Quiet week by a private ecological lake

  • 4 of 5

We spent a lovely week in the Eastern Townships in July. The small lake was perfect for the dogs to swim and for us to practice with our new kayak and paddle board. The area was quiet and secluded and yet close to Magog, shopping and restaurants as required. The house was well equipped with cooking tools, dishes and glassware - as well as a state of the art stove. We spent many lovely hours reading on the deck, swimming or walking around the area with the dogs. The owner was accessible and welcoming - and we look forward to returning sometime in the future.

Lovely cabin on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during our first visit to the Eastern Townships last August. The cabin is bright, modern and well-equipped and we enjoyed a good deal of privacy mid-week on the clean, clear (albeit small) lake. The property is only a few minutes from town, but perfectly located away from the bustle to allow for a private escape for couples, families and friends.

The owner was organized, pleasant and accessible and the kitchen is stocked with all the tools and essentials you'll need to cook, BBQ and enjoy gourmet homemade meals. We hope to return again in the near future.

Beautiful stay

  • 5 of 5

We live in Montreal and we're looking forward to spending sometime nestled in nature and boy did we get it. The Cabin was perfect for our needs, and ideally located in a very private and wooded lot. We brought our bikes and enjoyed riding around, picking wild rasberries, swimming in the clear fresh waters, and making fires outdoors. The trees and birds were beautiful the house was extremely comfortable. We felt totally relaxed by the time we left and hope to return.

Family and friends could chill out together

  • 5 of 5

We booked the Lounge Cabin as a place we could vacation with 3 generations and the family dog. Here we got what we wanted. Quiet small lake, warm water, and forest is all we wanted with a beautiful modern interior to keep us warm and dry. The town of Magog was close enough for convenience and entertainment. We brought our own watercraft and spent much time on the lake where both kids and adults enjoyed the water and each other's company.

Disasterous visit and unprepared/unsympathetic owner

  • 1 of 5

OK, let's keep this short. Arrived at the lounge Cabin Dec 21/13 for a relaxing Christmas vacation. Anything but. Within hours of our arrival, there was a power outage throughout the area. We were without power for 4 days. The owner has no backup in case of a power outage. Without power, the cabin has none of the amenities that we paid for. No Heat, no Lights, and most importantly NO WATER at all. No water for toilets-imagine that! Imagine melting enough snow to flush each toilet only once per day. That chore alone took 5 hours per day. The owner was not at all helpful with our plight-did not offer to relocate us, deliver wood/water, nor return our money to us. We lived like this for 4 days, including Christmas day. The cold, exhaustion, and sickness finally forced us to find hotel rooms for 5 of us on Christmas Day. This was all an added expense to us, as was our purchase of dry wood, lighters, candles, lanterns. In short a miserable vacation, despite several discussions with the owner, we have not been reimbursed for the 4 days without power. In winter, you have got to be prepared for power outages. A generator is essential, especially if the toilets won't work without power. Future renters, be forewarned. We will not be back.

Owner's Response: "I am deeply sorry for an event which - in all honesty - was beyond our control. Nature is hard to beat. An ice storm of an intensity that was last experienced in 1998. It left 51,000 customers in Quebec without power, mainly in the Eastern Townships where the Lounge is. The region, one of the hardest hit parts of the province, even suspended all public transportation services. I offered to pay for the miscellaneous expenses incurred during this unfortunate event, including the Christmas dinner and the hotel once they were up running (even they were closed for a while) and tried do purchase a generator during the event but none to be found on short notice. I have refunded the party the four nights without power and now have procured a generator for the future. I remain extremely sorry for this group’s experience in face of nature’s onslaught"
