. There are also a couple of very good restaurants, D Coy Ducks & Big T's in the town of Lawton that we ate at. The rest of the time was spent putting the BBQ to good use for enjoyable meals & the cottage. The owners supplied a number of water toys that are stored in a nice deckbox. They also have a giant cooler on the main deck that was great for cooling pop/water/beer and, supplied all of the paper products/soap. There were extra window fans if the need arose. The area was very quiet & the beds were comfortable. Hopefully our family's vacation weeks will fall in place again next year. If so, this property will be our first rental choice. Thanks again Robin! We appreciated your hospitality and hope to rent from you again in the future.
From the initial inquiry about the property to the day of our departure, I was pleased with my choice of vacation rental. Robin always answered any questions I had immediately and informatively. My husband and I vacationed here with our daughter, husband, and four young children. The layout of the house is such that their family were in the back of the house away from the master bedroom and kitchen allowing all of us privacy and quiet. The view of the lake from the deck is wonderful, and I spent every morning drinking my coffee on either of the two decks. The house has its own beach where the kids learned to swim. It was so nice to be allowed to use the owner's beach toys and tubes, and the pedal boat was an immediate success. We went out on the lake often pedaling around. The lake is clean and quiet even on the weekend. I brought my bike and rode several miles a few days. The roads are great with little traffic, and it is so wonderful to ride in such a beautiful, serene setting.
Just a great vacation.
Kalamazoo and Western Michigan University are a 20 minute drive. Kalamazoo offers theater, art and music events with a vibrant downtown. The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is great fun for your aviation enthusiasts. There are many recommended restaurants & wineries nearby and only 50 minutes to Lake Michigan day trip adventures. The cottage is located halfway between Chicago and Detroit approx. 10 minutes from I -94 Paw Paw exit, in the heart of beautiful wine country. Our nextdoor vineyard offers a unique setting to enjoy a nature hike, or a peaceful country picnic.
