About Joyce Crone
Married Sept. 8, 1967, we have two children a boy and girl Cody & Corrin, we also have one grandson Jack. We built these homes and retired in the early 2000's from the building industry.
Joyce Crone purchased this House Boat in 1995
Why Joyce Crone chose Canemah
We have always been drawn to the outdoors, we started water skiing in the late 50's so a home on the water was a natural progression. We thought about buying a sailboat and sailing away into the sunset but after reading all the Readers Digest horror stories we settled on a floating home.

Much better than a Five Star home
The pictures simply do not do the property justice. Everything inside is amazing, the care takers live next door so if you need anything there is always someone there to help. The outside deck can only be described as spectacular, especially if you sit out side an use the fire pit.
Property is a little older then this picture, but it was the most relaxing vacation ever.
The entrance and parking area is sketchy, not well marked. dirt parking lot, and have to cross a very active train track on foot to get to houseboat. (Well worth it) the trains were not a bother at all. The houseboat sits lower then the tracks so muffled the sound. You can hear the waterfall from the deck as you enjoy morning coffee, lunch or evening dinner and pit fire. (We had a fire almost every night). We were hear for our daughters wedding and our friends rented the Minnow and the Bungalow, what a great time had by all. Would recommend floating homes to all my friends. We had minor issues. The hot tub is an old model and the jets are very weak, disappointing. The master shower sprayer head on handheld unit leaks badly. The out door grill was brand new never used (electric) and we couldn't make it work, had power but no heat. We figured it out, its a smart unit and the load was to much for the extension cord. So we removed it and plugged directly into outlet and it worked great. No paper to start the fire pit with but we made due with recyclables. The master bed was way to soft and you fell into a bowl, killed my back. ended up having to put a large pillow behind my back to become comfortable. Mattress should be changed. The other two beds were fine. We did have the first day tiny ants in the kitchen sink. Also as friendly as the ducks and geese are they crap all over the deck. I washed it off every morning with a buckets of water, but a hard bristle broom would help. The care takers Cared, and were wonderful. Also very convenient most things. The house is well equipped with anything you need and is decorated very nicely. This is a beautiful home, inviting and relaxing. Again a beautiful vacation, great location, relaxing. If you never stayed on a house boat before, do it!. Thank you.
An amazing weekend!
6 of us moms enjoyed a weekend away for some peace and relaxation. What an amazing home!!’ The caretaker Gary was easily accessible and got us wood for the fire and helped us get the hot tub temp just right.
We will definitely be back!!!
Rented the house for Presidents Day weekend to spend it with our daughter's family. Was perfect! Great kitchen to cook in and plenty of room for everyone. Hope we can come back soon!
All you see and more
This house is beautiful inside and out. Our family spent Christmas there and to our delight it was Christmas Ready as soon as we walked in. It made for one the most serene, peaceful and relaxing Christmas's we've ever had. Amenities like the hot tub and being able to sit by the fire on the deck at night made for truly unique stay. Half the pictures and video we took while there were of the wildlife on the river. Whether it's for Christmas or any other time of the year if you are looking for a memorable and unique experience we highly recommend this property.
Beautiful setting, well appointed home, great experience
Our family booked the floating home for our Thanksgiving holiday. First the setting is just idyllic. The river is running by and there’s ducks and interesting birds all the time passing by. The dock that the home rests on has two large herons as sculptures. Early one morning I looked out and there was a third giant heron, a real one, posed with the two bronze ones. It was amazing. The home itself had everything we needed to prepare a full Thanksgiving meal. The home is very clean, well stocked, with anything that people would want to entertain themselves. I did some fishing, and everyone enjoyed the hot tub, which overlooks the river. Shopping is close by, as isPDX for those flying in, but the home gives you the feeling of being away. We recommend and thank Joyce for making the property available for rental.
We are so happy to hear that you love our floating home they way we do!
Thank you so much!
