Lovely Stay at Summer Daze
What a great find in Nantucket! My husband and I were traveling with 2 other couples and needed a quaint house with a good location for our trip. Everything we needed was in that house, from cooking utensils- full sets of dishes and then some, BBQ tools, towels for the beach, SCRABBLE, and much much more. The house was sunny, clean and bright as soon as David and I walked in which was super pleasant. Nancy was so helpful throughout the process of deposits as well as whatever issues or questions we had about the house. BTW the pantry was stocked- all different spices, sugar, tea ect! Keurig coffee maker which was sensational in the mornings! You do need a car from this location although I am sure if you are familiar with the Island you can make your way over to the buses. We had a great time and we attribute that to a well maintained house!
A perfect island retreat for the family!
Located in a little slice of heaven, Summer Daze was the perfect retreat for our family for a long weekend reunion. The house comfortably fit 8 adults and a toddler, providing ample space for gathering in the living room and on the awesome outdoor deck, complete with a widow's walk - the perfect place to catch sunset as it dips down below the neighboring houses dotted throughout the forest. Well equipped with sand toys, beach towels and chairs and everything we needed in the kitchen, this sweet cottage was our home away from home for three great days. The location was great, really peaceful and quiet at night with great star gazing being out of town's fray. Close to Sconset, great shelling on the Bay in Pocomo and an easy drive into town. Nancy was so helpful and easy to communicate with. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful! We look forward to coming back!
We love our stays at Summer Daze
We have stayed at Summer Daze twice--once in September 2012 and again in July 2014. As you can deduce from our repeat stay, everything is as described in the listing. The house is clean, comfortable, with all the amenities one needs (coffee maker, grill, beach towels, beach chairs). The front yard and back deck are perfect for kids to run around and extended family dinners. The house is very convenient to Sconset, but it's also easy to get into town. We would DEFINITELY stay here again and would highly recommend the house to family and friends.
Perfect family vacation house
This was our introduction to Nantucket and it was wonderful! Nancy was there to greet us and explain where we could find beach chairs, boogie boards and beach toys for kids. I laugh that we packed beach towels as the house was fully stocked. In fact, the house has everything you could want - even a kitchen equipped with spices! The house is clearly lovingly maintained. The kids loved the outdoor shower and we all enjoyed the views from the widow's walk. Easy bike ride to Siasconset beach. We can't wait to return to Summer Daze.
I keep coming back to Summer Daze because I love this charming, CLEAN and lovely house. My September 14, 2014 stay at Summer Daze was my second of the summer. I stay one week in July with family, which includes small grandchildren and one week in September with friends. I have been doing so for the last 6 years. All of my visits have been absolutely delightful. The house is always fresh and clean and Nancy is so welcoming. I would recommend this house without reservations.
Family Vacation Ruined
We stayed at this home in July, 2014 and would NOT recommend renting this property to anyone.
The owner advertised a pet free home in the listing, which was important to us because of pet allergies. She then called us as we disembarked in Nantucket to inform us there was a flea problem because she broke her rule and allowed dogs in the home. We were misled about the condition of the rental. In addition to fleas/bugs, there was black dog hair stuck to sheets, furniture and in the refrigerator. We spent our vacation constantly killing bugs (fleas, spiders, flies, etc.) and sleeping in beds where they were visibly jumping around. I washed sheets and vacuumed filthy carpets all week long. This is not a clean rental.
To make matters worse, the owner handled the situation poorly. She changed her story about the fleas and stopped trying to help us find a more suitable rental for our family.
If you are looking for a clean, relaxing, hassle-free rental then this is NOT the place for you. Our family vacation was ruined. Avoid the headache and frustration and pick a different rental in the beautiful, serene community of Tom Nevers.
Yikes! I tried very hard to address this family's concerns upon their arrival and during their stay. In hindsight, I wish that I had been informed of their allergies. Because I have two Westies, I cannot advertize my house as pet free; "pets not permitted" means I don't welcome other pets. So, this was a misunderstanding, but I can see how this can be misinterpreted. I will clarify this restriction in the future. As for the insects, no one could find any. I arrived the morning after the tenant's evening arrival with my cleaning staff to respond to the tenant's discomfort. We cleaned thoroughly, again (the whole house had been cleaned before their arrival), but found none. Upon further complaints during the week, I called an exterminator who cited in his written report that he found nothing. I have been renting my home for 17 years and many of my tenants return yearly. I strive to offer my tenants a clean comfortable rental with ongoing maintenance and annual upgrades. I am truly chagrinned by this family's experience, but I hope you will read what other guests have had to say about their vacations here.
