Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin was a joy to stay in. It was the perfect size for the 3 of us and 2 dogs. We did not see much wildlife outside, but the weather was perfect. We will be back.

Bravo Zulu for Sulu a cozy cabin!

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is simple, cute, and almost exactly as advertised. The location is fairly isolated and serene. Sure, you can see other cabins from the parking area, but once you're inside, it feels like you're alone on the mountain side.

The main reason I picked this cabin was for the wood fireplace and the fire pit and they really were the highlight of the trip! Super fast WIFI, great hot tub. Close enough to Helen restaurants and shops, far enough from the crowd.

The only complain... two nights no long enough to enjoy it fully! Planing on staying a full week next time.

Ps. We arrived late at night and had no problems finding the cabin following Kate detailed directions

Overall enjoyable

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay in this area, and the cabin was great place for us to reconvene, barbque, and have family time. State parks, tubing nearby. Hot tub was great, kitchen adequate for our needs. Great for family. Town of Helen convenient for supplies and a sense of community. Pretty color scheme inside the cabin of blues and greens. Other cabins are nearby, so it's a tiny bit more suburban in the woods than I expected. However, for the kids who were new to glamping, this was enough excitement and I assume the cost of convenience to Helen.

The following is not meant as a critique that detracted from our trip but hopefully constructive -- another comment mentioned spiders. There are probably a lot in this area, generally. I found the house fairly clean. That said, it would be helpful to wash the windows and provide screens, as I think the dirty windows make the cabin seem dirty despite its cleanliness. Only two windows had screens (sliding glass door didn't, nor did any of the bedrooms or bathroom). When I did open a window, there was a large spider web in it, and of course, no screen. Also, there were some droppings under the spare pillows in the downstairs closet. I left them there, as we did not need those pillows. I live in a rural area myself, and I get it that mice do come in (I am on the prowl constantly at my home). There was a dropping on the kitchen counter in the morning (which I had wiped the night before). Ps. I recommend the electric mouse trap baited on Amazon, baited with dry cat food, near the stove or fridge (mice in my house invariably duck under the stove). The droppings in the bedroom were larger -- and I'm guessing old. The bbq outside was not cleaned by the last user, unfortunately. Finally, we noted that we had two non-romantic adults and two kids. It would have been good to have an extra set of sheets for the third bed, which we needed. My friend drove up later and I asked her to bring an extra set. Thanks for your patience and these are quick fixes.

Nice cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

We booked this cabin when we decided to evacuate Florida due to Hurricane Irma. Kate was quick to respond, which was helpful because things booked fast. The cabin was great for what we needed. I brought two kids and two dogs with me. The kids loved the vcr and tapes, fun blast from the past! We also enjoyed the hot tub each night. Very convient to Helen and lots of nature trails.

Not what I played for or requested

My wife is allergic to mold and there was mold all over. Poison oak around the fire pit. The refrigerator wouldn't keep nothing cold. Tv half worked and on and on and on worse vacation ever

Owner's Response: Had you contacted us during your stay, we would have been happy to address any issues you may have had, instead of hearing about them now. Our contact information is provided in all of our emails, and is posted throughout the cabin. We are only a call or text away! As far as your comments are concerned, I immediately contacted my cleaning crew and had them look throughout the cabin for mold, but could not find any. The area around the cabin has just been weed eaten, and is mainly compressed leaves around the vicinity of the fire pit, so perhaps you encountered something in the surrounding woods while searching for firewood? We have also checked the TV for loose wires, and have not been able to determine what the issue was during your stay. The refrigerator is cooling the contents, and we have not had any complaints from the guests who stayed after your visit. Again, we would have been happy to send our handyman up to look at it during your stay. I am sorry that your stay at the cabin did not meet your expectations. The condition of the cabin after your departure did not meet my expectations either, so I would politely request that you choose another cabin for your next stay.
