This private home on the coast of the Pacific Ocean (2 Minutes Directly Across from the Beach) is 2 stories, offering privacy between levels, spectacular ocean views, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, full kitchen downstairs with granite countertops and bar, kitchenette upstairs with granite countertop, refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, microwave and breakfast table, living room, custom swimming pool and full laundry room. Located on almost an acre, with a private driveway and surrounded by a lush rainforest with no neighboring homes close enough to disturb your privacy, you'll enjoy the spacious patio and 'botanical gardens' in peace and privacy. You'll thrill in the native trees and plants (pick your own bananas when in season) and wildlife that visit regularly, including toucans, macaws, parrots, colorful iguanas (harmless) and, occasionally, monkeys. A custom pool (December 2006) affords a luxury retreat from the day's activities.
Casa De Mariposas sits on almost an acre, has no contact with the street or public and is completely private and secure. We have a 24 hour Security/Manager who lives in a 'guest house' separate and down the hill from the main house and at the driveway entrance. This makes concern for the security of children a non issue as they 'roam' the patio and grounds.
Because Casa De Mariposas is isolated slightly off the coastal road with no other homes to see you, you feel you're in the middle of a rain forest completely isolated and very private yet the beach is just across the coastal road. You are ten minutes from the town of Jaco by walking along the beach or three minutes by vehicle.
The main house is completely protected by walls, terraces, artistic wrought iron fencing and gates. When you enter the front gate you are on a spacious patio that surrounds the front and sides of the house with separate patio tables, pool, glass blocked outdoor shower and plants and trees.
An added bonus as guests of Casa De Mariposas is the full use of The Club Del Mar across the street including their large pool and Spa. It is a private resort and can arrange all the activities you may want such as fishing, ATV's, zip lines, surfing (lessons, rentals etc.) etc. Their dining and lounge are 5 star and the staff will treat you like Kings and Queens as guests of Casa De Mariposas.
Casa De Mariposas has WiFi, Internet service and phone service to the USA. The entire house has 'state of the art' air conditioning and is completely furnished with all linens etc.

You can choose from the many adventures that await you, including the thrill of a canopy tour or zip line, ATV adventures into the rainforest with waterfalls, rivers and wildlife, world class fishing, beaches - including some of the best surfing available in the world, snorkeling, hiking, golf, horseback riding (beach or rainforest), motorcycle rental, and, of course, the best places to eat!
A must on your schedule is a visit to Quepos and the World Famous Manuel Antonio National Park, less than 45 minutes from Casa De Mariposas. You don't have to choose between the rainforest and the beach because the park offers both. Packed with the most unbelievable animals, birds and flora, you'll walk the well maintained trails and come face to face with several species of monkeys, sloths, iguanas, toucans, parrots, macaws and dozens of other animal life, all in their unrestricted and natural habitat. Walk to any of the four white sand beaches and explore the tide pools or relax on the beach when not enjoying the blue ocean waters (85 degrees).
Don't be surprised if a family of friendly squirrel monkeys with a baby or two come and visit while you lay on the beach! For the coffee lover, don't forget on the way back to stop at Cafe Milagro located on the front street as you enter Quepos for steaming hot fresh coffee beans made the old fashion way. (Beware! Once you have Cafe Milagro coffee you will be hooked for life.) We are happy to assist you in planning your itinerary and booking your adventures. Our goal is for you to create lasting memories of your visit to Costa Rica.
Thank you for visiting Casa De Mariposas!

My husband, Les, went with some buddies to Jaco Beach, and they fell in love with this property. I grew up in Florida, and I used to feel sorry for the people who saved up all year to spend their Christmas vacation in Florida and there would be a cold snap. I've been to the property during December and the ocean water is 85 degrees! You never have to worry when you book in Jaco Beach. It is so unique and gives you the complete experience of the rainforest and the ocean. The home has magnificent native wood features, port holes throughout, - it's just so charming.

It is so unique and gives you the complete experience of the rainforest and the ocean. The home has magnificent native wood features, port holes throughout, - it's just so charming. And the location is fantastic, just across from the beach and a short walk or drive into the town of Jaco, with all its fantastic restaurants, night life, grocery store and shops.
The views are spectacular, the location is the best, and the house is totally unique. What could be better?

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help. Had a great time at your house and I look forward to coming back!
This is a beautiful well maintained home nestled into the side of the mountain rain forest. Several species of birds including toucans, macaws, frigate birds etc would pay frequent visits.
The walk to the beach was very short. About 3 minutes.
Fernan and Derien were very responsive with everything we asked of them.
Highly recommended. We will be returning next year.

Where should i start this is the place to stay in Jaco with great views and a great location. This is my second time in Jaco and this was by far my best stay and best vacation, there is nothing better than to wake up to a great view outside the balcony as well as all types of birds chirping throughout the day. The location is perfect close to everything but at the same time away from it all for days that you want to relax by the pool and BBQ. This house has all the amenities you can ask for it felt like a second home. It was easy to book this house working with Les and his wife Shelly it was a pleasure. i will definitely be coming back and staying in Casa de mariposa. Les helped us set up a pick up and drop off from the airport with his guy Fernan. By the way Fernan is an awesome guy to work with and he will help you out with booking any and all kinds of activities. Can't wait to go back PURA VIDA!!!!!!!!
I only stayed here for two days and nights. I wish it was available longer. Two friends and I stayed here from Fort Lauderdale. The house was perfect. Its just 2 minutes from downtown, has a private beach, balcony/patio, great A/C and wonderful management. The house is in supreme condition. When we arrived, we were greeted by the managers of the house. We were given a quick tour/run through of the house and town. Any question we had was answered and we were given great advice. Woke up with the sun and went out to the balcony to see a gang of monkeys getting food from the trees outside before heading back into the rainforest. There's also a trail/old road that winds up into the forest where you can find colorful frogs, birds, monkeys, and amazing views overlooking the ocean. I couldn't be happier with my stay.
My husband and I recently returned home from a month long stay at Casa de Mariposa. Such a wonderful time! Although we have traveled to Costa Rica several times before, this was our first stay in Jaco. The house served our purposes almost perfectly as a starting point for lots of activities such as visiting a coffee plantation and volcano, excursions to the Mangrove and Tercoles River (Monkey and Croc viewing), ATV'ing and visiting friends in Quepos/Manuel Antonio. At the end of a busy day we loved floating in the pool, and Richard and Angie were on the property to help with any thing we needed. Best of all was Fernan, who served like a private concierge and was certainly someone we counted on to help us navigate by picking up and returning our friends to the airport, planning activities for us, and generally, being there to answer questions and help us familiarize ourselves with the Jaco area. When we had a friend suffering from what was diagnosed as heat stroke, Fernan was the person who came to our rescue. For Senior Citizens (yes, that would be us) he was a lifesaver of sorts and so helpful, hospitable and knowledgeable. We loved starting out our mornings on the balcony, rocking in our Costa Rican chairs and reading our Kindles, and having a washing machine and dryer on site was a welcome addition. And the wi-fi works fabulously. Finally, the folks at Club del Mar Resort across the street could not have been more accommodating and we spent quite a bit of time there at the bar, restaurant and spa. The owner, Phillip, graciously invited us to the SuperBowl Party and we enjoyed celebrating with the other U.S. Citizens. All in all, the only less than stellar thing is that the road below is noisy (we are "country folk") but we understand that this is being "worked on" with the police and other homeowners and Club del Mar. Slowing the truck traffic and posting no "Jake breaking" would help immensely, but this is a minor issue when compared to all of the wonderful plusses of Casa de Mariposa. No car needed here, folks. Between taxi service, buses and Fernan you will be set!
Our family trip to Costa Rica was the trip of a lifetime, in no small part due to staying at Casa de Mariposas and being looked after so competently and warmly by owner, Les, manager and tour guide, Fernan, and the onsite caretakers, Richard and Angie. The house was just as it was pictured: spacious, clean, fully equipped, and convenient to town, the beach, and the fabulous Club Del Mar across the road. I can say without hesitation that the wonderful Fernan really made a huge difference, from picking us up at the airport, giving advice about where to eat and explore, and, booking and driving us to most of our attractions, including ziplining, horseback riding on the beach, ATV adventure, waterfall rappelling, surf lessons, and Manuel Antonio Park. He also arranged for Chris to cook an in-house, seafood extravaganza. The seven of us had an incredible time, from start to finish. I highly recommend Casa de Mariposas. By far, it sure beats staying at a hotel or all-inclusive resort.
Wow, what can say about this incredible home? Clean and comfortable. Everything was great, Fernan the driver, the 2 young care takers who made us feel right at home and took care of any needs we had. The privacy, the spacious rooms and pool made our stay perfect as well. We enjoyed the parrots flying over us while refreshing ourselves in the beautiful pool. This house is only minutes from downtown Jaco where we enjoyed shopping and meeting the locals. We made friends with a very friendly taxi driver and called upon him anytime we needed a lift. The only way to travel while in Jaco. $4-$5 each way, including tip.
Places I would recommend to eat or drink, Morales House, The Taco Bar, Cocal and Casino Dining Area, & Restaurante El Recreo,. The Beatle Bar is an interesting place to have a drink. You can find a drink every 500 ft. So stay thirsty my friends.
FYI, avoid a place called Bar and OZ Hotel. Trust me on this. Being overcharged seems to be there passion. All the other bars and restaurants we visited enjoyed very much. You will run into more honest and friendly people than dishonest ones.
Casa De Mariposas is the place to stay if you love your privacy. The owner is one heck of a guy. So, what are you waiting for - book it now before someone else does. Because someone will. Enjoy your stay in Jaco my friends. WE SURE DID!
LARGA VIDA Y SER FELIZ (LIVE LONG AND BE HAPPY)

An added bonus is that our guests are also welcome to the facilities of the Club Del Mar Resort, an exclusive private resort directly across the coastal road from Casa De Mariposas. The Club offers a wonderful Lounge, fine dining, pool, and Spa where you can book a relaxing facial or massage.
