Moosehead Lake as it used to be: The northern reaches of Moosehead are still peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. Tomhegan Cove is located in the northwest corner of the lake, above Mt. Kineo. Accessed over well maintained dirt roads, the hustle and bustle of the southern part of the lake around Greenville is over 20 miles away...by water. You can enjoy solitude, loon songs, eagles, and luxurious comfort just a few feet from the shoreline.
Canoes and kayaks are available for rental, paddle the shoreline or explore a tributary. You may find the cell phone coverage spotty but there is a landline phone available. You will need a calling card to make long distance calls.Pets will be considered. Please call Driftwood Cabins @ 207-534-7376

MooseHead Lake Fall Paradise
Fall at Moosehead Lake in Rockwood Cabins !!!! Wow !!!! Although I really wouldn't call this a cabin, more like a Grand Lodge but still with the charm of a home. It was just the 2 of us but we could have brought the kids and grandkids and had plenty of space for everyone! The big bedrooms upstairs all with their own bathroom reminded me of being at "grandma and pa's with room for all the cousins at the same time. The view of the lake from the house is spectacular , woke up to see the sunrise across the lake from the bedroom. We enjoyed our morning visits with the local ducks that met us at the fire pit to start the day. We took a short drive to Jackman and then on to the Canadian border hopped onto the "old Canadian Rd " for a short time on the way back and we were glad we had a four wheel drive vehicle because it can be a little bit of a challenge at times but was nice to be off the beaten path. The foliage was amazing everywhere we looked and the sunset on the hills beyond the lake lingered into the evening until we finished loading the wood into the fire pit where we spent the rest of the evening grilling hamburgers and listening to the loons and the water lapping at the edge of the yard.We brought most of our own food for the trip but did stop at "Aunty M's " in Greenville for breakfast . The food is great and breakfast is all day! We got to watch the steamboat take off on its cruise of the lake as we left town. Thank you for sharing your incredible property and fall with us.
The house was better than advertised. Very clean, large home with everything you need to have a relaxing getaway.
Amazing! Couldn't have found a more better beautiful and relaxing place to spend some time
Our happy place!!!
This is me and my husband's happy place. We went up to Maine for our honeymoon in 2014 then decided to take the kids back in 2015. They had an amazing time being kids! No cellphones or video games needed. It's of the beaten path but it FORCES you to relax. Best vacation I've ever had. Can't wait to go back next year. We stayed in cabin 2 plenty big, very clean, and alot of things they already have there not like other cabins. So to answer you question quit looking? It doesn't get much better than this!!
