Overview

Hartwell Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrms w/queen beds, queen sleeper sofa, sleeps 6

The cottage duplex is located on a secluded acre + lake lot with a lighted, very gentle slope, cement walkway to the lake and dock through a wooded area. A winding driveway leads to the property. The driveway is the only road frontage which contributes to the seclusion and quietness of the property. There is plenty of parking for both vehicles and boat trailers.

The duplex is one of six homes on the short dead end street, four of which are vacation homes. Although secluded, the cottage is only three miles from the beginning of downtown Hartwell. It is only 1/2 of a mile to the public boat ramp and by water about ten minutes to the marina.

The 233 side of the duplex is occupied by the owners when in town.

Our vrbo guests do not share the dock with anyone.

About Diane

We are both registered nurses, parents to seven, six of which are in PA where we are originally from. We love to visit with our guests if they wish to and if we are at the lake. Roy loves woodworking, and building houses or additions. Diane loves to make jewelry, angels and paint/decorate Christmas balls and attend fairs where she sells these items. We love swimming, fishing, boating, gardening roses, playing games....etc. We have Shih Tzus who have their own private areas.

Diane purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Diane chose Georgia

We already had a home on Lake Hartwell, wanted a smaller home to retire to in the future which was more secluded and private, and wanted an income property.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the seclusion and that we are only three miles to town. One of our favorite things to do is to have breakfast on our screened in porch, sitting in our rocking chairs and watching the deer wander in the woods and on the walkway to the lake. We have lots of beautiful birds to feed and watch, too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We would have loved to have been here all week! :)

Your place is beautiful and perfect for a lake get-a-way!

Can't wait to come back and visit soon.

A relaxing, quiet, peaceful getaway.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from beautiful Lake Hartwell. We really enjoyed staying at this property for many reasons. The cottage was beautiful, well kept, and in a very quiet location. We were able to bring our dog Sassafras along which was an added bonus. The dock had plenty of room and the water was deep for swimming. The water temperature was perfect this time of year! The owners were pleasant and very attentive to our needs. This cottage is the perfect getaway. We feel relaxed and rejuvinated after our trip. Planning to go back next year! Thank you Diane and Roy.

My wife and I wanted a quiet, close getaway for during the week. We picked this place so we can bring our dog. We will be empty nesters very soon, so we're losing our pet sitter. It was easy to find and very relaxing. Our oldest son and his wife surprised us by showing up for the remaining days. The living room kitchen area is bigger than in the pictures, so lots of space to play games and watch T.V. The dock was beautiful and clean as well as the inside. We had a bonfire and played some cornhole, and enjoyed grilling a eating outside. We will be back again !!!!

This is a "Best kept secret"

Dianne and Roy, thank you so much for our wonderful vacation spot. The charming cottage was immaculate and the beds are so comfortable. We were looking for a private spot for our girls to enjoy the outdoors. We found just that! We recently lost a nephew, and with work and school schedules, we didn't have time to heal. Your vacation home brought many peaceful memories for our family and we are grateful for our wonderful stay. My Husband wants to book again for later this summer. I highly recommend this property for those looking for rest and relaxation.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the sweet cottage. We were able to bring our dog who loved to run around and watch all of the teenagers play in the lake. The cottage was absolutely spotless and we really appreciated that; sheets were clean, kitchen was clean, bathrooms were clean. The beds are really comfortable. The only complaint we had was not a very stocked kitchen for someone who really enjoys cooking for a lot of people. Overall, our experience was excellent and we hope to come back soon!

Owner's Response: Our kitchen is stocked with the following: 3 frying pans, 3 varying sizes of pots/lids, a roasting pan, muffin pan, cookie sheets, cooling racks, blender, 5-6 varying sizes of bowls for preparing large amounts of foods, plus serving bowls belonging to the set of dishes, many kitchen utensils (our guests tell us we must have every kind there is), measuring cups & spoons, utensils for the gas grill, etc. We have had guests in our VRBO for holidays and they asked, in advance, if we had certain size pots, which we gladly supplied, if we had them. That's the reason for the roasting pan: soups, turkeys, etc. There is a gas grill and fire pit. Our cottage is ideally equipped as a vacation place for 4-6 guests. The number of guests stated in the inquiry and booking, should be the number of guests that are actually coming to stay.

Great Lake Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time for 8 days in this vacation rental. The owners were great to work with and we had no issues at all. Everything was very clean and nicely furnished. Enjoyed many quiet evenings on their dock and even entertained family members as they came and visited. We will go back again next year.
