Quiet, beautiful weekend!
We had a great long weekend in Hot Springs, and this house was a significant part of our fun!! The views were calming. The yard space was huge with the additional island space. Horseshoes, volleyball, fire pit, room to run and play, docs to fish, trees to strap up our ENO hammocks...all of it culminated in fun family time. The hosts were very friendly, as was Molly (their sweet Labrador), and attentive. We had an issue with the grill and they fixed it that same day so we could grill out that night. Only word of advice: if you plan to cook at the house, bring a few basics from your kitchen. The utensils were sparse (we had to run out for little things like a measuring cup and spatula, which we left for future renters) and the knifes were really dull. We made it work and that's not a deal breaker because every rental has a different level of kitchen supplies, but keep it in mind.
We spent a day in Hot Springs, a day hiking in Lake Catherine State Park (20 minutes away), and a day at the house because we loved the space so much.
Our group of 4 adults and 3 kids had a great weekend and I would definitely return if we come to the area again. Thanks for a fun weekend!!!
Terrible, Disgusting, Very Unhappy
The beds were disgusting. At
least 20+ years old. The bedding, pillows and carpet are covered in stains on top of stains. When we removed the sheets in the morning as requested by owners, there were several human hairs on VERY stained mattress pad. The pillows were covered in stains, no pillow covers, towels smelled like mildew, mouse droppings and other small trash on floors in corners. Stained ceiling tiles throughout. Home owners were above us. Could hear them walking around. We have never stayed in a VRBO, looked and booked most expensive property in area expecting a clean, comfortable experience. "Fantasy Island" should be re-named "Nightmare on Elm Street"... Really, really gross.
It truly hurt to read this last review. Its been said, you can make part of the people happy all the time, all the people happy part of the time, but you can't make all the people happy all the time, but we try. We have many repeat visitors. One family, and extended family spent the entire July 4th wk. , seven nights three yrs. in a row @ Fantasy Island. Please read all reviews. We have six five stars. two four stars. Please visit Fantasy Island, you;ll be glad you did. @ Fantasy Island, every night is Sat. night & every day is Thanksgiving.

The property was more than we bargained for! Great Amenities! The price is superb! We stayed there with two families! The house itself is pretty plain jane but there's no reason to be in the house when you have everything outside. The Island was alot of fun, the paddleboats were enjoyed everyday. The boat was great to get around the lake on as well! The tube wasn't great, but useable. The only downside was how dirty the floors in the house got, there were no cleaning supplies either, My Cotnam did bring down a vacuum for us to use, but it didn't work very well. The only other thing that didn't get it five stars was unfortunately the host's do stay upstairs, so you can hear their foot traffic in the mornings, and throughout the day, not great for little ones trying to sleep. We would definitely stay there again though if we get back that way!
Fantasy Island was everything we had hoped for!
We were in Hot Spring for a family reunion - myself, my husband, older son, preteen daughter and her friend. Fantasy Island was the perfect place to stay and was enjoyed by all! Beautiful property! We took advantage of the volleyball court, the paddle boats, the fire pit on the island and the boat for a day of tubing and fun on the lake. We had several family reunion activities that took us away from the house, but we could have spent the entire weekend right there and had a great time! Bob and his wife are wonderful hosts and they did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable. And they had great recommendations for places to go in town and good places to eat. We will absolutely be back again with many more friends in tow!
Excellent Location and Host
We rented this vacation spot over Memorial Day weekend and had a great time! There was plenty of space for the 12 of us who were meeting up from 3 different states. The host couldn't be more accommodating. He had a tent set up and ready around the campfire on the island upon arrival. He was incredibly easy to work with on arrival and departures. All of us thoroughly enjoyed using the paddle boats and canoe and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Inside the house was excellent as well. It was clean, well maintained. The location was the perfect. We had the quiet, serene lake house, but only 5-7 miles from city conveniences. My personal favorite was the ablility to camp out on the island. For those who wanted to stay indoors, there was plenty of space for that as well. We'll definitely keep this in mind if we ever need to stay in Hot Springs again.
