Our cabin is a charming retreat in a native woodland setting. It's in the heart of Deep Creek Lake, offering recreational activities year round. Wisp Ski Resort is 2.3 miles and the lake is a short stroll away. Stay at our cozy hideaway under the stars. In winter you'll find a snow filled wonderland as you relax by the crackling fire. Spring, summer or fall take a swim, explore nature or go boating. Walk to the nearby cafe or stay and have cappuccino on the deck. Take a day trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Our cabin is an accommodating, truly hip, cozy getaway for families and singles. It's the place for a wonderful healthy break at an affordable price.
We will continue to make changes to the property in keeping with a greener world. We would appreciate your insights in creating a 'greener' cabin as well. Here's to a healthy body, mind, planet and lifestyle. We look forward to sharing our cabin retreat with you.
Eco Friendly Living: It's our goal to have the cabin completely renewable(green)and self sufficient, as soon as technology and financing allows(keep renting and we will get there sooner!) Currently we have used eco-paints that do not emit harmful gases. We've furnished the cabin using Craig's list which means most everything is recycled at least one generation. We use renewable products and recycle whenever possible. Water is renewably drawn from our well and heat is enhanced by the fireplace.
This was our first time to the Deep Creek area and we fell in love. We are a military family with a young toddler- Our trip to Deep Creek served as a time to reconnect as a family after a long deployment. From the minute we arrived at the cabin, our three year old was in a state of excitement with the wild life, the cabin, the bunk beds and activities available nearby. From watching the chipmunks scurry around, roasting marshmallows and even seeing a young bear close by- our son was completely entertained. The cabin is rustic, comfortable and charming. The owners have done a really nice job of decorating it, as well as making sure there are ample appliances for cooking and even herbs, oils, pancake mix- the little things one might forget to bring. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return!
We enjoyed a long weekend here for our anniversary and feel that a few things should be clarified for future renters:
1) Parking (and entry) is at the lower level, not at the upper deck level. Wrong assumption on our part, we didn't notice the huge rock by the deck which should have tipped us off! Based a glance at the photos, we thought entry was through what appeared to be the “front” door.
2) Property is only suitable for those fit enough to handle steep steps between the two levels. It is not appropriate for the elderly or small children. Not an issue for most people, just an FYI.
3) The TV/living room is on the lower level, as well as one bedroom (with bunk beds) and the second bathroom. The upper living room has the fireplace.
4) The back deck is very nice – the backyard is quite scenic with rocks and ferns - lovely. There is not a traditional “grass” yard.
5) There is no lake access from the property, you will need to drive. Again, just an FYI.
We were looking for an affordable weekend getaway to celebrate my daughter's 6th birthday and we found it in Sean's cabin! It was so cozy, comfortable, convenient, and had all the comforts of home! We especially enjoyed the scenery and the hot tub. Also we found the beds to be very comfy! Would definitely love to return in the near future!
This is a fantastic cabin getaway. Our family went there the day after Christmas for 5 nights and just loved the place! It is loaded with everything you need. Just when we thought we might need to go get something, just a peek in one of the many cupboards and pantries and we found everything. Even spices, sugar, and other things (might consider dating them though). The little hot tub also a great addition. You can't go wrong by renting this and we would go back to Sean Surla first before checking anywhere else when we go back to Deepcreek. The Kirks
This was actually my second stay here at the Cozy Cabin in the woods and sure there will be more to come! The cabin is clean quaint cozy and perfect for a family trip. The hot tube is clean and worked perfectly while looking up at the stars. The wood burning fireplace inside the house really warms the place up and brings everyone together. I couldn't have planned a better winter cabin getaway not to mention the price was very reasonable :)
We had a great Labor Day weekend in this cute and cozy cabin!! There were four adults and it was perfect for us. Very clean and working with Sean throughout the process was super easy. The cabin is centrally located and not far off the beaten path. We would love to come back in the winter and enjoy the beautiful fireplace in the living room.
The landscape is a native hemlock and pine forest with moss strewn boulders and ferns. At nearby Swallow Falls, a 12 minute drive, you can see spectacular waterfalls and Maryland's last stand of old growth hemlock forest with 300 year old trees.
