2 Bedroom 1 Bath Apartment
This comfortable newly renovated first floor apartment is located in Inman Square, between Harvard and MIT. It’s a short walk to shops, live music, and some of the best restaurants in the Boston area. Harvard and Central Square subway are each a 10-15-minute walk away, and MIT is a 15-minute walk. Just two subway stops away from the heart of Boston.
Perfect for families as well as visiting academics; for larger groups, there is another three bedroom apartment upstairs in the same house: together, both apartments can accommodate up to twelve guests, children welcome.
There is a full eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms (queen bed in one, full bed in the other) and a full sleep sofa in the living room that can together accommodate up to six guests. The bathroom has a tub/shower and updated tile. Gleaming hardwood floors throughout and lovely neutral modern décor; a collection of framed color and black and white photographs decorate the walls. The atmosphere is airy, clean and welcoming. All linens and kitchen items provided. Rents monthly in the winter.
We both love Cambridge for its walkability, restaurants, bookstores, coffee shops and nightlife. Michelle works for the State of Massachusetts in policy analysis and I am a self-employed Cabinetmaker. When not working we both enjoy creative pursuits, reading and eating good food.
Jim Creighton purchased this condo in 2006
A great experience. She called me personally for all problems and instructions before moving into the property.
This goes down as one of our most disappointing VRBO experiences. We found tired furniture in various state of disrepair, living room couch that smelled bad, burnt out light bulbs, soft/sagging mattress, old mis-matched linens, lumpiest and oldest pillows we have come across. There wasn’t enough towels for the four of us. Kitchen was stocked with no decent water glasses, no wine glasses, lots of plates but not enough bowls for four people, and no toaster. Of note, there are no closets in either of the two bedrooms – only one very small one in the hallway. There are window-mounted air-conditioners in the two bedrooms, but nothing in the living/front room or the kitchen. Inside the apartment is fairly clean – but the approach to the front entrance had garbage that remained the entire time we stayed (6 days). We first arrived very late at night to a house without any lights on; the taxi driver had to drive by twice, as we couldn’t read the address – we then had to go from house to house in the dark on foot, to finally find the address. We were told that there would be an air mattress and pull-out couch for our use, along with sufficient linens for both – but we could only find enough old linen (and no blanket) to make just one extra bed. In the end, there was nowhere to put the air mattress in the apartment, except right in front of the couch. So you can’t use the pull-out couch and air mattress at the same time. We were glad to have the air mattress, nevertheless, as the pull-out couch didn’t look clean and was very uncomfortable. This “condo” has become more of a budget college student apartment, than a contemporary style condo for travelers. Noise from upstairs woke us up many times – from either people coming back late at night, or a little kid running back and forth incessantly early in the morning. This condo may have been nicely renovated and equipped when VRBO Bear stayed back in 2010 – but it desperately needs some TLC. We'd highly recommend Metro Boston Hubway bike share for getting around (there's a station nearby) - it's about 25 min leisurely bike ride to Boston Common, and less than 10 min ride to Harvard/MIT. Biking along Charles River is a must, especially at sunset. Oleana and Life Alive are two great places to try within an easy walking distance.
We stayed for 4 night in the heart of Cambridge, just a sort ride to downtown off the red line and a quick walk to Harvard Square. The place was spacious and easy to find. If I have any suggestion it would be to install ceiling fans in the front room and the kitchens to help circulate air, otherwise a first rate experience.
For the cost and conditions, this condo was perfect for two couples. It was clean and comfortable, in a good neighborhood, an affordable cab ride to downtown Boston and walkable to Harvard, MIT and several good restaurants and stores. My only complaint is that the people staying in the other rental above walked around a lot very loudly and were walking back and forth all morning making sleep difficult. I would still recommend staying here as the noise depends on the renters. This condo made staying in the Boston area affordable while meeting quality expectations and I would stay here again.
I stayed with two of my colleagues at this little apartment in Cambridge for 3 days while we participated in a workshop at Harvard. We found the accommodations to be perfect. Clean and tidy with everything we needed. It was a perfect place to relax after day of work. We enjoyed walking to and from Harvard. It took about half an hour, and on the way home in the evening we always found somewhere great to stop for drinks and a meal. All 3 of us felt that we would definitely stay here again next time we come to Cambridge.
My husband, son, and grandson came to Cambridge for our daughters graduation at Harvard. This apartment was in a great location for the graduation ceremonies, but far enough away to be very peaceful and quiet at night. We were very close to grocery stores and restaurants also. Would highly recommend this apartment!
+Big enough for 2 couples to share
+Booking via Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony went quick and smooth; the contact people there, were super friendly and helpful and very motivated (great job)
-Issues with the parking space: no clarity about how to access the garage (confusion about access hours); garage key was not available) - however problem was solved quickly with a few phone calls (this apartment was rented out for the first time so the owner forgot to mention the garage key to Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony)
Good price for quality! Without the parking issue, I would have rated the place with 5 stars. If you arrive with your car, book a parking space as street parking in Cambridge is horrible.
Cambridge is a vibrant community of universities, shops and restaurants. It boarders Boston and convenient to tourist attractions.
