Anglers fish for steelhead and salmon during the winter (catch and release).

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longer, being parents and grandparents, we have become 'snowbirds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion. This Pleasure Point Cottage is one of our favorites. It's a place we enjoy coming to for sheer relaxation, and we take delight in creating an affordable vacation option for others.

We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air, the mild climate and natural beauty of Monterey Bay with its powerful surge of ocean waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities here, and access to either San Francisco peninsula or Carmel-by-the-Sea is easy from the Santa Cruz area.
Where else in the world can you, walk out your front door and down the street a couple of blocks to go surfing, comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog through the Light House Field or along the marshes, go deep sea fishing or sailing, go hiking or ride horseback through the nearby redwood forests; or go kayaking in the Elk Horn Slough? A continuing favorite is to watch the otters, birds and sea lions play in the estuary at sun set, while enjoying a fine fish dinner at Moss Landing.
The place is awesome! We love the closeness to the beach, and the quiet neighborhood. Our dog loved sitting outside on the grass, and the baby loved walks to the beach. We'll definitely return!
We have used VRBO for years and have always been happy with the rental. However, we found it stressful not to have any information regarding how to set up the TV, etc. and it would have been so helpful if instructions had been provided. We were asked to place our used towels and sheets in the laundry room, but could not find it in the cottage. Finally someone told us that it was located outside, on the back walkway. It would have been good to know that. All our previous rentals had information binders and even offered tips on good restaurants. Additionally, it would have been nice to have a small table in the LR for drinks and snacks. It was tiresome of have to hold cold drinks in our hands with nowhere to put them as the only furniture was a desk and couch. On the plus side, we appreciated the little fenced in garden for our dog and the location of the cottage is great.
Generally as described: clean, well stocked kitchen and bathroom; one bedroom; living room wth TV, Cable, Internet, and a sectional sofa; and a small, neat sitting area in front of the cottage..Suitable for a couple. The sections of the sectional sofa in the living room are on coasters. A small child or adult contortionist could sleep on it comfortably. Beyond that there are pads for sleeping in the floor. Accessing the cottage was straight forward and the host responded very promptly to emails.
We stayed at this great little cottage for my nieces wedding and it was just perfect. Two blocks from the beach for a nice walk and no crowds and all we needed with the nice little kitchen and front patio, one bedroom and a nice little living room. Great location and we look forward to a return visit:)
The cottage was perfect for our needs. We only wish that we could have stayed longer to explore the area. The beach is close and perfect for morning walks with our old dog. The younger dog loved the beach also. We were visiting family in the surrounding area and were not able to take full advantage of the location other than my morning run and then walks with the dogs. We would return!
The location was great - within walking distance of the beach and very close to shops and the boardwalk! It was nice being able to bring our dog as well. Renting a house is the way to go.
The cottage is less than two blocks from one of the finest surfing spots on the west coast. It's half way between Carmel By the Sea and San Francisco, on Monterey Bay, close to Old Capitola.
