Beautiful Location

  • 4 of 5

Sauble Point Farmhouse is a very nice and large vacation home that we felt gave us plenty of room for the 6-8 of us (plus our dog). It has not only lots or room inside but outside as well. The property's seclusion was an added bonus, especially with our energetic dog! We did experience a few minor issues with the house but Rose was right on top of making sure things were taken care of, either by herself or the handyman. Made a couple trips to Dublin Market (awesome store!) and to Manistee area to swim in Lake Michigan (only 1/2 hour away-note: dog-friendly beach out by Manistee water tower; take Washington St.), plus a stop at the farm market on the corner of 31 and 8 Mile/Freesoil Road for produce, baked goods and fudge! We called for firewood and it was delivered promptly by a very nice man, and week's worth (maybe more) of firewood was $30. Unfortunately we were not able to launch our 16 ft. boat into the lake since the private boat launch is pretty rustic. However, Bass Lake (about a mile away) has a updated boat launch so my husband didn't have to go far to go fishing. The rowboat had a slight leak but he did take it out a couple times to fish on Sauble Lake and the kids used the paddle boat. Navigating the hill to the lake was a little challenging to our twins who have a slight disability but the swimming was worth the climb. Water shoes came in handy since the bottom is somewhat mucky. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend it to others.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review & so glad you enjoyed your stay & the seclusion & space that Sauble Point Farmhouse offers! Because it's a remodeled original farmhouse, we do experience occasional needed repairs, and appreciate tenants bringing them to our attention. The fishing boat is being repaired, ad the window issues have been resolved. Again, thanks for noting them for us. Also appreciate the "hints" for future renters. The soft bottom of lakes is common up here, where lakes are minimally inhabited & surrounded by trees! Part of the uniqueness of the North! Again, thanks for the response & hope you visit again soon!

Peaceful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a week of peace and quiet at the farmhouse on Sauble Lake. All the comforts of home, but with the sounds of nature, and the joys of playing on the water! The paddleboat was great fun, and fishing was good. This place offers some serious R&R! We had a fantastic time and would love to come back for a repeat visit next summer.

A Lovely Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The two of us, and our two dogs, enjoyed our stay so much...our only problem was that we should have stayed longer. The farmhouse is just well-kept and with everything anyone could possibly need. We were greeted with a vase of Michigan wildflowers on the dining room table and the breeze from the lake came into the open windows. I loved it! The lake itself is ideal for swimming, boating and fishing, and the hike down to the lake, plus the swim out to the floating raft, were some wonderful fitness tools for my sixty-year old body. I have not felt this relaxed for decades! The whole nearby area is a vacation paradise, too, with lanes to walk down that were strewn with plants and wildflowers, and even deer at dusk. The Irons Cafe has the best homemade sauerkraut soup I've ever had anywhere, and the store in nearby Dublin is a place you can find anything and everything. The Sweet Fern Emporium is a wonderful place to buy pretty handmade gifts. All in all, I enjoyed this more than I can say and can't thank the managers enough for their kindness in helping to find our crazy dogs when they ran off for a bit. This was an absolutely wonderful vacation!

5 bedroom farm house on the lake

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time. The place was clean and ready for us upon arrival. We called the next day for firewood and it was delivered within 2 hours. Some well seasoned red oak (bring a splitting tool) for a decent price. The floating dock was a hit with all. The water was clean and warm. The local bait shop had all we needed and the store in Dublin (10 minutes away) had about anything you needed from marshmellows to ammunition.

The fishing was good and the paddle boat, fishing boat, and canoe got used a lot. The hill down to the lake was a bit much for me and a handrail would have helped. I'm overweight and weak knees so the trip down was worse than going back up but I enjoyed myself up top and the younger ones used the water. It was an excellent week with only one rainy day which the board games in the entertainment center got used a lot. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. The house was complete. All you need is your food and clothing. A#1

Wonderful place for our family

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 (ages 18 mo to 66 years) vacationed for a week this summer. The farm was great for the kids to run around; we rented kayaks and paddled through all the connected lakes; had campfire every night; did a little fishing; had ice cream multiple times at the emporium . . . it was peaceful, relaxing and beautiful! We'll return again!!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! The seclusion of the Farmhouse is one of it's attractions for families, especialy with little one's like you're blessed with! Really appreciate the "heads up" you provided for the minor problems you encountered. It's difficult to spot leaky faucets when clenaing! Looking forward to hosting you again any time, it was a pleasure to meet you! Rose & Jim, Mgrs.
