Treat yourself to time in a tranquil vacation retreat that has 300 feet of private ocean front with a dock out our back door. The home we call the 'Avalonia” is located on three private acres and only 2 miles to the entrance to Acadia National Park. The two bed room unit is on the second floor and is separate for the main house. The property is peaceful and charismatic, yet is close to all the attractions that make Mount Desert Island one of the most visited National Parks in the USA. This new contemporary house is located on a picturesque and protected deep water cove where mussel beds and crabs are waiting to provide your dinner.

Arthur purchased this apartment in 1999
We built Avalonia together and we enjoy sharing it.
Great fire pit on the shore Full AC
Property was better than expected we had an amazing week. Location was perfect. View is amazing. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Amenities indoor and out are ideal for a vacation property. This place has it all and well worth it for a truly relaxing vacation with wonderful and responsive helpful friendly hosts.
My husband and I just returned from a lovely fall trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we will be back sometime with our children. Great home, well maintained with beautiful landscaping. This is away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas but super close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor, a fantastic place to come home to every night. Kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable and owners were very friendly and easy to work with. My favorite part was sitting in the glider chair each morning, drinking my coffee while watching the lobster boats.
My family and I stayed here over the 4th of July holiday. It was a lovely well kept property with a dock, firepit, grill and deck chairs. They had kayaks for use as well although we didn't get a chance to use them. We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was a great location close to downtown Bar Harbor (10 min drive) and Acadia National Park. There was a private laundry facility as well. The owners were very accommodating and easy to work with.
We had a wonderful stay at Avalonia last week! The setting is absolutely beautiful. The kids had so much fun playing on the dock and the rocks, and my husband and I enjoyed coffee each morning on the balcony or near the water. We also had a lot of fun making a campfire and roasting marshmallows. It was so nice to see the kids enjoying nature and the outdoors.
The apartment is very well equipped, and had everything we needed for the week. The kids loved their room--so much so that they made their beds every day! The house is very conveniently located--close to Acadia and Bar Harbor, with easy access to the west side of MDI. Arthur was very easy to work with during the whole process. He stayed at the house during part of our visit, and we enjoyed chatting with him and hearing about how the house was built. Overall, Avalonia is a great spot to stay for a family vacation to Acadia. We plan on coming back again in a couple years!
This was our first stay at Avalonia. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the property. The view is amazing and the fire pit was perfect for SMORES at night! We were conveniently close to Bar Harbor and the National Park. The owner Arthur was very helpful and conscientious!! We explored Bar Harbor for shopping (ice cream, popcorn, souvenirs). We explored much of the park (horse drawn carriage, Cadillac Mt., Jordan Pond, Climbing rocky beaches, etc.). We took a private boat tour out of Southwest Harbor (saw seals)! We had burgers in Northeast Harbor!! And don't forget to drive over to Schoodic Point (beautiful and not crowded). What a great Vacation!!
This was our second stay at Avalonia and we just love it. The apartment is a great size and well equipped with everything you need, the backyard is like having your own little piece of Acadia - the waterfront views, amazing sunrises, firepit, and kayaking...we even got a few visits from a bald eagle! Arthur and Karen are wonderful - very responsive and kind. We will be back again next year!
No matter whether your interest is hiking, biking, kayaking, golfing, shopping or just plain relaxing on your patio just 75 feet to the water edge, the location of this house is ideally situated. We provide a gas grill next to the covered gazebo with table and chairs for a great picnic spot, plus an outside shower (with hot water) for a quick rinse after that cool swim in the salt water.
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, boating, wildlife viewing, rock climbing, mini golf

We don't use the HomeAway’s book it now feature. It may provide instant gratification (like ordering a book at Amazon) but the automatic messages are cold and impersonal. That does not reflect who we are. We like to be in communication with our guests so we can answer questions for them and at the same time our guests get to know us a little and therfore know what to expect in the home they will rent. Call us old fashion! More importantly using "Book it now" doesn't allow you to read the contract we require before you have to commit 50%. And without a contract neither you nor we are protected.
50% deposit to hold booking. Remaining 50% and cleaning to be paid 3 weeks prior to rent date. A separate check for the refundable deposit to be sent at same time.
