About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + 7 beds, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 14)

This amazing log home has a ridge top location on Mt. Spokane offering 360 degree views, with Mt. Spokane rising in pristine beauty behind and the lights of the City of Spokane below. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets are part of the rural setting along with an unpolluted night sky of bright stars. This home is NOT available for weddings. The home offers 2,520+ sq feet of space able to sleep up to 14. Feel welcomed by the double front doors, curved staircase in the entry and wall of windows overlooking Peone Prairie and lights of the city in the great room. Hand-crafted rustic logs juxtapose with cream colored stucco walls giving the home an airy feel. The bar for your VRBO home will be appreciatively raised by: radiant heating; wood burning fireplace; large mission style dining room table; dining room window seat; spacious bedrooms including a romantic master suite; 2-1/2 baths; master bath containing a large Jacuzzi, double sinks and double shower; loft hideaway for the kids; spacious well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar; balcony office with reading area; laundry room; and 2000 square feet of deck/covered porch. To round out this ranch’s amenities, access is only a little over a mile to Mt. Spokane Parkway, a drive-under portico is there for weather free access, and log seating around a campfire is in the side yard.

We are on site caretakers, residing in the self-contained daylight basement unit, taking care of our friendly outside dogs, horses and any needs of renters. Soundproofing has been placed between the units.

This well equipped hideaway has an easy atmosphere making it, without question, a great place to stay for family groups or a couple's get away.

About Holly Easterwood

We are a christian couple who built this 4200 sq ft log home in 1999 when we still had children at home. Now we are grandparents and, like many of our generation, have a number of interests, including horseback riding, motorcycling, and golfing, among others. Jay was in a motorcycle accident a number of years ago and has an above-the knee amputation. We now reside in the fully handicap accessible basement unit of our log home. We enjoy people and feel our home can give others the beauty we have appreciated for many years.

Holly Easterwood purchased this house in 1999

Why Holly Easterwood chose Washington

We love log homes and chose to build on this ridge top with a view of snow-peaked Mt. Spokane behind us and the north end of Spokane spread below. Our goal was to view sunsets and sunrises in a peaceful setting.

What makes this house unique

Our outdoor campfire, covered porch and deck eating and lounging areas accommodate a fairly large amount of people comfortably, and the beauty of the surroundings, with no neighbors in sight, make for a completely unique homesite. Watching the horses in their pastures and the many deer and other wild animals as they pass through the 35 acres makes for a very peaceful and contented circumstance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Upon arrival Claudia evinced surprise, and said she never thought that they would be able to stay in such a beautiful place. Raul made the comment that he enjoyed a good night's sleep, and that their bed was very comfortable. While speaking with us the morning they were leaving, we were standing on the deck looking out over the valley and both of them enthused about "the amazing views." When their local family member came to visit them, she stated that the home and setting is beautiful. She went on to say that we would have no problem staying full as it was "everything anybody would want in a vacation rental."

A Peaceful and Rejuvenating Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Mountain Ridge Log Home was everything I hoped it would be! Holly, the proprietor, was helpful and friendly. The Log home was warm and comfortable. The mountain top setting was fabulous! The Log home was spacious yet cozy - every room invites you to sit down and relax from the living room with the windows that look out across the valley, to the kitchen window seat big enough for two with a warm fleece throw thoughtfully included. I look forward to our next visit!

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Mountain Ridge Log Home and had a wonderful time. There were 3 families with 11 of us total and never once did we feel cramped or confined. The home is beautiful and has a cozy and relaxing feel to it which made for such a pleasant afternoons. We all agreed that we'd love to come back sometime in the summer. Holly and Jay were terrific hosts and a pleasure to meet. I HIGHLY recommend this property.

Beautiful and very accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 14 people from 12/20-12/29. First night we arrived after dark after a long drive from Seattle and flying in from Hawaii. We didn't make our Costco stop yet. Holly was so kind, she brought us biscuit and pancake mix, bacon, coffee and more so we didn't have to venture back out that night for dinner. Sooooo grateful for that! We enjoyed snow play right on property for many days and warm evenings around the fireplace. The house had enough space for everyone to be comfortable and not constantly in each other's space. Kitchen was well stocked for preparing meals for our large group. The views are absolutely amazing! I am so thankful we found this gem.

Amazingly beautiful, comfortable & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We (and our old dog) loved this home so much that we extended our stay by another week. The house is beautiful, cozy, felt like home right away, and was very well appointed. We live in the heart of city in Seattle, so being on such a private, quiet, green, beautiful ranch was a heavenly change. It snowed while we were there -- glorious! J & Holly kept the road sanded, so no problem getting up & down the mountain. We did some hiking on MT Spokane, had family & friends up for dinner, and I worked from the dining room table several days (WiFi was great for video conference calls) -- so much to do. Thx for the lovely hospitality -- we'll definitely be back!
