|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Welcome to the serenity of Oak Beach. This charming and cozy two bedroom cottage is less than a minute's walk to the private beach area where you can walk for miles on the white sand. Make yourself at home in front of the fireplace, or relax on the deck with a cold beverage. This peaceful cottage whispers relaxation and is sure to be the vacation to recharge your batteries. An excellent meat market and small grocery are within walking distance, and tourist attractions abound in either direction with Caseville to the west and Port Austin to the east. Enjoy our local festivals and farmer's markets and that up north feeling without the big drive.
Pets: Please ask before bringing your dog or other pets. While we are pet lovers, we also know that some dogs can be a handful, and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will always allow dogs at our cottage. Our policy is a little gray at this point , and until we decide one way or the other, we encourage you to ask.
Activities: Oak Beach Cottage is close to many memory making activities. Miniature golf, canoeing, and nature trails are all within walking distance. M-25, the closest major roadway, offers an ample shoulder for biking to either Port Austin or Caseville. The cottage itself is equipped with board games, movies, and books for those rare rainy days when being outside is not an option.
My wife and I live near Frankenmuth, Michigan. I am retired but my wife still works. We love to travel and almost always stay at a homeaway property.
Dale and Joni Thompson purchased this cottage in 1965
Oak Beach Cottage was my home until my wife and I got married in 2002. When our lives got too busy that we weren't able to spend much time at the cottage ourselves, we decided to use it as a rental. We still care for it as though we live there and hope you find it to be a comfortable home base for your vacation stay.
This is our only rental, so we concentrate our efforts here to make sure you have everything you need.
Spent two nights at Oak Beach Cottage and found it to be very clean and well stocked with all the comforts of home. We spent our days on the white sandy beach and in the clear water just a hundred yards from the front door. It was everything we hoped for and more during our brief getaway. Will definitely stay again!
We've stayed during several years. Our kids have stayed part of the time. Cozy but not crowded. The cottage is well-stocked with easy access to one of the area's best beaches. Its garden's tomatoes, onions and basil graced our meals, and the hosts graciously found and returned a forgotten item. Entirely wonderful.
This property is exceptionally clean (even the windows were clean) and very comfortable. It's nicely decorated with a beachy theme and it's obvious that the owners take pride in the presentatin of the property. We had everything we needed to cook meals and to grill outside on the gas grill.
The back patio is especially nice as there is a very welcome shade tree that keeps one cool while sitting oudside enjoying a meal. THe yard is well maintained and large, which gave us plenty of room for playing with puppy. She loved being outdoords and having a place to romp.
The sandy beach is just around the corner and everyone is friendly and pleasant. And that wnderful meat market Dale told us about is within walking distance. They have a good selection of meats and other grocery items one might need at fairly reasonable prices.
The bedrooms and dining area all have ceiling fans to maintain a comfortable temperature. And the beds are very comfortable. I especially loved the sheets on the bed, as they were extremely soft and comfortable, with a nice quilt covering.
Although we had to cut our stay short, we certainly feel that the property is an exceptionally good value and that Dale and Joni maintain the property at a very high standard. You will love your stay should you decide to rent this welcoming cottage!
We fell in love with the place the moment we stepped in. It has such a make-you-feel-at-home style decoration that totally surpassed our expectation. It's also at a perfect location that takes less than 2 minutes to get to the beach. The owner is super friendly and confederative. Even though we didn't have the chance to meet him, he had everything we needed prepared for us. I'd definitely choose this place again should I ever return to Port Austin for another vacation.
The second I walked into this beautiful cottage I fell in love! I could stay there forever and live happily ever after. The cottage is adorable and so clean. Joni and Dale have thought of everything to make their quests feel welcome and at home. The weather didn't completely cooperate but the cottage was so perfect my sisters, dogs and I had a wonderful time and can't wait to book again. I'm torn between wanted to tell everyone about this awesome cottage and not wanting anyone else to know so it is available any time I want to book it! Thank you Joni and Dale!
Talk about bang for your buck! Oak Beach cottage is perfectly situated - beautiful mature trees in back, gorgeous deck and patio with Adirondack chairs perfect for morning coffee. The kitchen has everything AND Corian countertops/island as well. Keurig machine too! Ceiling fans in every room, airy vaulted ceilings, roomy bedrooms, and nice sized futon. My hubby, two teens, and I are having a very relaxing time, but there's plenty to do nearby if you want to pick up the pace. If you are familiar with the famous Turnip Rock of Port Austin, you will be pleasantly surprised to find the cottage's beach access has its own mini version. The beach has the best of what makes Lake Huron spectacular- shallow, sandy bottom and water almost as warm as the Carribean. We stayed a week here for the price of two nights on Mackinac. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
The cottage was perfect in every way! And clean, even by my high standards. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They even offered to let us stay another night at no charge due to inclement weather. We will definitely be here again.
