About Lauren

Thanksgiving of 2014 we purchased the Olive Branch Cabin after having rented it ourselves several times over the past few years. It is now 'home' where we love to walk, watch the sunrises and sunsets, and be in communion with God and the mountains and the deer who roam here. We think of the mountains of Colorado as 'God's country' and hope that others also find the peace and solitude here that we experience.

We named the cabin 'Olive Branch' because it represents the beginning of a vision we have to reach out to military couples who have experienced brokenness as a result of war. In the Genesis story of Noah and the Ark, the dove brought back an olive branch when the flood waters began to recede. The Olive Branch is therefore a symbol of hope... hope for a new future, hope for a new start in life, hope for a new beginning in our relationships with each other and with God.

And so we are Robert and Victoria and as you may have assumed, we are a military couple who has traveled and lived all over the world. Robert is an Air Force Chaplain and Victoria is a Presbyterian Minister. We have served congregations and military bases in Kentucky, Ohio, Idaho, Spain, Colorado, California, Florida and Texas. But our first love has always been Colorado! We are empty nesters now as we have two college-aged children and the four of us are stretched between three different states. And so one of the reasons we have this cabin is so that we can finally have a place to call home and to gather as a transient and geo-separated family.

Lauren purchased this cabin in 2014

What makes this cabin unique

Many years ago we began to lead marriage retreats for Air Force couples and believe that God is calling us to do this in our future Colorado retirement. Until then we continue to serve God and country, enjoy visits to the Olive Branch Cabin, and spending time with our adult children. It is our hope that your time spent at the 'Olive Branch Cabin' will bring about hope, renewal and sacred rest.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a delightful cabin! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, couldn't have asked for a better place. Red Door vacations was wonderful, so easy to work with and the cabin was perfect. We would highly recommend it!

Beautiful home in the Colorado Mountains!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had an absolutely beautiful stay at the Olive Branch cabin. We look forward to returning when we have more time. The home is even more lovely than the pictures indicate. We have rented many, many VRBO homes over the last 10 years, and this by far was one of the best! Anything we could want had already been thought through and provided. We will definitely be coming back!

The love the owners have for this home really comes through, and we love to manage it for them! Come back and visit us! Thank you, -Lauren & Red Door Vacation Rentals

Great retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was an anniversary trip to get away from it all. This cabin was perfect! It's well maintained, secluded, and the scenery was beautiful. The customer service from booking through check out verification was excellent. Will definitely be using this service again, and plan to bring the kids next time, since the cabin is the perfect size. Fair warning, call signal is quite spotty in the mountains.

Owner's Response: We're so happy you had a great time. This cabin is a great place for a romantic getaway, but big enough for families too, so we're glad you're bringing the kids next time! You're right though, sometimes cell service isn't very good in the mountains. That can be good when you're trying to disconnect, but not as good when you're trying to make a call. We'd love to see you and your family back again. Thank you, --Lauren & Red Door Vacation Rentals

Wonderful family get away

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to the Olive Branch and it didn't disappoint. We love driving the short distance to get to a place so refreshing. We hope to make this our little getaway cabin for future stays. All you have to bring are clothes and food! Unless you want to eat out in the surrounding towns... then just your clothes. Beds are VERY luxurious and comfy, slept like a baby. Even the kiddos! Thanks for a great cabin!

One of a kind

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is well situated in a secluded lot with lots of pine trees. It is very clean and updated and well stocked. We pack items with us like cooking utensils because they are typically non-existent or in poor shape in most cabins. This cabin had everything you needed in the kitchen to cook full meals and a microwave and coffee maker. In the bathroom plenty of towels and large hot tub towels, a hairdryer, washer and dryer. We don't have a pet, but there was even a large dog crate/cage. The outdoor grill was very clean and well maintained. The hot tub was great, clean and well maintained. This cabin has been well taken care of and tastefully decorated to make you feel quite comfortable. Our winter experience was fun and cozy (there is heat if you choose not to use the wood-burning stove), but looks like it would be a great place to stay in the summer. I would rent this cabin again and would not hesitate to bring friends with me. You will not be disappointed.

Charming and secluded cabin getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet but well appointed getaway and this cabin was perfect. From the well-stocked kitchen to the spacious bathroom w/ claw foot tub to the toasty fireplace, the cabin made for a lovely weekend. The hot tub was ready to go and just what we needed after a day of hiking near Cripple Creek and every morning we would sit on the porch for coffee, enjoying the spacious view. Thank you so much! I hope we make it back here again!
