About Lorraine Heng

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longer, being parents and grandparents, we have become 'snowbirds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion. This Pleasure Point Cottage is one of our favorites. It's a place we enjoy coming to for sheer relaxation, and we take delight in creating an affordable vacation option for others.

Lorraine Heng purchased this cottage in 1979

Why Lorraine Heng chose Santa Cruz

We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air, the mild climate and natural beauty of Monterey Bay with its powerful surge of ocean waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities here, and access to either San Francisco peninsula or Carmel-by-the-Sea is easy from the Santa Cruz area.

What makes this cottage unique

Where else in the world can you, walk out your front door and down the street a couple of blocks to go surfing, comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog through the Light House Field or along the marshes, go deep sea fishing or sailing, go hiking or ride horseback through the nearby redwood forests; or go kayaking in the Elk Horn Slough? A continuing favorite is to watch the otters, birds and sea lions play in the estuary at sun set, while enjoying a fine fish dinner at Moss Landing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our first time staying at a vacation rental and the cottage was perfect for our little family. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable during our stay. Most of all, we loved the location and it's close proximity to the beach and easy access to the shops and eateries. We look forward to visiting again.

Farewell little beach rental!

Come and discover how many beaches you can find to leave your foot prints in the sand!

If you want more adventure: Hike, ride a zip line or train through the beautiful redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains. Visit the UCSC Campus, the Monterey Bay Aquarium or play a round of golf. Our Homeymoon;)

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I spent our honeymoon in the cottage for a week. House was clean and comfy;) we had read a bad review about the bed and was surprisingly very happy that the bed was so comfortable! Clean towels, fully stocked kitchen,(cook wear etc.) even already had coffee in the cabinets:) a tad bit out dated, could use color on the walls but otherwise nicely decorated. 5 minutes or less walking to the beach. Very beautiful scenery close by. Management very nice and helpful.

A great place to end our holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this cottage. The location was perfect - it was easy to get into the centre of Santa Cruz or to nearby villages like Capitola (one of our highlights), there was a choice of supermarkets within a short drive, parking couldn't have been easier and it's in a lovely relaxed neighbourhood with gorgeous sea views only a 5 minute walk away. The cottage itself was really comfortable and we had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. It was decorated to a high standard. We would highly recommend this cottage to couples or small families.

Excellent location!

  • 4 of 5

I want to be honest so this review is realistic.

Downside - unit is a bit dated, cell/wireless coverage is spotty and it would be nice if the plants/bushes along the driveway were trimmed back so it is easier to parallel park.

Upside - unit is clean and in a GREAT location. Literally one block from the coastline where there is a wonderful area to sit on benches and watch the surfers. There is even a cute little corner market that you can get snacks and even sandwiches and burritos. Pleasure Point is an awesome neighborhood away from the congested tourist areas and this unit makes it easy to enjoy it all.

In a quiet neighborhood within close proximity of the ocean.

  • 5 of 5

Located in a quiet neighborhood that is short drive to Santa Cruz or Capitola. Close to a lot of shopping and dining. At night, the sounds of the ocean crashing into the cliffs can be heard from the front door. Close to the Pacific Coast Highway, which made it easy to visit areas north and south of this neighborhood. I would recommend the apartment to friends and family. It was easy to find and easy to get access.

Excellent location

  • 5 of 5

I had driven four days cross country to move to the Bay area. This stop was my reward for the long drive, and it was wonderful. Great place to catch my breath and walk to one of the most beautiful spots on the coast. Highly recommend.
