Outstanding place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house set within easy walking distance of Lighthouse Beach. It is perfect for large family groups with its many beautiful bedrooms and redone bathrooms. There is a pool table and ping pong table inside, as well as a large yard for kids to play in. The newly renovated kitchen is wonderful for family gatherings. Our multi-generational group of 11 has been there twice, and hope to go again.

You Have to See it To Believe It!

  • 5 of 5

For the past 7 years 3 generations of my family, now numbering 11, have been vacationing at 1 Norwood Heights for 2-3 weeks in the Summer. The kids consider it "our summer place" and we have celebrated so many special moments over the years that it is like our second home. Whether it's a challenging puzzle being worked on in the Great Room, an animated multi-generational volleyball game on the spacious lawn or a stroll to Lighthouse Beach to kayak, explore or just relax, everyone is content at the end of the day and has something special to report.

For Christmas 2015 we decided to rent the newly renovated 1 Norwood for Christmas week and I think I am the first to report on the experience of the amazing transformation we enjoyed. If you loved it before your jaw will drop when you see it now! In addition to all of the bathrooms being completely gutted and beautifully renovated, the floors being re-finished, the patios enlarged and upgraded as well as general sprucing up everywhere; the downstairs kitchen, dining, family room have been transformed beyond recognition! State of the art, while keeping the gorgeous antiquity of the house in tact. Lisen was very dedicated to getting it right and she certainly did just that. Needles to say we enjoyed yet another memorable vacation at Norwood in the Winter and look forward to the Summer as well.

Thanks, Lisen!

Owner's Response: Carol, Thank you for your kind words. What a joy it was to bring our home to life. The renovation has proven to be exactly what we hoped for and we are so glad you loved it too! Your family is part of the heritage of our house and love that your family views it as their summer place (and now winter place) as well. May you and they keep coming back for years to come. Warmly, Lisen

"A Little Bit of heaven"

  • 5 of 5

My family of 9 including three generations spent a marvelous week at 1 Norwood Heights. We were familiar with the area from a previous stay at another home and loved the beach but wanted a larger place. From the moment I walked in I was thrilled with the house. There are three levels so each family had their own space and privacy. The bedrooms are large, beautifully decorated, lots of windows and lovely antique furniture. The kitchen was great, it had everything a cook would need for a special meal. We spent a lot of time together at the large dining room table. The living room with a huge fireplace, comfortable sofas became the place for the three children to put on "shows" play with the marvelous building blocks and listen to grandparents read stories.

The yard is very special, beautiful blue hydrangeas, lots of trees and bushes for playing hide and seek, great chairs for relaxing. The house clearly has a history, wide floor boards, beautiful paneling, lovely and unusual hardware on the doors all adding to the beauty of the house. It is well cared for and clearly loved-we look forward to returning.

Great place and location for a large gathering!

  • 5 of 5

We, along with our four adult children and their kids, stayed at 1 Norwood Heights in June of 2014. Our families were from IN, IA, CA, and MA and we were looking for a place large enough for all 14 of us and with enough possible activities for our diverse tastes. We found it! The location is great: just a few minutes walk from a beautiful private sandy beach. The grandchildren ranged in age from 0-6 years old and we felt very safe with them at Lighthouse Beach. One of the many great features of this property that appealed to our family was the very large, shaded yard. We played soccer, wiffle ball, hide and seek, and other yard games with the grandchildren every day. There was plenty of lawn furniture for all 14 of us to barbecue and enjoy eating lunches on the back patio. The house was well-equipped inside also. There were enough dishes and cookware for all of our needs and the dishwasher made clean-up easier. The game room had building blocks and LEGOS for the grandkids to play with while the adults read or played ping-pong. One of us had a crisis come up back at the office and the high-speed internet allowed her to communicate and take care of the issue.

The house has three floors, which gave us enough space to get out of one another’s way when we needed recuperation time. The size of the house also made it quiet enough so that the night owls and the baby, who started his day at 5:00 a.m., didn’t disturb each other.

Lisen and Bill were very helpful in responding to our queries ahead of time regarding the property as well as once we were on-site.

Truly relaxing

  • 5 of 5

1Norwood Heights is a true home away from home. It is very thoughtfully supplied and decorated. We have had the pleasure of staying there twice now - the first time for a wedding with 12 adults and the second time for fun with 10 adults and 4 children under 4. It was the house was perfect for both groups! With it's many spacious rooms and huge back yard we could not only enjoy time as an entire group, but also had places to retreat to for peace and quiet. The small and friendly beach felt like it was there just for us and close enough that the children could walk there. We recommend this home for any group looking to spend a vacation together like when they were kids: bbq, beach, bunk beds, and board games.

We are already looking forward to the next time we stay there!

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful home over Easter vacation. The home was incredible. The owner was extremely easy to work with from the very beginning. We found the home to be spacious, comfortable, and full of amenities. There was a lot of living space for us to enjoy. Each bedroom was beautiful, and our children really loved the bunk room. We walked to the lighthouse beach every night. Thank you for sharing your home with us, and I would give this home my highest recommendation!

Annisquam was the exclusive summering community of Boston Brahmans in the 1800s. Many of the summering families trace their roots back six or more generations. The area now is home to artists, writers, intellectuals, and those who are looking for a more relaxed way of life. Turn off your screen and enjoy the beauty of Lighthouse Beach, the charm of the annual Annisquam Sea Faire, the fun of the fourth of July parade. The local area boasts world renowned theater, chamber music, and dance festivals.
