Depends on your Point of View, whether this is the beach house for you - located in St. Teresa Beach which is about 15 miles from Ochlockonee Bay, Carrabelle or Sopchoppy with nothing around for miles. Nestled under the pines with lots of shade, this home has a large wraparound screened porch with a meandering path to the 100' white sandy beach. Located on the Gulf of Mexico with protected waters - Alligator Point is just to the south - great area for the little ones and for fishing and floundering. The 3BR/2BA home has lots of room for the whole family with a bunk room on the lower level with two twins and a full bed. Step just outside the living area onto the porch for the main bath. Just around the corner, still inside the screened porch, you will find the steps leading upstairs to two more bedrooms (one with full and two twins; the other with two twins) and a half bath. Families with younger children enjoy this setting. Surf fishing or kayaking is very popular in this area. We are specially known for the Trout and Red Fish in this area. Lots of activities going on all around but off the beaten path for privacy. Come let us show you how wonderful our beaches are, without all the crowds. We now have internet.
We really enjoyed our week in this "old Florida" house. We loved the privacy, wonderful view, yard with pine & palm trees, wraparound porch, the hammock ~ most everything about it. It's close to lots of nature areas to explore. It's not a tourist area so don't expect restaurants, shopping, entertainment, etc nearby. If you're looking for a peaceful cozy getaway this is it. We've already booked our next stay!
Save your money! This place could be wonderful if it was updated. I knew it was old and thought it would have a rustic charm. Instead it is just unclean and needs updating. The furniture is dirty looking and old. The linens look like they have been used since the 50s and are stained and thin. The mattresses are stained and even have holes in places. The bathroom upstairs only has a toilet and sink and what looks like mold growing near the air vent. The downstairs bathroom is not even air conditioned. It has a cheap stand up shower that is too small and a toilette that barely flushes. There are two outdoor showers and one is enclosed in moldy brick. There is junk lying in the yard and when you first pull up there is a building that is falling down with a old toilette sticking out of it. The driveway and yard needed attention. The only nice part was the beach. We were a group of ladies and children. You cannot even secure the place at night. Screen door with a lock is not going to stop someone. We tried contacting the rental company but have had no response except they brought us clean old linens. This listing needs to be removed.
My family and I just returned from this house and we enjoyed every minute. The pictures do not do it justice. The house is nestled way back in the woods among palm trees and pines. The wonderful wrap around porch projects a perfect view to crystal clear water and a white sand beach. There was more than enough room inside the house and it was clean, cozy, and comfortable. Our stay definitely exceeded our expectations. If you want to "get away" from the hustle of the city and typical tourist beach towns, this is the place for you. We cannot wait to book our stay for next year!
Great house for the price! kinda old fashioned but in a good way. Bed was comfy to me. House stayed cool. Had plenty of room, stayed with 8 others. The beach was so nice so private. The breeze feels so good on the porch. It was an awesome stay. Only negative was the water smells like rusty pipes. Other than that nice house! Has wifi but doesnt really work, but didnt bother me, I didnt need it. Would for sure rent again! Would have loved to stay longer.
My family and I loved the house so much. Plenty of room and extra bedding. Beautiful home and area. We can't wait to get back, hoping for vacation 2014! The privacy on the beach was awesome. None of us wanted to leave. We hope this will continue to be "our vacation home" for years to come. We feel in love with the property.
The dishwasher did not work, that is the worst I can say about this property!
We couldn't get the internet up and running. I'm sure had we called property managers they would have helped us through but we all were ok with that : )
The pictures do not do it justice. We really enjoyed the books left out. The kids loved the book on the sea creatures, it was helpful as we had never seen a horseshoe crab before! We adults enjoyed the book on the Forgotten Coast! We just felt right at home.
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
My wife and I came here right when TS Debby was forecast to hit the state. It ended up cutting short our stay due to unforeseen issues but some of the reviews of this property are a little unfair. The road to the property is not paved but is improved. The area received 15 inches of rain the week we were here and I admit a below review had me worried about mud but there was no issue coming in or out even with the tropical storm. You have 300 feet that any car can traverse easy. The house is amazing. It has a wrap around porch that goes around 75% of the house. Bathroom in the house is upstairs with lots of beds Although we did not have power, I do believe the house has WIFI. The TV is a flatscreen so if you have a laptop, bring your HDMI and netflix subscription and you will be set. The house has lots of bedrooms. We picked the location due to it being on the beach and near many state parks and a national forest. WalMart is 10-15 miles away for food. A gas station is just 3-5 miles away for small items and it was well stocked. The beach is nice and clean. You can view the area by any online map so no waves due to the inlet should not surprise you as should not the lack of nearby restaurants or nightlife. This is not Miami. This house is perfect if you want to enjoy nature and need a centralized location to set up day trips to the various nearby attractions. There are houses nearby but lots of foliage hides them from view and I have a hard time imagining them all full of people at the same time which does suggest an empty beach. Bring some books and plan to cook out every night and you will love your stay. There is a charcoal and gas grill. 2 bathrooms inside. 3 showers, 2 outside so you don't bring sand in the house. The inside one is in a very large spacious bathroom downstairs.
Wakulla Springs State Park with daily tour boat rides.
