Silver Lake Waterfront ~ Private Sandy Beach & Spectacular Sunsets

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

5 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 12, Lake waterfront, WiFi Internet

Come and enjoy our cozy knotty pine home on exclusive Silver Lake in Madison. You'll love having your own private beach (sand toys provided), and the gradual decline of the lake bottom lets you walk out many feet into the clean clear water - no unexpected drop-offs here! There's an outdoor grill for your use, cook in the fully functional kitchen, or get takeout at any of the many close by restaurants. Dine on the deck and watch a sunset so beautiful it will bring tears to your eyes, or take a break from the lake and sit in the rear screen porch and enjoy the loon song at night. With all the activities the area has to offer - Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, Indian Mound Golf in Ossipee, shopping outlets in North Conway, Go-Carts and Mini-Golf all within a short drive, you'll only wish for a longer stay so you could do it all!

We provide a canoe, but there are also many places close by that rent kayaks, speed boats, and party boats. We are less than a mile away from the boat launch if you plan to bring your own. Our dock is typically in the water from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, but there is plenty of room on our beach for a boat or two if you're looking for spring or fall fishing when the dock is out. We'll point you to the best areas in the lake to catch bass or trout - but only if you ask.

Just check our availability calendar and seasonal rates about half way down on this page. We welcome guests during the summer season for full weeks only, but during the spring and fall we rent by the week or shorter stays on an 'as available' basis.

A Beautiful Peaceful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed at this gorgeous location on Silver Lake for the past four years. We love the peace & quiet & the rustic camp feel. Not a thing that we can find fault with. Always clean & tidy upon our arrival. The owners with whom we've had the pleasure of meeting on occasion, are wonderful & very helpful. This piece of heaven is only a short distance from shopping & restaurants in North Conway and vicinity. (Try Leavitts on the White Mountain Highway in Conway for fresh baked goods; it will not disappoint!) Again, nothing but good things to say here, with perhaps the only drawback being that the Silver Lake fish are very smart! Looking forward to our next stay....

Dirty Dirty Dirty

  • 1 of 5

My five sisters and I rented this "cozy" house for a week and our hearts sank when we opened the door and walked into the house. There was a layer of dust and grime that was present on every suface and object in the house! Then we saw the "stairs" leading up to the loft...No one wanted to risk injury walking up them as they're really not steps at all. The carpet was gross, the beds were miserable and the furniture ancient. DISGUSTING

Owner's Response: We're very disappointed to learn that you were unhappy with your stay at our home last summer. To be certain our guests have no surprises, we emphasize the fact that our stairs are very steep by specifically pointing this out to everyone who inquires about renting our home in our first email response to them, and including a link to our shutterfly website in that and all subsequent emails, where we have many additional pictures of our house, grounds, furnishings, and the stairs in particular. I was told over the course of the month in which I was communicating with your sister that all the information I gave her was being shared with the four of you to make the decision together about whether or not to move forward with the rental. I am further puzzled by your complaint that our home was dusty and grimy. My sister personally inspected the house within an hour of your arrival, and every room was neat and clean. If anything was accidentally missed, we would have greatly appreciated having had the opportunity to correct it for you. As you know because your party included a pet, we do allow pets while the majority of five bedroom waterfront homes do not. We’ve always tried to be as accommodating as possible to our guest families with children and pets, even if that meant a few stains to our fairly new carpets that we’ve found impossible to remove. Last year we tried using an over-carpet to make it look a little prettier, and while it was a great interim measure, unfortunately it had to be removed prior to your arrival. I’m sure next season our many new and returning guests will love our new hardwood flooring and area rugs. Our furniture is neither ancient nor totally new, but it’s comfortable, and in our mind, that’s what a vacation is all about – making our guests feel comfortable and at ease in our home. The only thing even close to ancient we have is an antique porch glider that we've been told children love. We do feel that our home is cozy, and we don't try to portray it in any other way. What we are offering people is a clean, comfortable home on a beautiful crystal clear lake with a private sandy beach, a lovely view of the mountains and a beautiful sunset almost every night. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your week there.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Silver Lake is a gem, and this house has one of the finest locations anywhere on the lake-- the shallow water and 180-degree mountain views are spectacular. The house is spacious and immaculate. Lovers of extra-soft mattresses take note-- the large bed upstairs is the perfect end to a long day of hiking!

Best Place for Kids

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a week with 5 adults and 5 small children. Family voted best place we've ever stayed. The house is very comfortable and the beach area is perfect for small children. There is plenty of space to play in shallow water, a lovely sanded area, and the water is very clean. And there was plenty of shade for the adults on duty to sit and watch the kids. Tons of sand and water toys available. As stated, stairs are very steep, but even our 3 3-year-olds managed well. Kitchen provided everything needed, many staples were available. Close enough to Conway for shopping and movies. Plenty of parking, quiet location, and unequaled sunsets. My only suggestion would be that if you have small children, and they are sleeping upstairs, invest in a $12 potty chair at Walmart. Saves navigating the stairs in the middle of the night. Loved the fact that they provided the linens and towels. This place truly had everything we were looking for, and we had a great week.

Silver Lake Stay

  • 5 of 5

This property was very comfortable and we could not have asked for much more. (Perhaps a few dumber fish!) The description was very accurate-clean, peaceful, and the pics really did not show the true spaciousness of the property. The owners are great people as we had the pleasure of meeting them. Now if only they would be willing to adopt us so we could spend even more time at one of the finest lakes in New Hampshire. Looking forward to next year...

A Vacation to Remember

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 12 (plus our two faithful dogs) had the vacation of a lifetime at this wonderful getaway on Silver Lake in Madison, NH. From the moment we arrived, we fell madly in love with the home and the lake. Our search began in February and Ann, the owner, was a joy to work with from the very beginning. I cannot say enough about how patient she was answering each of my numerous emails, which helped us enormously in our decision. We rented this home sight unseen, which is always a gamble, but her description and the pictures are exactly what we found there. No disappointment! The great part about this home is that all we needed to bring with us were some clothes and food, and suntan lotion. The place had everything we needed, from floats and sand toys for the children, to beach chairs, umbrellas, a canoe, and a fully stocked kitchen for us to cook our meals. They even had a grill large enough to cook for our crew of 12. Having two living rooms made it nice, while the children played video games in one, the adults could sit and visit in the other. We loved eating our dinners in the screened porch area, then relaxing on the deck and watching the most spectacular sunsets any of us had ever seen. We never knew there were so many colors in one sunset until our vacation at Silver Lake. Although there is much to do in the area, our days and evenings were spent enjoying the private beach or fishing from the dock because the children were having so much fun they never wanted to leave! We brought along our kayaks and enjoyed early morning trips on the lake to watch the sunrise (with the loons as our water guides) and filled our afternoons exploring the lake and its points of interest. This lake is quiet, peaceful, and crystal clear. In fact, during the week, there were very few, if any, motor boats, which was a nice surprise. With five bedrooms, there was plenty of sleeping space for everyone, although I caution that the stairs to the upstair rooms are steep and narrow and not recommended for very young children or the elderly. They would be better off in the two large downstairs bedrooms. Overall, we made memories that will last a lifetime and came home relaxed and refreshed. Our family is hoping to make this our annual vacation spot. We are so glad we found this home and beautiful lake and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to make some memories of their own.

Silver Lake is a section of the town of Madison, New Hampshire. The Lake is about 2 by 3 miles and noted as one of the cleanest lakes in the area. There's a boat launch a half mile from the house. In addition to swimming, sailing, boating, and fishing (the lake is stocked with trout, small and large mouth bass, land locked salmon and more), there are historic sites and hiking trails in the immediate area. A short ride away are movie theaters, museums, 18 hole golf courses, miniature golf courses, historic sites, amusement parks, local festivals, antique shops, outlet shopping and many restaurants. The closest concert venue for major name acts is the Meadowbrook Pavilion (40 miles). The view of Mount Chocurua and the Sandwich Mountain range is breathtaking and sunset is spectacular. For day trips, there are Lost River, The Flume, hikes along the Kancamangus Highway, the alpine and waterslides at Attitash, StoryLand, and Santa's Village. Logan Airport in Boston, MA is about 120 mi.

Additional information about rental rates

Pet Fee $140 + Tax
Refundable damage deposit $500
Cleaning $200 + Tax

Please contact us to verify rates because the Homeaway rate calculator is not always accurate, especially for weekend stays or pet fees. For example, for a 3 night stay that includes a weekend, we don't have the higher weekend night charge that a 2 night stay incurs.

We rent weekends during Spring and Fall only, usually with more flexible check-in and check-out times.

We accept well behaved, friendly, housebroken dogs who are vaccinated and current on flea treatments. The pet fee is $140 per week for the first dog, and $100 for the 2nd dog per week, or $20 and $10 per dog per night stay. For more than 2 dogs, please contact us. The pet fee helps offset our additional interior and exterior cleaning and maintenance costs, and is not for the care of your dog(s). Alternatively, there are overnight boarding kennels a close distance from our home if you would prefer to have your pets close by and cared for during your stay.

Please contact us for more information. We prefer to communicate directly with prospective guests, and try to do as little as possible through Homeaway, especially now that they require our guests to pay HOMEAWAY an additional fee. We apologize for that fee, but please know it doesn't go into OUR pockets.

WE DON'T USE ANY OF THE HOMEAWAY ADVANCED FEATURES other than the availability calendar.
We continue to use paper contracts, checks for payment, and an extensive welcome letter giving you directions and telling you everything you would want to know about our home and the area, just as we have since we began renting in 2010.

We have enabled online booking as it was a requirement for us to maintain our Ad here, but please don't be insulted when we decline your request to book if you haven't contacted us first. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT A RESERVATION WITHOUT COMMUNICATING WITH YOU FIRST. Please click on "Send a Message" to email or speak with us.
