With Tennessee to the North and West and Georgia to the South, Cherokee County, NC is the westernmost county in the State of North Carolina. Surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest, Murphy remains a popular Summer and Autumn vacation destination. Located at the intersection of four US Highways and three rivers, the county seat of Murphy continues to have all the charm of a small Southern town. Because a large amount of land within the area is part of the National Forest or held in trust by the US Government for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indian Nation, the unspoiled wildnerness surrounds you wherever you go. Murphy and the surrounding communities offer a wide variety of relaxing nature-oriented activities along with popular attractions for the whole family to enjoy and all within driving distances.

Get away from the heat in the summer and enjoy the outdoors. In the Summer, the temperature ranges from highs in the 80's to low's in the 60's. Go whitewater rafting or zip-lining on the Nantahala River or the Ocoee River. Take a day-trip and drive along the Cherholah Skyway at altitudes in excess of 5000 feet with numerous trail heads, picnic areas, and the beautiful Tellico Falls at the western end.

Tour a winery, go shopping for antiques, or enjoy Downtown Murphy with its quaint shops and terrific restaurants. Take a walk on the Riverwalk along the Hiwassee River. On the first Friday of every month from May to October, local artists and artisans display their works for sale along Valley River Avenue in Downtown Murphy. Weekends offer various flea markets and farmer's market. And, yes, we do have a golf course located in the Upper Peachtree area. You can also enjoy boating, fishing*, and swimming in local lakes.

Leaf changing season usually begins in mid-October with the peak occurring around the first week of November. Early autumn temperatures range from highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's with late Autumn temperatures ranging from highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Our average yearly snowfall is only between four and six inches, with the first snowfall usually occurring in late December.

Moose Hollow is also located about one-hour away from Helen, GA and Blue Ridge, GA. We are one and one-half hours away from the south entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

This lovely cabin provides all the comforts and conveniences of home with the beauty of being up in the mountains. Whether you are planning an active-fun filled vacation or just quiet relaxation time, everything you need is here in the wonderful mountains of North Carolina.

This cabin is located just east of Murphy off US Highway 19/74 East. Very Relaxing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

For our fifth trip to NC in 2016, we chose the Moose Hollow Cabin in Marble. It was a very nice, and extremely well decorated cabin. Everything was in good working order and the property is maintained very well.

In terms of getting to, it was easier than other places we have stayed so that was helpful.

The neighbor area dogs liked hanging out with us on the deck and were very well behaved. We had no issues with them and enjoyed having them greet us each time we arrived back at the cabin as well as escort us out when we left.

The owners have a plethora of amenities available to you during your stay and all is of excellent quality.

One thing we typically enjoy that was not available to us was a table outside on the deck to eat at however, that was the least of our worries.

We definitely will consider this property again in the future!

The cabin is located in a very secluded area which made our stay very comfortable, away from the everyday hectic lifestyle. The cabin had all the necessary supplies that we needed. Overall great place to stay.

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family very much enjoyed our stay at your cabin! Located on the mountain surrounded by trees and privacy was exactly what we wanted and what we got. The home was very clean and well decorated. The neighbors and dogs made us feel very welcome and were a huge help when our dog disappeared near the end of our trip. They were quick to form search parties and were able to help us by checking local Facebook pages where we found him. He had made it down to the main road where another neighbor picked him up and kept him safe while searching for us. Rick was great in his responses to all of our questions and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

The Perfect Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Moose Hollow was the perfect cabin for our New Years getaway. The location was perfect. The beds were so comfortable. The house was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. The front porch and the view was amazing. The fireplace was easy to operate with just a push of a button and warmed the cabin really quickly. We met the neighbors dog, white with brown spots and beautiful blue eyes, but didn't get his name, but he was so friendly. He would come visit my dog every afternoon and they would just run and play. Plus Kevin was a phone call away if we needed him and made sure our stay was exceptional. We had an absolutely amazing stay and wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this cabin. Oh, I saw other remarks about the drive up to the cabin. It was no problem at all for us. We were in a Hyundai Sonata.

Fantastic Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 (including 2 kids) loved our stay at Moose Hollow cabin! The cabin looks great in the pictures, but is even nicer in person. Super clean and comfortable with very nice decor. It is very evident that the owners use this as a personal vacation cabin because it is very well stocked and lovingly maintained. The kitchen has every cooking utensil you can think of and all of very nice quality. It truly feels like you are staying in a well appointed home.

We enjoyed the surrounding area and got to hike some nice trails. I recommend checking out Fire Creek Falls and North Shoal Falls. The woman at the Murphy Visitor center is very helpful with area information and maps. We also enjoyed eating and checking out the cute shops in Downtown Murphy and a nice walk around the river walk.

The neighbors have very sweet dogs whose company was enjoyed immensely by our children. We loved sitting out on the porch with our coffee in the morning! Beautiful and peaceful!

Kevin (the property manager) was very quick to answer any questions and was kind and helpful!

It is quite a trek up the road to the cabin, but even us Floridians managed just fine in our Kia Soul :) I strongly suggest planning your arrival during daylight hours though. For your first time up, it would be quite daunting in the dark!

Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends & family!
