Vermont has always been my favorite place to visit. I fell in love all over again with the changes of the season. My wife and I even got married by walking from our home to the end of Camp Kill Kare. This area is truly a treasure.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
For 3 generations our family has enjoyed spending the summer on St. Albans Bay. My wife and I, along with my sister and her husband, jumped at the chance to buy a home right across the street from our Nana and down the street from our Dad. Hathaway Point holds many fond memories of fishing, sailing, swimming, kick the can, and spending time with family.
Our house is just down the road from Kill Kare State Park. Amenities include: restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelter, parking, swimming, and nature trails. From Kill Kare you can catch a ride on the Burton Island Ferry to Burton Island, Woods Island, or Butler Island.
We had a great time. The owners were so accommodating and laid back that it made our time that much easier. They had everything that we could possibly need there. It is just such a peaceful and tranquil area and a great place to relax.
Warren and Annie were very gracious. They were quick to attend to every detail. Of course, we didn't ask for much .. but when we did ..they were there without
hesitation. The house was charming and comfortable. The lake is just a short distance from the spacious back yard. There is a small, two lane road separating the yard from the water. So we were thankful to have such kind and thoughtful hosts.
The place was great and Warren, the owner, was extremly helpful if we needed anything. Being right on the lake was great. My boys loved stripping rocks and playing on the beach. Def a place to revisit.
This wonderful home is far enough away from city-life to feel secluded but not far enough to be annoying. The center of downtown St. Albans is only a 15 minute drive and Burlington is a mere 35 minutes from door to door.
The owner of this home, Warren, was extremely accommodating and very personable. He greeted us when we arrived, gave us a brief tour, and explained that if we needed anything to reach out to him. He also provided us with a list of restaurants and bars in the area, as well as the ever important Wi-Fi password. This location is equipped with a Wii, a PlayStation 3, and a Flat Screen TV, which uses the Wi-Fi to sign into several applications so when you are warming up by the gas fireplace you will be entertained.
This rental truly felt like a home and that is what we look for when we rent from VRBO or AirBnB. Warren had no issues with us bringing our two dogs with us, which is a huge bonus, as it is hard to find pet-friendly spots on these sites. Having our furry children with us only added to the home-like feel that this house provided.
The views of Lake Champlain from the backyard were breathtaking, and even though it was extremely cold I found myself outside more than once taking that view in. Plus, if you are from an area near a city, like I am, the stars will blow your mind.
As I stated it was extremely cold when we rented this home, like -40 degrees at night cold, and unfortunately the water pipes froze on the second night of our stay. You may think this is where this review goes bad, but on the contrary I only mention this issue as a testament to Warren's helpfulness. Prior to us waking up, Warren realized the problem, as they reside on the property as well, and already began to work out a plan to accommodate us. Warren called us to alert us of the issue, brought several gallons of water, and offered numerous options to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We could see that Warren honestly felt bad about the situation and together we worked out a amicable solution. Please note that it was colder in Vermont the weekend we stayed than it was in Antarctica, literally we looked it up, and the water issue should never happen again. I only bring it up because Warren was great in dealing with the problem.
I would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the Lake Champlain area and we are thinking about returning ourselves.
We had a wonderful stay at Warren and Annie's house. They are very welcoming and make sure we had everything we need. The place is very well located with a spectacular view on the lake. Especially in the morning with the sunrise. The house is very comfortable and very spacious. A little bit old, but very charming !! :) It's for sure a place we would like to revisite !!
Thanks Warren and Annie !!

We came in at night just before Thanksgiving and were impressed with the rustic and comfortable nature of the cottage--just as pictured. However, when we went downstairs the next morning, we were stunned to see that we had 180-degree view of Lake Champlain through a set of perfectly cleaned windows. We never grew tired of looking at that incredible expanse of water with the mountains just beyond and caught several gorgeous sunsets sitting at the dining room table with our mouths hanging open. This is a charming, charming place, rivaled only by the kindness and attention of the owners. We asked Warren for some destinations since it was our first time in Vermont and we were there just to see the area. Warren provided two day trips and we added a hike and many hours in Burlington for a truly memorable visit. One last blessing--more beautiful scenery within a short walk down the road to the state park where the water views are immense. Truly an incredible journey!
