About Grainne.

I'm Gráinne, originally from Co. Kildare and raised in a small family run hotel. I am married to Tim who is now retired from An Garda Siochána (Irish Police).

Tim and I purchased this property in 1986 and lived here for a number of years until our family grew and we needed to relocate.

We loved living in this area and have many happy memories of our first home here.

I have consistently worked in the hospitality industry and always wanted to provide holiday accommodation here as I felt this to be an ideal location. I have been lucky enough to have realized my dream.

I pay particular attention to detail and set the highest of standards in cleanliness and customer care.

Our aim is to ensure that you really feel at home and comfortable in our apartment and we will endeavor to assist you in any way with any aspect of your vacation, so that you get the most out of your trip to Dublin.

We are at the end of the phone 24 hours a day if you need any assistance.

Assuring you of our best attention.

Grainne. purchased this apartment in 1986

Why Grainne. chose Dublin

We chose this location because of close proximity to downtown Dublin.

We loved the period red brick property with large rooms.

Fantastic large enclosed rear which is very private and unusual for a city centre property.

Easy access to any part of the countryside and still only 10 minutes from downtown.

Nice residential old part of Dublin with true Dublin characters in abundance.

Settled community with lots of nice neighbors whom you can be sure will speak to you if you bump into them.

All facilities such as banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, butchers, gas station, restaurants, pubs, hair and beauty salons, dry cleaners, etc on the street.

Super public transport with the Luas and Dublin bus.

What makes this apartment unique

The most unique benefit is the location.

Only 10 minutes from downtown Dublin with that real at home feeling when you arrive back after your day out.

The house was built in the 1800's and has a lovely spacious and tranquil feeling to it.

I love the large rooms and high ceilings with the original coving and open fire which is really cozy on a Winter's evening.

In the Summer time, we enjoyed many barbeques out back, and found it peaceful and quiet.

One huge benefit and highly unusual in a city apartment is the amount of both indoor and outdoor space.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bay apartment last week from late aug through Labor day weekend. It was heaven. Beautifully furnished. Clean. Everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We rented a car, so the spacious yard with gated fence gave us peace of mind that it would be safe.

The appliances in the flat were so convenient. We did laundry almost everyday and the clothes came out wonderful. I cooked and found everything I needed at my fingertips...well except for pepper!! Lol!! The bathroom is big and spacious and I was surprised by the excellent water pressure and plentiful hot water!! The bedroom was also large and had plenty of outlets so we could charge our phones and things. The living room was cozy and we were able to spend our last nights relaxing in front of the fire.

Grainne and Tim were attentive to our needs, while giving us plenty of privacy. Tim sent a man spot quick to fix the hose leak on the shower and Grainne had her caretaker put keys in the lock box when we accidentally locked ourselves out!! She was always available by text to answer our questions including where to get fireplace supplies! The gentleman at the back of the property even remotely opened the back gate for us one morning!!

Inchicore is a wonderful little village. We felt comfortable walking around even at night. The Italian restaurant in town was amazing! Romantic and delicious

food. The village is close to local attractions such as Guiness Storehouse, Drimnaugh Castle and Kilmainham Gaol and the M50 motorway, so we were able to go anywhere we wanted with

ease.

This apartment is so comfortable and amazing, we felt at home within hours and hated leaving yesterday morning! We will definitely stay here again upon a revisit to Ireland. Everything was just perfect!!

Warm, welcoming, 10/10 would recommend

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the Grace Gifford cottage with my husband and we found the apartment to suit our needs perfectly. The property was safe, private and very well kept. Everything in the apartment was pristine and polished to the last. We found the location to be excellent, as it was easily accessible with public transport. The owners and their neighbour were more than helpful, answering any queries we had immediately.

I would highly recommend staying here and am looking forward to my next visit!

I would like to thank the staff for being so friendly and helping us make the most out of our trip to Dublin

"Lipstick on a Pig" - fooled by beautiful photos, lovely decorating, but a filthy kitchen

  • 1 of 5

We booked the "Grace Gifford Cottage". We arrived after 8pm to an unpleasant musky odor. We called the owner regarding issues with the oven heating as well as filthy dishes and the dishwasher filter that was clogged with rotting food and broken glass. The owner apologized for the dirty dishes and explained she had a different cleaning lady then usual but that she should have checked the kitchen better. She explained that they were out of town and that she would send a neighbor over regarding the oven. The neighbor arrived and he started fixing the hot water? We explained we didn't have a hot water concern, it was the oven. Apparently, it is just really slow to heat. Our daughter came out of the shower to say the water was cold. Our son then said he took a cold shower. We followed the directions in the instruction manual and no hot water. Clearly, the neighbor has had to help with the hot water situation in the past - he had also informed us that the owners were out of town at a funeral. I took photos of all of the filth issues in the kitchen and after boiling water to wash dishes as there was no hot water I spent over an hour cleaning to prevent my family getting communicable diseases such as hepatitis. As there was no hot water my husband and I we were not able to shower. At 11:44 pm I sent an email to the owner with photos of the filth, informed of the time I had to clean and the hot water issue. I expressed that I had heard they were out of town for a funeral and that I was sorry for their loss. The following day we did receive an email that upon arriving at the end of our day to call one of there staff who would help with the hot water. The staff apologized for the kitchen and said it was no way to start a vacation. A plumber was arranged for the following day. We were not able to meet with the owners until the morning of July 24. I inquired as to compensation for the filthy kitchen as well as there not being hot water for 2 days. The female owner offered the refund of the cleaning fee. I expressed it was not acceptable, I would expect 1-2 days return of the rental fee. I further stated that we had been more then understanding and respectful of their situation given their being out of town at a funeral. She disagreed and deferred the decision. Her husband was more understanding and refunded 1 nights fees. The Grace Gifford Cottage was not what we expected and we were not invited to review the rental.

Owner's Response: We have built a strong reputation for our holiday vacation rentals since we commenced business in 2008. We strive to provide top quality accommodation at affordable prices and endeavour to assist our guests to have the best holiday experience in Dublin. We are on hand to provide travel advice and any other assistance within our ability. I think our many positive reviews are testament to that. Occasionally, there can be an odd mishap as happened prior to this guest’s arrival when the dishwasher malfunctioned. That was the extent of the lack of cleanliness, and the cleaning of this apartment was personally carried out by myself and an assistant so I state this with 100% clarity. There also was an issue with the boiler and hot water, which was addressed the following day, once we were aware of the problem. While we tried to address the issues with this guest, it soon became apparent that she really was only interested in obtaining a refund and had it all worked out in advance of meeting us. We received emails at almost midnight, and a subsequent barrage of phone calls during the course of this guest’s stay, which was almost bully like behaviour and harassment. We initially felt that we should give her a full refund and ask her to stay elsewhere, but due to the fact that accommodation in Dublin is difficult to source in high season, we did not take this option as we felt that would cause this family a lot more difficulty and stress than having to wash some cups and plates by hand. At another time, we may have dealt with things differently, but coming so soon after the burial of a close friend, we were perhaps not operating at 100% and we feel she took advantage of this. I think the headline of this review speaks volumes. We hope any future guests will read our many other positive reviews on this site and many other advertising sites that we are listed on and be re-assured of our continued focus and commitment to ensuring our high standards are maintained.

Comfortable apartment with parking is a great base to explore Dublin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in the “Michael Collins” apartment and enjoyed our time in Dublin. The owners gave a great set of check in instructions, including directions from the airport to the private parking yard (very convenient). Check-in using the keysafe is easy and convenient. Note that the pictures show two similar but different apartments that are in the same building, but you can figure out which is which as some are labeled and they are very similar anyway. The apartment is nice, comfortable and just as described. The old building and its high ceilings and great crown moldings are very cool. The washer and dryer are in a separate room off the bathroom which is very convenient. The heating is a bit confusing at first (there is a unconnected timer which the owners told me would soon be removed or covered), but I quickly figured out that the radiator valves were just all closed, I opened them and everything worked fine from there. The wifi was great. There can be a little noise when people are moving in the upstairs apartment, not surprising in an old building, but it did not cause any problem sleeping at night. The neighborhood is convenient with small markets in easy walking distance. The Italian restaurant just down the street a few doors past the Black Lion pub is HIGHLY recommended. We had a great dinner there. The kids loved it, and the pizza, pasta and ambiance were all outstanding. This was a great base to explore Dublin for a few days and we would be happy to stay there again.

Wonderful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We brought our soon-to-be 13 year old grandson to Dublin to celebrate his upcoming birthday; the Michael Collins apartment was perfect for the three of us. From my first contact with owner Grainne, our experience was lovely!

The unit is quite large with a full kitchen where I cooked several meals. Lots of room for our grandson to spread out - comfy beds, a pull-out couch. Free WiFi was a bonus and we watched several Euro Cup matches on the telly. It's a comfy, cozy "home away from home" and had everything we needed.

The unit features a sitting room, dining area, master bedroom and a large, attractive bathroom; a W/D on site was an extra bonus. The furnishings are modern and tasteful. This traditional brick home built in the 1800's has been updated and modernized yet still retains old country charm.

The neighborhood is a working-class village with a good pub, The Black Lion, which we enjoyed very much. There are several markets nearby, banking and postal shops, and small take-away food stands. Best of all, the transportation options into Dublin are very close - we used the Red Line Luas tram and the local Dublin bus to get around with ease.

Our stay was really enhanced by Valerie, the on-site property manager. She was lovely! She met us our first night, checked in with us throughout our stay and offered many suggestions. She quickly became our new Irish friend!

Rory, our transport from the airport, was a wonderful help as well, and provided additional services to us throughout our stay. The warmth of everyone associated with this property made our stay truly wonderful.

There are several units in this building; we were on the bottom floor and as any old building, there were creaks and footfalls above us. Valerie was always available to smooth out any issues and all the other guests during our stay were quiet and respectful. There's a school adjacent to the property and it was fun to watch/hear the little ones at play in the morning. Beautiful Catholic church next door, with a lovely park behind. (Rosary Walk)

We're so delighted with our stay at the Michael Collins apartment. Thank you Grainne and Tim for your lovely hospitality - we hope to visit again soon!

Great,clean and spacious apartments!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived the key was not in the box but as soon as I phoned up about it the neighbour Valerie was straight over to let us in, she was very helpful (and extremely friendly) in telling us how to get to places in the city which is only a short bus ride straight along from the apartment. It is in a great location with a tesco and spar across the road. The apartment itself was very clean and fitted with everything needed to self cater for the duration of our stay. Comfortable beds, great bathroom and has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Worth every penny!

Beautiful, clean flat in great location. Great owner's will take good care of you.

  • 5 of 5

The flat was everything we expected and more. You can tell that it was put together with the comfort of the traveler in mind. It has everything you could need, including washer and dryer. Very clean, very comfortable, great location. Two groceries, pharmacies, restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We visited the Black Lion Pub and the Italian restaurant recommended by the owner's care taker, Valerie. The Italian restaurant is absolutely wonderful, the owner is right on top of everything, we ate there 2 of the 4 nights we were in Dublin. The Pub was the perfect place to stop for drinks before dinner. Valerie checked on the property during our stay to make sure everything was working, IE heater.

We used the LUAS for transportation around the city and that worked very well, the stop for the flat is only 15 minutes away by the Black Horse Pub. We would love to come back to Dublin, and would certainly stay in this flat, will recommend it to all our friends.
