When we were looking for a vacation home in Playa Del Carmen the biggest consideration was to find the property that would make the best vacation rental and we believe we found this with the newly constructed El Faro luxury suites. El Faro is truly unique in that it has the best combination of everything people are looking for in a vacation rental. Being beach front is a great benefit and not only is it on the ocean but its central location in Playa is simply unmatched. Being located on the beach in the heart of Playa at the famous Lighthouse on 10th street is absolutely perfect. You may leave your car behind as you can walk to everything and transportation is excellent. El Faro is situated on a long stretch of the beach so it is like you are tucked away in an oasis right in the heart of all the action. The famous 5th avenue is so close that you probably won't even break a sweat on the short walk up there even on a hot day. But don't worry even if you do start to perspire the ocean is literally only a few steps away waiting to cool you off. Or if you can't make it past the hot sand to the beach you can stop and take a swim in the amazing pool. All joking aside the setting is quite spectacular and you simply won't find another property in Playa that has such a large pool and garden area that is so close to everything and is situated on such a large section of the beach.

The condo itself has one of the best locations in El Faro and has breathtaking unobstructed views of the ocean. There are direct ocean views from the master bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and large terrace. The condo is new and is tastefully decorated with a little Caribbean fun but overall it is fairly neutral and has a universal appeal. There is a full size kitchen that is completely equipped with everything that you would expect. Everything is new and high end with nice little touches down to the 300 thread count sheets, however, the condo still maintains a relaxed and comfortable feeling. You'll find all of the amenities to make you feel at home such as air conditioning, wireless internet, flat screen TV's or you can just sit outside on the terrace listening to the waves roll onto the shore and watch the people and boats go by as the quiet breeze whispers to you that this is nothing like home at all...

About Shawn

Hi, My name is Shawn and I am originally from California and went to school at the University of California San Diego where I first felt the mysterious draw to the ocean. I now live in Vail Colorado where I was drawn over fifteen years ago by an equal passion to the mountains and skiing. My real estate investments and skiing have kept me in Vail, however, I have never been able to shake the fondness for the ocean. Now with a place in Playa I am fortunate to be able to escape to the ocean once in awhile and live in the mountains that I enjoy the rest of the time.

Why Shawn chose Playa del Carmen

I chose Playa Del Carmen as it is easy to get to and yet still allows me to experience something so much different from my life in the mountains of Vail Colorado. A four hour flight from Denver allows me to put on a T-shirt and shorts and breath in the ocean and experience the good natured people and the character of Playa.

I can only use the condo myself once in awhile so I wanted to find the property that was the most appealing for a vacation rental. Although the property is new I think it will be the most popular property in all of Playa Del Carmen because it is so unique in that it is a high end property with a central beachfront location in the heart of Playa with a large pool area and right on the ocean. I haven't seen another oceanfront property that offers so many benefits in Playa so it was a natural choice.

What makes this condo unique

It is nice to be only steps from the famous 5th avenue to walk to all of the great shops and restaurants. We have found it more relaxing to have everything so close so you are not running around the whole time while on vacation. It is also ideal to be able to walk to Walmart to stock up on groceries and bring something back to the condo to BBQ out on the terrace. We recently put a washer and dryer in the condo so this has enabled us to travel with lighter suitcases.

Excellent Place to Stay!

Our family of 4 plus two friends of our teenage daughters (15 & 14) rented this condo for one week. Everything from my first communication with Shawn to our farewell was perfect. The condo is spacious and clean and has everything you need. With the convenience of the grocery store nearby we ate breakfast at the condo almost every morning. It was the perfect vacation - we relaxed on the beach just steps away from the condo, took a dip in the pool and then strolled down the avenue for fun. I would come back to Playa del Carmen and I would definitely rent this condo again. Thank you Shawn for the use of your beautiful condo, the recommendations for transportation, and a memory that will last a lifetime.

Great Location, Perfect Stay!

We rented this condo for one week, and with another couple. It was perfect for two couples, but would also work well for a family. The condo was nicely appointed, and it had amazing views of the ocean and pool outside. We made a lot of meals in our condo, and the kitchen was sufficiently stocked with supplies.

Walmart is just 5 blocks up the road, which makes it easy to get groceries and drinks. The best part about this condo is the location. You are literally one block from the best part of 5th Avenue. Also, the pool is amazing! We are beach people, but we really loved this pool. We swam in it every day.

I wouldn't change anything about this condo, and I hope to come back someday! Shawn is easy to work with, too. That makes everything easier.

We get a lot of people that stay at the condo that are a group of two couples which seems to work out well sharing the condo. We also have lots of families that stay too so the set up seems to give different people the flexibility they are looking for. Holly is right that the best thing is being right on the ocean and combining this with the location being so close to the 5th avenue and centrally located where a WalMart run to stock up on supplies is also easy. Perfect Stay at this amazing condo

Based on the reviews and pictures, i fully expected our stay at El Faro to be great, but our expectations were exceeded.

Location is perfect. Right on the beach and only a block away from 5th Ave. Even though we were so close to the craziness on 5th, as soon as we got back to El Faro, it seemed like 5th was a world away.

The building was well maintained, clean, and never seemed crowded at all. Was always able to get seats by the pool and the security team did a great job making sure you had what you need. (And keeping outsiders away)

Condo layout was great. Very spacious and had everything we needed. The water dispenser was a perfect tough. I wish other rentals had this.

Looking forward to staying here again on our next visit to Playa and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Great condo and location!

We just got back from our trip to PDC. This condo is 1 block away from 5th Ave. which is loaded with souvenir shops and restaurants. Starbucks and Hagen Dazs are only 1 block away too! There are so many restaurants to choose from and the walking street (closed to cars) is at least 1 1/2 to 2 miles. You will get your exercise! Anything you forgot to pack can be found here. You can also find salesmen selling tours everywhere so you can easily find things to do while in PDC.

The condo was wonderful and had all the things you could need. It is very spacious and room for our twin 15 year olds and 11 year old to spread out and relax. The view from the condo is even better than it looks in the owner's pictures! We spent a lot of mornings on the patio.

Cleaning service every other day was helpful with sand coming in from the beaches. The owner is very organized and on top of things. We had a small problem with a dirty bed and it was taken care of immediately. There is security on site and you are given a wristband for the property. The security won't let anyone coming off the beach to use pool and showers. The pool was never crowded and we were always able to find chairs at any time of the day.

We also enjoy being able to walk to so many shops with the 5th ave just a block away. The terrace is really a special spot and we really enjoy the ocean view and watching the beach activity from the comfort of the covered terrace. I’m glad they enjoyed the pool area so much too as it is pretty amazing having such a large pool and large green space right in town but you can feel miles away from reality. Thanks so much!

My family and I were fortunate to stay at Shawn's condo the last week of June. I can honestly state it was one of the best properties we have ever stayed at for our summer vacation. There wasn't a single thing thing that was "over-sold and under-delivered". The location is ideal, and the El Faro property is extremely clean and well-maintained.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this condo to my friends and family.

THIS CONDO IS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE IF YOU WANT TO BE NEXT TO THE BEACH, SWIMMING POOL, AND JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM THE 5TH AVE WALK WAY. I BROUGHT MY FAMILY WITH ME AND THEY ALL HAD A BLAST.

THE A.C. IS ICE COLD, HOT WATER, PLENTY OF DRINKING WATER. WIFI WORKED FOR US AND AND THE VONAGE PHONE WAS A CHARM TO CALL HOME AND VICE VERSA....(DID EXPERIENCE A TELMEX LOSS OF SIGNAL FOR A BIT)... OUR STAY WAS 1 WEEK...

Owner's Response: I am so glad Danny and his family had a Blast during their stay. Our guests really seem to like the location with the swimming pool overlooking the beach and ocean and just a block to the shops in town. I am glad they found the AC ice cold as I just replaced all AC units and try to maintain the condo for the comfort of our guests. We know the Wifi and phone is very important and I have installed an extender on the Wifi to help with the range. I also like to stay in touch with my guests so that they may contact the management company and myself before or during their stay. Thanks so much! Shawn
