Life changing experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at villa Barkel has made us rethink about the notion of resort vacation. The property is a dream come true and the service is out of this world. The manager was always available to answer our questions and concerns. The food was AMAZING! The staff on site was were very polite and always had a smile on their face which further solidifies our decision in returning as soon as possible. I would recommend this property to everyone with my eyes closed.

EXCELLENT Home, Views & Service

  • 5 of 5

This was my third visit to this villa and it gets better if anything; first two times with friends, this time with family only. The pictures speak for themselves regarding the place - unparalleled tranquility, peaceful state of mind, and private. The villa is ready for any crowd, its accommodating from all angles - spacious bedrooms, huge common areas. And I have no words to describe the staff and manager. I can feel the staff are not there to just work, they truly enjoy welcoming people, making them feel right at home and as special as possible. Nothing is impossible for them, they will accommodate or find whatever it is you need or want. I'm personally crazy with fruits, and the guy made it his personal task to bring me fruits every morning I was there at no extra cost and without me asking. Yocasti is an excellent property manager, she knows every corner of Samana, anything and everything you want to experience she has access to or at least knows someone. My first two visits were about exploring Samana, going to Cayo Levantao, El Salto del Limon, Las Terrenas, other beaches and Yocasti went out of her way to rsvp all these trips for us. The last trip was about relaxation and quality time with the family, and Yocasti and staff went above and beyond even bringing the massages we wanted to the villa. In all, Yocasti is extremely knowledge, both she and her staff are very professional and very much loving and humble people. I look forward to going back very soon already. Just feels like my personal second home in the country!

Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

This location is what people spend their lives dreaming of. The views are beyond words. The private beaches are better than Playa Rincon. We had more than enough space even though we had the max number of guests. It's so many spots in the house to relax, you're never on top of each other. We will definitely be going back.

With it being so remote the internet is not that reliable. So if you have important things to do that requires internet, keep that in mind.

Incredibly beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This property has everything except the food. You will never want to leave!! Talk about relaxing and completely disconnecting from the world. You are out in the middle of no where. The views are spectacular from any and every view of the house!! Like many other reviews, the drive into the area is rough so definitely consider an SUV or an off-road vehicle. Other good tip, bring your own groceries!! Stop at the supermarket in Samana BEFORE heading towards the house. If you're not familiar with the area, it can be a bit of a drive so save yourself the trips and stock up on groceries prior to arriving at the house. There is NO air conditioning in this house, so pack light. Besides, you'll be at the beach and the pool all day so you won't really need much. There is a nice breeze during the day, but at night it can get really hot, however the rooms do have ceiling fans so you'll be ok. Being that this house is in such a REMOTE location, there will be bugs... LOTS of bugs in all shapes, sizes, colors, flying buys, crawling bugs. Being Dominicans, we're used to them, but for foreigners, be warned! The beaches nearby are out of this world gorgeous!!!! Strongly recommend you drive over to Playa Rincon. Talk about one of the most stunning untouched beaches ever. The locals are amazing!! Coco frio (Fresh coconut water), fresh fish, fresh lobster, fresh everything! Take a boat ride up the river and dive right in to cool off!

With that being said, major kudos and thanks to Yocasty for her excellent communication prior to the trip and for warmly welcoming us to the house. She made our vacation more enjoyable. We had 2 major issues which she addressed and resolved to our liking! So once again, thank you Yocasty!! To the property staff, Gerardo, Lizania, Yamiris, Raul and others, thank you!! They were very attentive and helped with everything including a small wedding that we had at the house.

In closing, this house has it all. If you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you. Bring the sunblock, bathing suits, shorts and flip flops and leave everything else behind! If I could live in this house, I 100% would!!

The property is beautiful, breathtaking.

  • 4 of 5

The property is absolutely stunning. The drive is a bit rough so I would suggest not thinking of taking a small car, more suited for truck/SUV. The staff is very helpful and nice. The manager was undergoing emergency surgery but the staff was good except for mistakenly taking the cell phone to charge leaving us incommunicado except for the wifi which works adequate. The villa itself and the property are just absolutely stunning with breathtaking views throughout. I would highly recommend staying here and hope the inner roadways are paved soon, the dirt roads could be rough going if it rains but once inside villa, you will never want to leave. The maintenance/repairman immediately addressed any concerns like a tripped fuse and the housekeeper/cook should probably be a chef, food was amazing and all kept very clean. I arrived a day late due to poor weather on the east coast of US messing up air travel and the manager approved me staying another day or crediting one day for next stay, which may be sooner than I would have originally planned. Kudos. I would recommend getting your groceries ordered beforehand or stopping in town prior to arriving to villa.

What a great vacations !

  • 5 of 5

Dates : December 28, 2013 x 2 weeks.

We were there for the Holidays, 8 adults and 5 children. What a great place !

Large villa where we were all very comfortable, lots of space! It was so nice to be in the outdoor dining dinner for family meals.

Photos are representative of the Villa there.

Yocasty and her assistant were always availables for our needs.

Lisania, the maid, is a very good person, helpful, always smiling and very engaging. In addition, she cooks very well and she is very effective in his chores, everything was always very clean.

Be assured that we will not hesitate to use your services in the future, and we will be happy to refer you to our friends.

Thanks to you, we had a great vacation.

Ann Michaud-Laplante and all "the family Laplante" ! :-)
