We have always enjoyed the beauty of nature but, unfortunately, don't live in an area with the beauty of the north Georgia mountains. However, with our home in the north Georgia Mountains, we can experience the beauty of nature. We believe in family and American values and the north Georgia mountains suits us well, even if only for an occasional visit.
Leon & Sharon purchased this cabin in 2005
We chose our house because we loved the secluded, wooded area and trout stream, yet it is close to Helen, Dahlonega and Cleveland. We also love the place because it is suitable for a family gathering and we have many family gatherings there.
When we stay at Mountain Shoals Hideaway, our kids gravitate to the lower level where the game room and games are while us adults can relax on the upper deck. The kids always find something to do and we never have to entertain them unless we take them to the area waterfalls and hiking trails.
My husband and I spend a long weekend here with grown children and their families. We had a delightful time. The kitchen was very well stocked with almost anything you needed which made cooking for a family easy ` including a normal and a Keurig coffee maker. The house was clean with plenty of towels. The mountain stream behind the property was fun to play in. We also enjoyed Vogel State park one day. The tips of the pool sticks had seen better days but we still enjoyed playing. All the DVD and board games choices made waiting out a summer storm fun times. Thank you for a great family weekend!
My family and I stayed at Leon and Sharons wonderful cabin for our Christmas celebration. The cabin was well equipped from the kitchen to the games and dvds.there was something for everyone!! The stream was beautiful!! Some of the family fished, some panned for gold!! The deck was nice for relaxing. The hotel tub was great too!! Thank you Leon and Sharon for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!
The property was spacious and comfortable and in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed ourselves.

My friends and I really enjoyed the coziness of your home ...Thank-you for enclosing the directions to the cabin...
I loved the location of the cabin...we received much needed R&R
My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. The listing accurately described the cabin. It was certainly very clean. We were surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was - everything anyone could hope for was there. There were plenty of comfortable beds for us all to enjoy a good night's sleep. It's great that the kids bedroom was in the basement - away from the adults' late evenings talking and dark enough so they slept in each morning. We all enjoyed trekking to the river and loved sitting on the deck listening to the water below. My granddaughter thought the hot tub was a lot of fun. Not all the jets worked, but that is probably user error. My son's only complaint was the odor of the fresh blacktop paving of the neighboring cabin, but that's certainly not the owner's fault and no reflection on how much we all loved this cabin. My only suggestion is that you might want to consider a new couch and chair for the main floor. What's there now is very well-used and very much broken in. We were at the cabin for our daughter's wedding, so we weren't here to do any other activities or visit attractions. However, relatives from out of state visited wineries and panned for gold and went hiking at nearby parks (Anna Ruby Falls). They had a ball! We would recommend this cabin to anyone, friends and relatives.
This was the second time my brother and I stayed at this property for our annual fall getaway. To sit on the deck, listen to the stream, listen to the birds and watch the stars come out is priceless.
There is nothing missing. Two coffee makers; two computers, printer, fax; movies; board games; foosball; pool table; hot tub; wrap around deck; gas grill; multiple tvs; comfortable beds; spices and cookery to make a certified chef envious.
Although there is a house on each side of this property, you can not see them due to the dense woods separating the properties. Quiet privacy - and an occasional visit from a family of deer.
Leon and Sharon have thought of everything. The cottage is close to Blairsville in the mountains along with Brasstown Bald (Georgia's highest peak) views that will take your breath away; Helen's Swiss/German ambiance with some of the best German food I have eaten; Dahlonaga and the Gold and Gem mines to tease your imagination of the possibility of striking it rich.
This year's visit was better than last years - we are now planning our next trip. Two old brothers bonding in ways that words can not express. Lord willing - we will be back.
Thank you again for sharing your home! It was great.
