Come and enjoy our home away from home, Casa Rio.
Casa Rio Yosemite is a private home on Highway 41 conveniently located just five minutes north of central Oakhurst, California. It is a beautiful private estate property – one of the premier High Sierra locations outside of the National Park – with the property stretching across the river to own a part of the infamous Lewis Fork. Casa Rio Yosemite sits on approximately 9 acres by the river with views and access to Lewis Creek, a view of Deadwood Mountain, and a rare view of central Oakhurst. Casa Rio Yosemite is centrally located – with great access to the town of Oakhurst (3.5 miles), Bass Lake (5.5 miles), and the South Entrance of Yosemite (12 miles). It is no wonder why our home has been popular to Yosemite visitors with its secluded yet accessible location to everything the High Sierras has to offer. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in renting our home for you and your party’s mountain getaway.
Beautiful property; spacious accommodations;
Casa Rio is a very nice place. We enjoyed our stay. Lots of room. Could use a little tlc - little things, nothing major. On arrival a few wastebaskets not empty. Never could get any of the tv's to work. Called number posted for any problems-never got a response.
We stayed at Casa Rio for 4 days and it was wonderful. Comfortable bedding, hot tub was already running when we got there. Very private and cozy. We would stay here again. 10 minutes to Bass Lake where we went swimming, very close to Yosemite.
Beautiful home well accommodated in amazing countryside. Owners are very nice. Loved it! Thanks so much!
Our family of 5 stayed in Casa Rio in Aug '13 for 5 nights as part of a trip around California. The property was sort of clean(ish) and pretty much as described on VBRO. We were surprised about the lack of wardrobes but otherwise the photos represented the place well. It has obviously been a popular rental so is in need of some maintenance and updating but the facilities are good, the hot tub, washing machine, oven, dishwasher, fridge etc were all a good standard and worked well. Low snow and rainfalls during the past winter and the time of year meant that we didn't get to experience the running private river but the setting was lovely and I would imagine that when the river is running it would be spectacular.
The property is 10-15 miles from the gate to Yosemitie, it took us about 30mins to get into the park and a further 1 hour to drive to the valley which was extremely crowded when we visited so expect to spend lots of time in your car. Bass Lake was close by, and provided a great day out and an alternative to trekking around Yosemitie. There were plenty of good amenities in the nearby town of Oakhurst, we shopped there but did not sample the delights of the local eateries
What let the experience of this rental down was the lack of response from the agent when problems occurred. When we raised issues such as the building not being secured because a door wouldn’t shut or lock and the issue of the TV system not working properly the agent didn’t bother to address either despite us contacting him a number of times. A particular concern was the fact that we could not secure the building especially at night time when we were sleeping and despite raising this on the first day of our stay nothing was done Four stars for the property but a reduced rating because of the poor agent.
We had a wonderful stay in Casa Rio. It was great to be able to safely let our dog run around off-leash. The property was as described. We would, and will, recommend staying here. We enjoyed exploring Yosemite, wine tasting, and hiking in the area.
The Gold Country/High Sierras is a historic location in California! Oakhurst is a small town outside of Yosemite National Park that has great amenities for folks traveling through to Yosemite.
Oakhurst is a great logistical point to stop for guests arriving to see Yosemite National Park. Oakhurst is the last town that have all the amenities we need (gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.) before you arrive at the South Entrance of Yosemite National Park. We have amazing restaurants in the area (Elderberry's House & Narrow Gauge Restaurant), grocery stores (VONS & Raley's), and conveniences such as banks & gas stations.
We have found that most renters that visit the park find that a one-day visit to Yosemite Village is enough and would rather enjoy the rest of their time in Casa Rio - where they have a little piece of Yosemite for themselves.
Other Activities: Bass Lake is just around the corner!!
