My husband and I have met in the Valley of the Moon (Sonoma valley), California. Don is a native of San Francisco. He is an illustrator and fine Art artist. He studied Art in the san Francisco Art Institute and has a great perspective eye and realistic art like trompe-l'oeil and portraits . I was born in Bordeaux, France . I am a world traveler , a guide , a language teacher, a rep in Mediterranean artifacts &Decorative ceramic tiles . Dance and photography are my hobbies . We both fell in love with the magic beauty of the Sonoma region and its unique mix of continental and tropical vegetation. We also feel very grateful for the wonderful climate and the proximity of the Pacific Coast , the mountains and our beloved San Francisco , only 45mn away !!!...

We throughly enjoyed our stay in this little gem of a house. The highlights for us was the massive backyard and pool. Everything was well maintained and the shrubs and trees attracted a number of birds, which were fun to watch. The water in the pool stayed at a good temperature even after cool nights. Speakers and a grill made for the perfect July 4th getaway. The house was well furnished with everything we needed. One of the bedrooms has a full sized bed so it may be small for a couple. There was plenty of place to sleep though with the daybed and the queen size sofa bed. The owners were very helpful with recommendations for places around and answering questions. Overall it was a wonderful experience.
My family flew from NYC to spend Thanksgiving with us here, and we all stayed up at the Glen Ellen Nest and had a wonderful weekend. The house and the property is absolutely gorgeous; my parents enjoyed sitting out in the sunny patio outback. The kitchen suited us very well for us to cook a delicious thanksgiving meal, turkey and all and we enjoyed the feast in the nice dining room. Yannick and Don are wonderful hosts and greeted us on arrival to show us how everything worked and to make sure that we were all settled in. While we didn't spend too much time going into town, the house is right down the street from Glen Ellen and sits among several wonderful Sonoma restaurants, and is a short drive to Sonoma Square. We highly recommend this house!
Traveled with my husband, toddler, another couple and their toddler and we all had an amazing weekend in Sonoma County, and having the Glen Ellen Nest as our home base was a major part of this! Highlights:
PROPERTY: the home and its surroundings are truly an oasis! A beautiful pool, wonderful landscaping and tons of seating (pergola, loungers, hammock). Beautiful, native plants including a lime tree, olive trees, grapes and a huge palm tree. It was serene with all of the birds chirping and the tall fence really made us feel like we were at a private resort! Inside the wonderfully decorated home is a large sitting room off the pool with a small bath, nice kitchen, front sitting area and two good sized bedrooms (another bathroom in the back as well as master in the king bedroom). It was great because we really felt together on this trip, but not on top of each other.
LOCATION: easy access to many of the nearby sites (downtown Sonoma, we drove about 1.25 hours to the coast, Train Town, and all of the wonderful wineries in between) as well as walking distance to the quaint town of Glen Ellen. It was great to start the day with a quick walk to get a coffee and some fresh air!
BOOKING: The price was comparable and in the end beat out most of the 2 bedrooms we considered. Initial booking and questions were always answered quickly and pleasantly by both email and phone. We were able to pay by credit card. Don met us and walked us through the property which was a great start to the weekend.
We will be back - hopefully next time without the toddlers :)
Our daughter was married in Kenwood on Oct. 11th. We wanted to stay the weekend close to the venue site. After days of searching online for the perfect get-away rental I found the "Nest". It was the perfect choice.....Yannick and Don were so welcoming. The house was so inviting and warm... appointed with all the comforts you could possibly need. The property inside and out was immaculate. We loved looking at all the artifacts and especially Don's amazing paintings. The location was ideal for a walk to restaurants, mini market, post office, or just a lovely stroll. The weather couldn't of been more perfect making for an enchanted moonlit wedding. Staying at the "Nest" completed a beautiful weekend..."A Weekend to Remember" We will definitely be back !!!
A group of us stayed at Glen Ellen Nest for an extended weekend getaway to the Napa area. We found everything about our stay at the "Nest" to be beyond our expectations. The house is well appointed and the decorations eclectic and inviting. Everyone in our party commented how much larger the home seemed compared to the pictures online. In addition, Yannick is VERY nice and was available, if necessary. Fortunately, we never needed anything other than the pleasant welcome that we received upon arrival. Our only regret was that we did not spend enough time at the house. We will seek to stay here again on our return visits to the Napa area!!!
My wife and I stayed here with our two grown children and had a great time. Yannick is warm and welcoming; her home is charming and comfortable and the location is excellent. We walked to dinner two nights, walked into town several times where there is a fantastic grocery/deli/wine shop, walked to 2 wineries, and walked to Jack London State Park. Highly recommended.
We spent our Thanksgiving holiday in Glen Ellen- my first trip to the CA wine country. My family of three (my husband, 16 year-old daughter and me) shared this lovely home with my sister. We had the rest of our family renting a larger home on Robertson Rd which was great as we could walk between them. This home is all it says it is and more. Yannick was a lovely and welcoming hostess. The house is bigger than we thought it would be as it has two living areas, one that my daughter settled into as her room. She took the front room which has a day bed that she found quite cozy and was separate enough from the kitchen and other living area that she wasn't bothered by earlier risers. The second living area is full of windows and light and opens to the beautiful patio and yard. This is a charming and cozy place painted in beautiful warm colors and full of interesting treasures with everything you need. We hosted breakfast one sunny morning on the patio after a family yoga session in the living room. Our place was the respite from the bigger, busier home where the rest of the family was staying. We enjoyed watching the birds in the yard, the 2 year-old (and my teenager) both jumped in the pool even in November! and the place just couldn't have been better. The owners are close by if you need them and they have a shelf full of tourist and area information to help you find your way around. The house is right in town, a quick walk to the wonderful market and anywhere you might want to go in town. Jack London State Park is right up the road and a great place for walks or bike rides, Glen Ellen has several wineries in and around town and several wonderful restaurants. It is also a short drive to Sonoma in one direction or Santa Rosa in another. I can't say enough good things about this charming home and its location and would recommend it to anyone.
