About the property

Salmon River Cabin: 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

**Several May 2016 updates include new couch, leather chair/ottoman, rocking chair, beds, front porch and a large kitchen table that seats 8. Also, there is a new king bed in master bedroom and all the beds are very comfortable with memory foam.

The cabin is situated in a cluster 5-6 homes with permanent residents. To respect them, there is absolutely no partying and no noise after 10pm. We thank you in advance for abiding by these rules.

Salmon River Cabin has it all. Located at the end of the road and nestled along the Salmon River on 1.5 acres, there is something for everyone.

A wall of windows opens onto a huge deck for entertaining, which is also where you will find the very large hot tub that seats 8-10 along with an enclosed outdoor shower.

The yard is private and has room for everything you may want to do. There is room for your game of frisbee, wiffle ball, bocce ball, roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, or a short stroll down to our amazing swimming hole, which has its own beach and lawn chairs to sit and watch the river roll by. There is plenty of safe space for exploring or just being by yourself.

The house boasts a new kitchen with an open feel so the cook can stay connected to the guests. The living room looks out over the deck and yard and has a propane fireplace and stereo with iPod connection while the den/TV Room has a wood-burning stove. The first floor has an open floor plan with lost of space for people to gather, laugh and play games. There is also a laundry room and full bath on the first floor. The house has bocce ball and board games galore.

The bedrooms are all on the 2nd floor. The master bedroom (with attached bath) has a Queen and two Twins (not bunk beds). The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed. The 3rd bedroom has a queen and twin over full bunk bed.

Salmon River Cabin is the place to go when you want privacy, nature and seclusion, while still being easy to get to and close to everything you may wish for.

Why Chris Zervis chose Welches

We bought this cabin initially because my wife and I fell in love with the property. It is magical here. Its private with places to explore, swim and play. A creek that runs behind the yard that allows for fun and games, along with a forest to explore and the best swimming hole on the Salmon River. We redid the cabin to match the property--warm and open and a fun place to entertain. It really meets the needs of our family and our guests. We have made some amazing family memories and hope you do the same.

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxation, this place is quiet and yet close to all the activities you want on a get away. It is within walking distance to golfing and professional croquet, close to year round skiing, hiking and mountain biking. We have used this as a base for white water rafting or fishing expeditions as well.

Quiet and woodsy. Nice retreat from the city

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this cabin. Lots of room, a comfy bed, a nice hot tub, and very, very quiet nights. It was a peaceful time away from our hectic everyday lives.

Perfect for two families

  • 5 of 5

We had a relaxing time here. The house was perfect for our two families. Chris even had the fireplace on and ready for our arrival! After spending the day at the mountain, the hot tub was fantastic. The home had everything we needed. Chris was very easy to deal with. Prompt responses to our questions.

Beautiful property, great location, wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful inside and out! Cozy and comfortable after a long day of skiing. We had a few mishaps when we first arrived, the code for the key lock we were given was incorrect, along with the hot tub lock, but Chris was incredibly helpful and quick to respond when I called/emailed for assistance. We came with a small group of 4, but the cabin was large enough to sleep twice that comfortably. Would definitely come back for another stay, interested to see the property in the warmer months, as it looks like it has even more to offer when the snow is gone.

Thanks Chris!

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely weekend at Chris's cabin with my husband and a couple of our friends. Liked the remodeling that has been done to create 3 separate bedrooms. Used the gas fireplace and was astonished at how quickly it heated up the sitting room and also provided heat to the upstairs with no issue.

The location of the cabin was great for making a quick run up to the lakes for some last breath of summer fun. The location is also great for hitting some of the great hiking trails in the area.

This was our second visit to Chris's cabin and probably not our last!

Perfect Mt Hood Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay recently at the Salmon River Cabin. It has a rustic cabin feel with all the modern amenities needed. The furniture is comfortable with two separate living areas to relax and enjoy the views of the yard. The beds were amazing (my husband thinks we need a new bed now!), and kitchen was very well stocked with supplies to make meals. There was even a griddle to make pancakes and bacon for everyone!

We spent a lot of time outside...the yard is private and was perfect for our boys to play with their trucks/toys; we enjoyed using the fire pit for hot dogs/s'mores; and the hot tub and outdoor shower were a nice bonus. Keep your eyes peeled for deer-we saw 4 walk across the yard early one morning. Access to the river was a little tricky with our little ones, but definitely worth it to spend time playing in the river-beautiful scenery!

A grocery store is just up the road and several good restaurant options are nearby.

Chris was also fantastic-very responsive and helpful.

We've done VRBO in many locations and this is by far our favorite-we will be back!

Beautiful!! Wonderful setting with lots to do.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here before. We love this place. This time I went with some friends to celebrate my 70th birthday, and we all had a fabulous time. The weather was nice, so we were able to walk down to the river for some time in the water, and then later use the fire pit in the evening. We hung out on the wonderful deck overlooking the private backyard, and even had the birthday dinner outside on the deck. The kitchen is large and user friendly for inside dining as well. The beds are so comfortable, and recent remodeling has now provided a third bedroom for more privacy. We also used the pull out couch downstairs, which worked perfectly for our younger guests.

There were a few issues: we were given the wrong access code by VRBO, but a quick call to Chris resolved the issue. The barbecue wouldn't work, but the oven worked just fine. Communication with Chris regarding these issues was great. He even called me after we got home to make sure we enjoyed our time.

So, I really recommend this place. I will definitely stay here again.
