About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths

We are a true water front property facing John's Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean with spectacular Western Sunsets. Although we TOTALLY remodeled the house in late 2008 we have decided to take it to yet another level. After listening to our valued clients we installed a whole house water filtration system designed by MIT engineers and MIT chemists that are used on nuclear subs. In May 20015 we finished ripping the top floor apart and adding a large bath room above the existing kitchen. It features a big shower, his & her vanities and a whirlpool tub with ocean views. There is a see through fireplace to the bedroom. Both bedrooms are DOUBLE in size and feature a sitting area with large flat screen TV's, floor to ceiling glass windows and doors and private champagne balconies. Both bedrooms have their own closets and baths. The downstairs master had the ceiling slope eliminated and new floor to ceiling windows plus a door to the deck to access the new....6 person hot tub spa!!!! Imagine sitting in the spa with a libation watching the western sunset while the tunes play on the outside speakers. The living room furniture has been upgraded to genuine leather furniture and new tables. The whole house has been converted to central gas heat and central AIR CONDITIONING!!!! No more stuffy nights. We also have a gas WHOLE house generator to insure you have no vacation power interruptions. The grill has also been plumbed in for your enjoyment, no tanks to swamp. A new lawn and grass patio/driving range have been built down by the new hammock. Upon entering you will be treated to our expansive 'wall of glass' water view. Sitting on the western side of Pemaquid Point you will look out across John's Bay at Miles Tower and over 1000 lobster pot buoys which are harvested in the morning. Keep an eye out for seals, dolphins and minke whales off shore. We have a huge "pet" Bald Eagle named Uncle Sam who sits in the evergreen 40 feet from the second floor balcony looking down on the spa. Evening brings spectacular western sunsets. Looking southwest you will see the open ocean and islands named Threads of Life and Thumb Cap. Enjoy all this from the 33 X 12 deck, featuring a 12 X 12 motorized retractable awning, gas grill, wall lanterns, Adirondack chairs and stereo speakers.

Take 4 steps down to the new lawn and walk just 40 feet to the shore. Located here you will find a big fire pit for cool night gatherings. Inside the open floor plan was designed for entertaining and easy vacation living. The kitchen features quartz counter tops, stainless steel appliances including a GAS stove/oven, a glass front wood burning stove, walk in pantry and spectacular water views. The living and dining area feature local art with matching nautical decor, Samsung 55"flat screen TV, stereo sound system and a beautiful wood burning stone fireplace. The first floor master bedroom features 'the room with a view' where you will sit up in bed and see the water everywhere. This bedroom also features a queen size bed, walk in closet and flat screen TV. On the main floor there is a large bathroom with a bath tub/shower and a separate laundry. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms. One has a king bed and the other has a double bed plus bunk bed, living area and balcony. Every room has large ceiling fans and the original gorgeous, wide, Maine Pumpkin Pine floors. Every appliance is new as are the electrical and plumbing fixtures. Recessed lights abound and every light switch has a dimmer allowing you to set the mood.

The home is located in the upscale Seawood Park featuring safety for all and beautiful walking paths. The property is surrounded with tall fir trees and abundant wild roses, raspberries and lilacs to insure privacy while you enjoy over 1200 feet of oceanfront. Near the flag pole you will find lobster traps and buoys that have washed up on our shore. We are very near Shaw's restaurant where they filmed 'Message In A Bottle'. Here you can buy lobster right off the boat. The famous Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is just down the road. Make plans now to visit this beautiful piece of paradise and make beautiful memories for you and yours. Cleaning fees, linens, taxes and firewood are included. We are the house with the red front doors! Be sure to scroll all the way down to see all the great photos. You have seen the rest, now stay at the best! Don't settle for no western sunset, hot, stuffy, moldy and old when Seas The Day still has vacancies. We tend to fill up a year in advance with repeat clients. Our week runs Saturday to Saturday as flight service is limited on Sunday. All short term rentals include cleaning, linen, taxes, towel service and firewood. We do NOT do short term rentals as our cleaning, linen & towel service and caretaking fee is fixed.

About The Owner

Although we make our home in Nashville Tennessee, we have rented 2-3 times a year through VRBO for the past 8 years. Through our wonderful experiences we learned what we needed, wanted and really appreciated in a vacation rental. In 2008 we decided to cross over to 'the other side' and become owners. We looked at southeast beach properties and Rocky Mountain ski resorts. In the end we fell in love with the breathtaking coast of Pemaquid Point Penninsula in New Harbor Maine. We tell our friends and family 'our vacation home is up in the middle of the woods on the ocean in Maine'. It truly is the best of all worlds. All the benefits of the ocean (can you say lobster?!) without the stifling heat. As an avid runner Bon loves logging the miles on the quiet tree lined roads while Bill fishes for striper and blues off the rocky outcropping on the beach. The kids explore the bay and outer islands by kayak looking for seals. We all love walking down to the lighthouse and having breakfast in the restaurant while watching the crashing surf. And of course there are the morning coffee, and evening cocktail walks along the groomed shore path. So calming, so peaceful, so absolutely wonderful. We have done absolutely everything possible to make our home exactly how we would want a rental for our family. We book solid, with many repeat clients, up to a year in advance as many folks book the next year upon check out.

Why The Owner chose Boothbay Harbor Area

You have looked at or even stayed at the rest, now stay at the best! If you want THEE best view and a clean and crisp home this is the one for you. In the winter of 2016 we sealed the basement walls and floor and run a dehumidifier 7/24. When you open the basement door take a big sniff, nice and fresh and this carries over to the whole house! many houses up here smell musty and moldy. Bill is very allergic to mold so all the furniture, window treatments and hardwood floors as opposed to carpet make our home crisp and clean.

What makes this house unique

April, our meticulous cleaning team leader, is married to Shaun the Lobstahman. he delivers fresh out of the water to the door live or steamed (not boiled) seven days a week cheaper than Subway sandwiches. And David Cheney delivers the best oysters in America to the door and puts on a shucking demonstration. Then there is the ocean front spa for 6 with our spectacular sunsets. Oh, the hammock too and life on the deck.

Relaxing vacation in a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

My family of four spent our summer vacation at this great home. It's beautifully done, had plenty of space, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and it was very clean. The view was perfect from every room - but especially from the hot tub which soon became our favorite spot. Bill shared lots of good ideas that made our vacation very enjoyable. Don't miss the breakfast at Pemaquid Lighthouse!

The Best Week Ever

  • 5 of 5

We have spent a week in Maine for the last three years but our recent week at Seas the Day was "the best week ever" according to our two sons. The ocean views are gorgeous, the rocks attract sea birds and change with the tides, and sunlight, it's never quite the same view twice, incredibly refreshing. The house has all modern updates and was a very comfortable place for a family of four to spend the week. The kitchen is updated and fully useful, and it was great to grill out on the back deck with all that natural beauty in every direction. Every day we enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor fire pit and exploring along the rocks. The house is easy driving distance to Damariscotta and Boothbay Harbor, walking distance to Pemaquid Beach and the most amazing cinnamon buns ever and we enjoyed a day on Monhegan Island, seeing puffins and dolphins along the way. We can't wait to go back next summer!

You'll never want to leave

  • 5 of 5

We knew it would be nice, but in spite of beautiful photos and descriptions in the VRBO listing, it greatly exceeded our expectations. We have been in the hospitality industry for years having owned a B&B believing in treating guests like we would like to be treated. Clearly the owners of the Seas the Day home uphold the same philosophy because every detail has been thoughtfully tended. The kitchen is well equipped with highend appliances and all the conveniences of home. I wish my knives were as sharp as what I found in the cupboard. Plenty of dishes and nice wine glasses as well as first-rate cookware made every meal a dream to prepare.

-The bedrooms and bathrooms were equally well appointed with extremely comfortable beds and ample linens but the highlight for us were the unbelievable coastal sea views. All bedrooms had access to balconies and decks and provided a relaxing atmosphere to bask in the ocean breezes each morning.

-The main living room had really comfortable seating that took advantage of the rugged Maine coast views as well. It is so tastefully decorated - beachy without the kitschiness so often found in ocean resort homes. There is a beautiful stone fireplace and they provide the firewood! If you just have to keep up the news of the day, each bedroom and main living room have flatscreen TV's and cable.

-By far my favorite space had to be the backyard. The oversized deck had wonderful Adirondack chairs and Weber Genesis grill. I highly recommend getting your hands on some oysters and roast them on the grill. The owners provided the name of a source who can deliver them to your door. The luxurious Hot Springs spa was amazing. We found ourselves in it day and night. There is a great glider by the edge of seawall and comfy hammock where you can get lost in a good book. There's even a firepit for those nights when you want to sit outdoors with the beverage of your choice!

-The entire home is very private as it is situated at the end of a nice seaside community. It is the only home with its own private shoreline but you can go walk and birdwatch along the community beachside trail. It is right next to the Pemaquid Trail that can take you into the quaint village. We wandered down to the Cupboard for breakfast - it's delicious! This entire area has a lot to explore. The Pemaquid lighthouse is less than a mile away and it was a blast climbing along the jagged granite boulders. Be sure to bring your camera! Can't wait to return!!

Heaven on the ocean!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home with extremely high expectations, but even these were exceeded. The wall of windows overlooking the water gave us the feeling of the waves lapping at the door. The sound of the waves was so relaxing that we slept better than in ages. The spa was incredible; we relaxed in it every night before going to bed. The beds were out of this world, and the bamboo sheets were totally over the top . We used all the fireplaces and they made it so cozy and romantic. The nearby villages made shopping and dining a treat; the local restaurants were authentic, charming and had great service. Sean brought us lobsters, right out of the steamer, that were better than we have ever tasted. Reilly's grocery store, 5 minutes away, had everything we needed and was so charming that we looked for an excuse to go back. Though we travel all over the world, there is just something about this home that makes us want to come back here over and over. More than anywhere else we've been, it let us leave our busy world behind for a week. Thank you Bill and Bonnie for sharing your little bit of heaven with us.

Perfect vacation home to rejuvenate

  • 5 of 5

Seas the day is the perfect home to enjoy a great vacation. We felt comfortable and at home as soon as we walked in. The three of us enjoyed each having our own bedroom overlooking the ocean with really nice private baths. Especially the Master Suite !

We could hear the sound of the waves at night:a perfect way to get a great nights sleep. The beds were really comfortable and the linens were luxurious. Also there was plenty of closet space and bureau space to unpack and settle in. Plus the house was sparkling clean.

There were numerous spots outside to relax and from all of them we could see and hear the ocean. It was difficult to choose since they were all so comfortable. And also a great Hot Tub to relax in and enjoy the awesome view.

We cooked many excellent meals because of the fabulous kitchen. We enjoyed using the upgraded appliances, the Cuisinart Cookware and the plentiful selection of nice dishes, pretty glasses for our wine and cocktails and big mugs for our coffee and tea.

The house was a perfect location to take beautiful walks from, explore the area or stay at home to rest and relax and catch up on each other's lives.

So thanks so much Bill and Bon for giving myself and my friends a vacation of a lifetime !

Owner's Response: Deb, we were honored when you said you chose our home to treat your best friends to a vacation to celebrate your Dad's life with the Boothbay Botanical Gardens as your anchor destination. Therefore we were glad they rolled out 35,000 tulips and Mother Nature supplied a sunny, cloudless day with a high off 77 degrees for that excursion. . Perfect! Thank you for the comprehensive review and be sure to come back soon. Best regards, B&B

"Seas the Day" better then ever

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently enjoyed our fourth stay at Seas the Day. The changes Bill made are unbelievable. If you like falling to sleep with the sounds of the waves. If you enjoy relaxing in a hot tub, or just watching the lobster boats pick up the days catch this is the place for you. The master suite is as good as it gets. All new appliances in the kitchen and of course Wifi for those of us who need to be connected. If you also a fan of sunsets look no futher for a spot to go to. The onwers have spared no expense and are very accommodating, always available never intruding. Thanks Bill & Bon.
