Breathtaking views and beautiful cabin
The cabin and views are breathtaking. If you are driving in the winter months make sure you bring the north route in (the south is basically a two track and hard to handle). We also recommend a truck or vehicle with 4x4. The kitchen was properly stocked with utensils, plates, pots and pans. The last occupants left a lot of food in the cupboards and some clothes around but it wasn’t an inconvenience, more so an issue the housekeeping/property manager should have taken care better before our arrival. You get a LOT of house for your dollar. The hot tub was our favorite part! We will definitely be back.
Holiday Family Vacation
The cabin is in a great location if you want to be high in the mountains and well kept! We were able to see deer right from the kitchen window. During snowy days, the main road is cleaned up pretty quickly. Do be careful on foggy days, as you may not be able to see the main road while driving to the cabin. Our family was able to enjoy the mountain views, hot tub, fire pit and fire place. We will definitely consider staying here in the near future.
Great summer get away
We came from the hot low country into the cool air. The log house looks over the beautiful mountain tops. The couples with us enjoyed the hot tub. Saw a Buck out rear window and later in our stay a bear.
Beautiful location and lodging
The location was amazing, with plenty to do both outdoors on the property or indoors. Very hard to be bored with plenty of things to do in the cabin, like the pool table on the bottommost floor or the games in the loft. Clean and organized, with lots of comfort was provided, even for a large group.
The best place for vacation
The cabin is beautiful inside and outside. It has a cool fireplace and a really awson view of the mountain. Everything is super clean. It has a very good pool table. I play with it a lot. It has no broken furniture. The cabin has a lot of books and toys. It's the best place for vacation.
Our visit with Mama Bear
Ourstay at this cabin was wonderful. Sunsets are outstanding. We saw several forms of wildlife and we were close to our property on the same mountain. This property helped us make the decision to go ahead and build our home. We look forward to being neighbors in the future. The property was well maintained and the hot tub was very nice. You could look at the stars at night. There is some concern with the outdoor cameras that someone may be looking in. You might want to provide some assurance that that is not happening
A 30 minute drive from Mama Bear Cabin in any direction will take you to almost any place you want to go: Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski resorts for skiing, tubing, skating, sledding and snowboarding; Grandfather Mountain for hiking and the Mile High swinging bridge; Lake Watauga for boating and canoeing. The town of Banner Elk is also a 20 minute drive. If you drive another 15-20 you will arrive at Boone or Blowing Rock where there's plenty of shopping and dining options. Other outdoor activities nearby: biking, fishing, rafting and horseback riding. No matter what you do, there's always lots of mountain scenery to enjoy.
