Pacific Grove Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Delightful historic 1884 cottage: 1 bedroom, 1 bath, library - sleeps 2

Cottage at the Cove is a lovely recently refurbished 1884 vintage Victorian located just steps from Lover's Point park and beach in the Retreat District. The oceanfront recreation trail leads you to the Point Pinos Lighthouse to the west and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (2 passes included) and Cannery Row to the east. The wonderful Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is just around the corner. A 3 block walk to town will find you in the midst of Pacific Grove friendliness: shops for any and all necessities/frivolities, antiques and curios, grocery store, pharmacy, banks, bookstore, delightful restaurants and bakeries, library, museum, art galleries, historical gardens, various parks, and the four screen movie theater. Pacific Grove is a town without stoplights, still! Park your car at the cottage and enjoy Pacific Grove by foot.

Cottage at the Cove's broad sunny front porch with wicker furniture is the perfect spot to begin the day with coffee or tea. The charming rear garden is intimate and lovely.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Stepping into your blue and white heritage cottage sent me into my grandmother’s world. Her similarly appointed Seattle home had a kitchen and back porch much like yours, and she grew geraniums, hydrangea, and morning glory in her back yard. Remembering the cool overcast days of Seattle and trips to Puget Sound beaches added to the feeling I was in grandma’s world. When my husband joined me three days later, he marveled at the warmth the cottage provides with its endless collectibles and artifacts. We both appreciated the two signed serigraphs in the kitchen, “Red Ripe” and “Back Porch.”

We’ve been to Pacific Grove for a weekend every year, but this was the first stay in a real home. Thank you so much for sharing your beach home with us.

Perfect home for 1 or 2 in Pacific Grove

What a wonderful find!

As context, I travel to Pacific Grove at least once per year to visit family, and I have rented VRBO lodgings from California to Rome. This one is the best. Why?

1.) Your host, Carol. So thoughtful and communicative--she is the best!

2.) The space itself. The property is immaculate and perfectly appointed. Everything you need is there, and the decor might make you smile--e.g., check out the blue bottles over the bathroom mirror, how they descend in size to accommodate the sloping ceiling. :-) Immaculate bears repeating: I felt as if I were the property's first renter.

3.) The location. As you can see on the map, it's close to everything. Because I was visiting family within walking distance, I canceled my rental car--and I never missed it. Even if you decide to rent a car, if you're also a fit walker, there will probably be days you never crank it. Where else would you rather be?

Highest, grateful recommendation!

Central Coast Gem!

This CUTE and perfect cottage is perfect! Everything is as described regarding amenities, location, etc. This cottage is located PERFECTLY! The day we spent in PG we left the rental car at home, walked to First Awakenings (ate there 3 times) and headed out for our day: Aquarium, Cannery Row, and the PG Farmer's Market. We easily got to Big Sur, Carmel, Downtown Monterey for the wharf and their Farmer's Market as well. Being from Salinas, this was by far the best place to spend a week in the Bay Area! On our last night we watched the sunset from Asilomar and saw plenty of wild life, to include a momma otter with her pup out in some kelp. HIGHLY recommend and will return here for future visits!

This property by far is the best I have stayed in in the Monterey area. One block from the beach and Lover's Point. Two blocks from small town shops and amazing dining options. Beautiful walk to Cannery Row along a path that parallels the ocean.

The cottage itself is superb. "Peace and quiet"--waking only the the sound of gulls calling to each other. A bed that you never want to leave---comfortable, sound slumber. A fully stocked kitchen to create gourmet cuisine. Wonderful aroma of lavender on the back patio.

I could go on forever about how awesome this property is but two things that stand out the most are: 1) this is the cleanest, most presentable property I have ever stayed in. I have stayed in Home Away properties around the world and have never experienced such attention to cleaning details. 2) the owner Barbara goes out of her way to ensure you have everything you need and will check in on you to make sure everthing is to your satisfaction. PS: Barbara also leaves coffee, creamer, and a Wonderful bottle of vino to get your amazing vacation started!!!!!

Owner's Response: Your enthusiasm is much appreciated as was your exquisite care of the cottage. Come back soon, come back often - escape that intense Texas summer heat! The sea and the morning gulls await your return. You are always welcome at Cottage at the Cove.

Adorable cottage, perfect location, thoughtfully appointed

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed a week in March and loved this little historic cottage; close to the beach but on a quiet street. It's meticulously maintained and equipped with everything you could want in a vacation home. The cottage was thoughtfully decorated and the furnishings very comfortable. I read the book about Pacific Grove history that the owner provided and found it fascinating. There was a nice cafe a few blocks up the street, and we had dinner at two very good restaurants the owner recommended, also an easy walk away. We rented bikes at nearby Lover's Point and biked well past Monterey; another day we walked along the coast in the other direction, seeing otters in the wild! The aquarium passes were also so thoughtful; the aquarium is a must-see. There's so much to do and see, but just relaxing is also an option! It was a wonderful place to stay, and we would return.

Excellent home! Well maintained, easy access to all surrounding communities, easy rental arrangements, quiet street, a block from Lover's Point and the ocean. The owner is very responsive and accommodating. Many local restaurants & shops. There is a book of travel information and menus from San Fransisco to Big Sur is available. I would recommend this home to anyone.

A perfect gem in a favorite area!

Words are insufficient to express the wonderful time we had at your "gem" of a cottage. Barbara, you are a gracious hostess & this is, by far, the BEST vacation rental ever!! Loved all your special touches throughout this historic home. We didn't need a thing to feel comfortable and pampered. I was lamenting the fact that I'd forgotten to bring my adult coloring book....but to my surprise, I found your postcards with colored pencils to create a couple of postcards to send off to the grandkids! I found all the kitchen staples I needed including a fresh head of garlic, a bottle of wine and a fresh bag of Peet's coffee & cream! We had such a relaxing time there that we opted to have most meals in. We splurged one night with fresh cracked crab from Sea Harvest Fish Market! Thanks for allowing us to share your beautiful cottage❣ We will return, for sure!
