About the property

Four bedrooms, 3 full baths, will accommodate 8 comfortably. Mountains views

A hill top location with privacy and charm offers one of the best views in the Adirondacks. You can see from Giant mountain to the Southeast through the Great range all the way to the Northwest and still are only a mile from the village of Keene and 14 miles from Lake Placid. Deer, turkeys and partridge are daily visitors. Multiple varieties of maple, oak and birch all show their foliage for breathtaking fall colors. The sunsets are beautiful with a full exposure of the western sky over the mountain tops towards Lake Placid. The view is facilitated by a deck and walkway on the entire South and West sides of this log home. The large field stone chimney houses a Vermont castings stove for warmth and ambiance. Both the kitchen and the dining area are open to the great room with it's cathedral ceiling and large windows on 3 sides. The artwork and furniture are authentic Adirondack and created by local artists.

Beautiful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a week at Tom & Joy's property and had one of the best, most memorable vacations we've ever taken. The property was gorgeous, well-stocked and clean. Tom stopped by shortly after our arrival to introduce himself and make sure everything was as we expected. He was able to suggest some nearby hiking trails as well as point us in the direction of the best places for certain foods. One of the trails he suggested was on the property and ended up being the spot where my boyfriend and I got engaged! During the week we noticed a leak in the basement; Tom was at the house within an hour to check on it and clean up. All in all, this place lived up to the listing and the many other positive reviews which were previously left. If you are looking for a tranquil and awe-inspiring location for a break from the craziness of life, look no further!

Private, fabulous views, very comfortable and immaculate

  • 5 of 5

September 3 through 8, 2016.

I have been vacationing in the High Peaks region for 30 years on and off, winter or summer. I was satisfied or highly satisfied with almost all of my vacation rentals, but this was definitely the best. Aptly named Serenity, beautifully maintained and landscaped, the property is at the top of the road, right past the owner's residence. Tom greeted us warmly and let us know of his availability with any issues. assistance or advice he could offer. This truly feels like home, not like a rental; the love and care that show in every detail in the house and the property complement the incredible setting and views.

Peaceful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with friends and family at this beautiful home near Keene. The location was perfect for accessing high peaks. We also did some nice, short hikes nearby. The house was large, well equipped and very relaxing. Lots of seating for everyone both inside and out.

We had a great time

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time while staying at this home. We stayed for 4 nights while our son attended a Lacrosse tournament in Lake Placid. The location was a convenient, only a ~15 minute drive from Placid, with some amazing views along the way. The house was very clean and more than spacious enough for the 5 adults and 1 teenager we had with us. The kitchen, and the BBQ, were great for cooking and enabled us to save a significant amount of money vs eating out. For those that are not familiar with house rentals, this is one of the significant advantages of staying at a home rental vs a hotel. The views were amazing and there were plenty of activities to do at the house or within Keene. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay near Placid or in the Keene area.

Remarkable Mountain Views and Lovely Private Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

The setting of this vacation home is extraordinary. The views of the mountains and the private end of road locations are perfect. To my grandson's delight, we were visited by a friendly rabbit and a doe and fawn. The house was well-appointed, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The location of bedrooms gave everyone in our family group enough privacy so that we never felt crowded. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We would love to return next year.

Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

The house is gorgeous with its enormous stone fireplace. Everything is available for your cooking and dining need. The views of Owls Head and Cascade Mountain are tremendous. Wildlife abounds on the property with deer, turkey, and partridge (ruffed grouse) seen during our week's stay. Secluded yet just a stones throw away from restaurants and stores in Keene and Keene Valley. Would recommend this home to everyone looking for a nice secluded get away.

Car: necessary

The town of Keene is located in the famous High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park. There is great hiking and camping and uncrowded roads for sightseeing. Lake Champlain is to the East and Lake placid to the west. It is wonderful for curling up before a fire or for the most demanding of outdoor activities. There are many good restaurants and evening activities in Lake Placid and the surrounding area. In Summer and Fall warm days and cool nights are characteristic and the Fall foliage is no more spectacular anywhere in the Northeast. This area offers something for everyone.
