My husband built this house and we have loved it for 60 years.
I have given my home a complete make over. Please look at the video to see how beautiful it is. And the view, WOW, it is amazing!
In April of this year I was searching for a place to spend 4 days up in the Oakland area to visit my brother. I searched several properties and several websites, until I found Claudine’s house up in the Oakland hills. Claudine lived in the lower part of the house and I only saw her one time when I was there. She was a very helpful landlord and provided lots of information. When we arrived and walking into the house I was blown away how nice it was and how it had everything we needed. I walked into the house and it was very elegantly decorated house, with several nice pieces of art. I will give a word of warning; this house is not for families with small children…. There are so many things that a small child can break. This house is ideal for adults or teenagers.
The view from the balcony and living room, on a clear day was incredible. It was a million dollar view, and it beats any hotel I have stayed at in the bay area. Unfortunately, on the 2nd and 3rd day a storm was rolling in and our million dollar view was overcast and foggy. I am glad I had a GPS unit, because the road going up the hill is winding and can be confusing at times. There are several places to eat and shop at the bottom of the hill, and it was a quick drive down to get dinner and groceries.
The house had everything we could ever need. The kitchen was fully stocked and all of the appliances were in good working order. The washer and dryer were handy and we used it a few times. The kitchen was cozy and having a morning cup of coffee looking out at the bay was very nice. This was a perfect home base to plan several trips to San Francisco and around Oakland. It was close to a BART station, which make our trip to AT&T Park great.. GO DODGERS…!!!!!
I would highly recommend this place.
In March my husband and I spent a month at Claudine's for, I think, the 4th time. We LOVE staying here, and we love Claudine: she is SO welcoming, so kind, so helpful, and she has such a beautiful place to offer. This time, I caught a really ferocious chest cold that laid me low for a few days, and Claudine was the sweetest, bringing us home made chicken soup and all sorts of other remedies. The apartment is spacious and extremely comfortable and well-equipped - and beautifully maintained. Situated up in the hills, it has amazing views, and yet it is only 5 minutes from the little village of Montclair, which has everything for your daily needs, and immediate access to the highways for Berkeley and San Francisco. We come here to visit our kids and grandkids who live nearby, and they, too, are welcome at the apartment: we had a great Easter egg hunt outside this year! When visiting the Bay area, we would neve think of staying anywhere else!
We traveled with our 4 parents to visit their grandchildren in Oakland. Had a relaxing time in Claudine's lovely home that offered stunning views. For those who enjoyed a nice work out, walked from home to the charming town of Montclair. Claudine and Denise always accessible, when needed.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We stayed here for 2 weeks, it just felt like home. Everything is included and equipped in this home, you just need change of clothes that's it. I would like to stay here again.!! Thanks Claudine
As we stepped into the living area of this property, the view from the deck was striking! (It was some of our first photos captured!) The home and accommodations were beautiful and welcoming! Our family (with our adult children) enjoyed our time together cooking, lounging in comfort, and enjoyed the view and the attractions of the area. We've raved about our great experience and highly recommend this rental!
I live in the neighborhood and just rented Claudine's place for my out of town family (6 people), who came in for a wedding and stayed a week. It was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and all on one level with no steps, which was perfect for my parents who are in their 80s. Lots of space to gather as a family group and also to have separate time. The views are unbeatable, especially from the lovely deck with cozy table. The decor is more than you would expect from a rental, so I would not really recommend this for families with young children. Everyone else, I am recommending it to highly!
