This one-of-a-kind cottage was lovingly designed and constructed by its owner, a master carpenter. Surrounded on both sides by mature trees and looking out towards a sheltered bay and the ocean beyond, this cottage is ideal for visitors looking for a relaxing oceanfront retreat.
Ross Roost is minutes drive from the famous rocks and lighthouse of Peggy's Cove, and a 20 minute drive to Tantallon where you will find all the amenities. Halifax is a 40 minute drive away. There are several beaches nearby, the closest being Paddy's Head, which is considered one of the best diving locations in Nova Scotia, only a short walk away.
Upstairs is the main living space, and its open plan incorporates a living room, kitchen and dining area. The vaulted ceiling, rustic wooden beams, and tasteful mixture of antiques and modern comfortable furniture create a perfect blend of old and new. Kick back on the L-shaped sofa and enjoy a movie on the large flat screen TV, or enjoy a summer evening on the balcony where you have a splendid birds-eye view of the Paddy’s Head lighthouse and the mouth of St. Margaret’s Bay.
The beautifully designed kitchen is completely handmade and well-conceived. It is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to cook up a feast (oven range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc.) and is separated from the dining area by an island. The antique dining table seats six. Or if you prefer, barbeque your meals and enjoy them on the balcony under an umbrella.
The large bathroom completes the upper level and has an oversized bathtub with air jets as well as a large separate walk-in shower.
In the open loft perched above the living space is the well-appointed master bedroom with king-sized bed. The second bedroom, also with a king sized bed, is on the ground floor.
Stroll down to the waterfront through the shared cottage gardens and take in the fresh ocean air. The private rocky shoreline boasts one of the most beautiful views in all of Nova Scotia.
This unique two acre property is home to two separate cottages: Ross Roost and Driftwood House; which share the gardens and waterfront. The property is well suited for groups of up to 8 people, or alternatively each cottage can be rented separately, while still enjoying plenty of privacy.
Please note that the garage is not available for use by guests.
My husband and I had such a great time in Nova Scotia! The cottage was exquisite, as beautiful (if not more!) than what the pictures showed and close to Peggy's Cove, where we used to get our morning "latté". It really felt like home away from home; the decoration, the fully equipped kitchen, the amazing bathroom, all was perfect. We definitely plan on going back in the coming years. We recommend this property in a heartbeat! Plus, the owner is extremely nice. :-) Don't miss Rhubarb restaurant, just a few minutes walk from the cottage, delicious food and a bakery in the back of the restaurant. One thing we loved (amongst many), was sitting on a rock on the beach and just enjoy watching the ocean. There is also a wooden beach for more comfort. ;-)
Other Activities: Sea kayaking
