The beach cottage is roomy and homey. The 1 bedroom (w/queen-size bed) is separate from the living area to give you privacy if you come with your children. The living room area sleeps 2. The direct access to the beach makes it the perfect place to enjoy being in the sun and then coming in for a nap if you like. You'll never have to leave once you fill up the fridge for your stay.

Within a mile you will find several wonderful restaurants or have pizza delivered if you like. This is the perfect romantic getaway, but children are welcome with their parents of course.

The neighborhood is very quiet, so no late night parties allowed. Swimming, kayaking and other water activities are just out your backdoor. Come and enjoy!

This Point Loma home has been my husband's home since childhood. The cottage unit has been refurbished to make it comfortable for guests. We hope you will come to love the Bay as much as we do.

Notes:
The Navy trains both dolphins and seals in the water and on the beach directly in front of the bungalow during weekdays. It is very entertaining and for no additional fee! In addition, you will see cruise ships coming in and out of the bay and military carriers. The constant Bay activity is a delight. You can see Mexico from the property as well and the first point of entry for the United States is right across the water in front of you. Large yachts dock at the Kona Kai Club across from us and you may see helicopters coming to and from the yacht to deliver passengers from the airport which is just a 5 to 10 minute cab ride from the bungalow.

Perfect location, great hosts.

We have rented several properties through HomeAway (VRBO) and Airbnb and have never been disappointed. We can add this rental to our list of favorites. Everything was as described. Clean and comfortable with all of the amenities you need for a great stay. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bathroom is supplied with several fluffy towels, shampoo, etc. Extremely comfortable bed, which is at the top of our list of "musts". It's always nice having a washer and dryer too.

The location is perfect and the view is spectacular. Karen and John made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for being such gracious hosts.

Awesome beachfront property!

This is a great property in a quiet neighborhood right on the beach. Perfect spot for watching the boats come and go from the marina. Kitchen is very well-equipped if you want to do your own cooking. Close to shopping, restaurants, walking paths, and easy access to downtown as well. The property owners are gracious and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here!

Excellent Cottage Right on the Beach across from Shelter Island

Such a cozy cottage, right on the water and in the heart of Point Loma! Karen and her husband were not at all intrusive but so helpful when asked, providing initial information and great resources for the SD history museum, restaurants, adventures, etc. Everything is close by and very convenient. There's a sandy beach right out the backyard gate (with a combo lock, so your bikes, etc., are safe!). From the patio which has nice tables and chairs, you can watch ships arrive via the main channel to the harbor. Many boats stop to check in at the Harbor Police/Customs office directly across the water from the backyard. The adjacent sailboat harbor is very calm and every morning (no matter how drizzly or cold!) people are out with paddle boards, kayaks or just swimming with wetsuits (it's chilly in late Dec!). A wonderful walking/biking trail starts at the end of the block (50ft away), and follows the waterfront for miles. We used it for an easy bike excursion into the La Playa business area for breakfast. What a beautiful ride!

We had zero problems with street parking right in front of our door. People fill the street with cars first thing in the morning to walk their dogs, play on the beach or swim/kayak, then leave in the afternoon. There's 2hr parking limit, though we had no issue leaving our car out all day. Ralphs market (Rosecrans & Nimitz Blvd) is the closest market (abt 1.5mi away) and has simply "everything", gourmet and otherwise. Pick up some of their many varieties of brats for grilling on the nice gas range on the patio! If you want cheaper groceries, there's a Vons superstore about 2.5 miles away down Rosecrans at Liberty Station.

Liberty Public Market shouldn't be missed for lots of interesting food, arts & crafts. We also greatly enjoyed Pomodoro Ristorante Italiano (is indeed the best Italian in Point Loma!) and the Fig Tree Café at Liberty Station which has amazing stuffed French toast for breakfast.

All in all, it was a wonderful place to stay, with gracious hosts and SO convenient to everything! We definitely are looking forward to coming back again!

Beach Front Paradise

The house and property were everything we could have hoped for. Clean and spacious for 2 people and all the amenities needed for your stay. Walk to town, the 2 patios (one for a little privacy and the other ending on the beach). We had a surprise visit on a Friday afternoon from Drew Brees and 5 of the New Orleans Saints that did an hour workout literally 15 feet from us while having our morning coffee. Karen and John are gracious host who live next door but give you your privacy unless you want to engage them (which you should) because they can tell you everything you need to know about the area and some history also. We were on vacation visiting friends and hope to stay again if our plans take us back there.

Owner's Response: This was quite a treat for us as well seeing the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees work out on our beach. The privacy of our location opens doors for many opportunities here. Watching the cruise ships come in and out of port and seeing the local seafaring and military vessels coming in are beautiful sights to behold and very common.
