About Laura or Chris
Thanksgiving of 2014 we purchased the Olive Branch Cabin after having rented it ourselves several times over the past few years. It is now 'home' where we love to walk, watch the sunrises and sunsets, and be in communion with God and the mountains and the deer who roam here. We think of the mountains of Colorado as 'God's country' and hope that others also find the peace and solitude here that we experience. We named the cabin 'Olive Branch' because it represents the beginning of a vision we have to reach out to military couples who have experienced brokenness as a result of war. In the Genesis story of Noah and the Ark, the dove brought back an olive branch when the flood waters began to recede. The Olive Branch is therefore a symbol of hope... hope for a new future, hope for a new start in life, hope for a new beginning in our relationships with each other and with God. And so we are Robert and Victoria and as you may have assumed, we are a military couple who has traveled and lived all over the world. Robert is an Air Force Chaplain and Victoria is a Presbyterian Minister. We have served congregations and military bases in Kentucky, Ohio, Idaho, Spain, Colorado, California, Florida and Texas. But our first love has always been Colorado! We are empty nesters now as we have two college-aged children and the four of us are stretched between three different states. And so one of the reasons we have this cabin is so that we can finally have a place to call home and to gather as a transient and geo-separated family.
Laura or Chris purchased this Cabin in 2014
What makes this Cabin unique
Many years ago we began to lead marriage retreats for Air Force couples and believe that God is calling us to do this in our future Colorado retirement. Until then we continue to serve God and country, enjoy visits to the Olive Branch Cabin, and spending time with our adult children. It is our hope that your time spent at the 'Olive Branch Cabin' will bring about hope, renewal and sacred rest.

Amazing vacation weekend of a lifetime!
Pictures can't capture this authentic log cabin. It was absolutely perfect. Our vacation was truly magical because of the cozy interior, fun outdoor amenities, and amazing scenery. We loved relaxing by the fire-pit and in the luxurious hot tub. My fiancee's favorite part of the weekend was relaxing in the hot tub while gazing at the millions of stars above. I can't wait to come back and rent this cabin again. Red Door Vacation Rentals made the process easy and they were pleasant to work with. Highly Recommended!!!
Great property, with one snag.
I don't like to leave "bad" reviews and I enjoyed my time at this property. The cabin was quaint and cozy and clean. Instructions to get there were great, we had no problems. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and walking around the property. I understand things can happen especially when your property is far away. Here is the snag I encountered, and why I rated it 4/5 stars.
When I searched for a property, the first filter I picked was "hot tub". This was an important part of the stay for us. Upon arrival we checked it out. At first glance, the water was murky. Then at closer inspection, there was a peachy-reddish "gunk" around the water edge. I'm a problem solver, so I figure, just get a rag and wipe it off, maybe it's just hot tub gunk. Well, it was solid and chunky. One side I wiped and I watched chunks fall to the murky bottom. (in our opinion it looked like throw up) I immediately emailed owners asking if they knew it had been cleaned. I was told it was cleaned and that the owner had actually wiped it down the day before and to "enjoy my stay". That was the response. There would be no reason for me to exaggerate or misrepresent what I was looking at, so it seemed my concerns were met with a sort of brush off. THAT is what upsets me most. I read every single review of this property and only one was slightly negative. My walk away is sort of the same, I paid a premium cleaning fee for a three night stay and felt I really paid way too much for something that was not clean. If the tub was wiped down only less than 24 hours of me looking it over, there must have been a mutant strain of bacteria growing. So this perk I felt I paid for was no perk at all. I was disappointed, we both were. I understand things happen, I just expected a different response. I did not push the issue as we were trying to enjoy the few days in the wilderness.
Thank you for your generous 4 stars in light of the disappointing condition of the hot tub. And, my utmost apology for how our response to your concerns were less than satisfactory. We pride ourselves on our customer service and can only learn from opportunities like this. We, as well as owners of Olive Branch read your review and we are both eager to make this right. We will be reaching out to you this week to rectify the situation.

Everything about the cabin was perfect! Aside from groceries and our own personal effects, the cabin was fully stocked like a home away from home. The management does an excellent job preparing a comfortable and inviting stay. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, the deck areas with spectacular views of the mountains. We will most defense needs be coming back to stay here in the future. Highly recommend!
