The Waikiki Banyan, located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, is the perfect 'home-away-from-home' for people who want to enjoy everything the Island of Oahu has to offer.
The Waikiki Banyan is one block away from Waikiki Beach, shopping, and dining. Less than two blocks from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park, and roughly a one-mile hike from the entrance to Diamond Head Center. The perfect compromise between the 'heart of the action' and 'a little peace and quiet'.
Accommodations: Premium, spacious one bedroom suite with the conveniences of a home. Bright and meticulously maintained. This is No Smoking condo, the Waikiki Banyan is a Smoke Free building.
We have had a great time everything was perfect but, we are not looking forward to returning to the snow tonight.

Our 3 consecutive year experience at this location has been great. The view is spectacular and all amenities, such as the pool, were used often. Because of the ideal location, the beach, restaurants, transportation are easily accessible. The owner stays on top of all communication and his local condo manager is prompt and efficient. Therefore, customer service is excellent. We would recommend this condo to anyone. We discovered such good valued restaurants such as Wolfgang Puck Express in Waikiki.
Great location, just one block from the ocean, and close to everything. The unit was clean. The only complaint is the bathroom which needs an upgrade to reflect current standards. You need a good plumber to fix those faucets in the shower. We worried they would fall off.
I was very pleased. The photos just don't do justice. I will definitely book the next time I'm in Waikiki!
Our experience was a good one. Everyday we would find useful items around the house that we were not aware of. Anything from beach chairs, an iron, to even a broom so we can sweep up any sand from our long days at the beach. Might sound like simple items but, they are necessities that you wish were around and they were. We always like to stay at the Waikiki Banyan because of the location. Literally only a 1 block walk from the beach and all the stores. Also only about a 45min drive to North shore. My family was very happy with the stay and don't plan on looking anywhere else for future stays.
Booked a week in Waikiki and this was a good deal. Condo was clean and well equipped. Everything worked good. Steven was easy to deal with and Buddi, the local manager, was easy to reach to answer a couple of questions we had.
A block to the beach and short walks to most of the good spots to eat and drink. Didn't use the pool or facilities but they looked great and were well used by other guests.
The Aston Banyan is an older building and despite some recent renovations (based on previous reviews) it still shows its age. Our unit was clean and well presented. Hallway carpet, doors and paint outside the unit look dated but we didn't spend much time looking at that. Plenty of pillows and blankets and I slept soundly in the bed. Sleeping situation on the sofa bed is another issue purely because there has yet to be sofa bed made that is not creaky and wobbly. As our kids were tired at the end of the day they seem to sleep well. The A/C worked well to cool the place off in the evening for bedtime. It does leave a pool of water on the lanai but it's not a big deal.
The fixtures in the bathroom could use a refresher and update. Other than that the place was ideal. One point to make, and Steven was clear about this in our communications with him, this is not part of the Aston resort and you cannot get any service at all from the front desk or staff. We politely enquired about renting a rollaway bed (our kids weren't too excited about sharing the sofa bed at first) and the reaction from the front desk chick was, "Ugh, not from us", and that was the end of it. They seemed quite aloof and reminded me of employees at high end retail chains who think they're something special when they actually just have a job at the mall and make minimum wage. Doesn't take much to be polite but the impression I got was that guests of private owners are held in low regard and they go out of the way to let you know not to expect anything from them..
The convenience store in the lobby is a rip off and charges a high premium for that convenience ($5/gal water). We used it when we ran out of milk or needed some after sun cream but other than that there's an ABC store on about every block (some blocks have 2). Locals told us ABC stands for 'All Blocks Covered'. They had everything we needed and there are supermarkets within a 10 minute walk or you can ride the trolley for $2.
All in all a great place to stay. If the bathroom was updated I'd have given it another star.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Waikiki Banyan and had a wonderful time. The condo is spotlessly clean, spacious, and perfectly located. The kitchen is fully equipped, but we only used the toaster, coffee maker and refrigerator. It was a very short walk to the beach and an easy walk to and from the many restaurants in the area. We were in Waikiki to attend a wedding at the Hale Koa Hotel, which was also walkable. We appreciated the free parking, and made regular visits to the convenience store and coffee shop located on the first floor.
The condo is very close to many bars and restaurants as well as to the beach. We visited Lulu's, Arancini's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Tiki Lounge, and Starbucks, only a block or so away. The Royal Hawaiian's Mai Tai Lounge, Roy's, and Nobu were also an easy walk away. We enjoyed walking down to the beach for the sunset lighting of tiki torches and Hawaiian music. Diamond Head and the hike to the top is just a short bus ride or a long walk away. Our favorite part of the trip was strolling along the beach after dinner, when the air turned a little cooler. We rented a car for just two days, to drive up to the North Shore and to Kailua Beach. From the condo, it was very easy to leave Waikiki and return at the end of the day.
Although it was clean and everything worked properly, I would say it's time to update the bathroom. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and have recommended the condo to our friends.
